BatBoyz was a contest-entry for the "Steinerei" (2008)
with the theme "remake".
Do you find all the remakes in this one?

Staff Review

Bert Loos:
Made for the German "Steinerei" festival (the first and to my knowledge only festival that is specifically for brickfilmers) of 2008, BatBoyz is a pretty good film that is worth a watch.

It was pretty hard to rate this film. A wizard guy (I think it was Snape from the Harry Potter series) is playing around with dressing up when all of a sudden a bad guy (who is also a very well known film character) shows up. Then they start fighting. At least, I think this is what happened; for the most part of the film I was convinced I was watching a drug-induced dream of our Snape. The picture quality, which can be called average at best, didn't help much, and neither did the fact that all of the dialogue, which was not actually that much, was in German.

Okay, so the story and technical details really aren't anything worthy to write home about. "But then why review this film?", I hear you ask. Well, allow me to explain.

The whole film has been animated very well in terms of interesting visuals and jokes. There are a lot of small jokes in this film that while not making you laugh out loud, do add a great bit to the enjoyment factor of the film. The fight scene has been choreographed very well, and the film does manage to hold your attention. The music is also good, giving the film a good atmosphere.

All in all, this film is a good "quickie" to watch if you have a couple of minutes of free time.
