Staff Review

Tripod:
Before I get in to my review, let me again remind you that this film has STRONG violence and STRONG sexual content. I would go a bit beyond and say this is an equivalent of an R-rated film, and really shouldn't be watched by anyone who can't handle the mentioned contents.

"For Trubador" is a brickfilm very much inspired by Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather films. The story of a murdered cop quickly turns in to a bloodbath, when  two other cops decide to leave the law outside the door, and get revenge. The film contains not one word of spoken dialogue, which, from a writing-directing standpoint, wasn't a bad idea. In fact, the plot shines just as well, if not, more through some quality animation and good direction. Now, most of the film is one big action piece, and will satisfy any lover of violent, gory gruesomeness, but some smaller bits in between stitch it all together and make it solid. This is a very solid homage to gritty gangster films, probably one of the best brickfilms from 2009.
