Lego Christmas Story.

Staff Review

Randy Yard:
Bricks aren't exactly the best medium for crafting a film that makes the viewer think, but Anzai has done just that in this Japanese import. The influence of anime is prevalent here, especially in the sound department, where characters speak in high-pitched giggly staccatos and cartoony sound effects punctuate an otherwise somber film. It's a bit slow-moving at first, and much is lost in translation, but the visuals tell more than enough of the story for the viewer to get the idea--and what an idea it is. I won't give too much away, but suffice to say that you have not and probably will not see this concept anywhere near this serious attempted in bricks before or anytime in the near future. Immaculately composited effects and some nice cinematography are just icing on top of an already memorable cake. This is not your average Christmas film, and certainly not your average brickfilm, and for both these reasons this one is well worth your watch.
