BRICKS IN MOTION AWARDS 2025 NOMINATIONS

It might have taken a bit longer than we would have liked, but we are back with another year of the Bricks in Motion Awards! We are just in time to announce the winners on Brickfilm Day, but first, here are the nominations. Same as previously, brickfilms released in 2025 were eligible to be nominated if they were shared by their creator to one of the following:

The Bricks in Motion Discord[/*]

The Bricks in Motion website[/*]

A Bricks in Motion contest/event (now including Brickfilm Day)[/*]
If you want one of your films to be eligible for the 2026 Bricks in Motion Awards, make sure to share it to BiM in one of those ways! It doesn't matter if it was released months ago; you can post it at any time in the year and it will become eligible.

There are 10 categories with 6 nominees each, with the exception of Best Film, which has 10 nominees. The judging panel consisted of Adventures Ensue, AeroNomad, Chris W., Formal Lens, GediRitter, JO Co, LOTW Studios, MindGame, Sully, and myself. If a judge made a film that was in the running for a category, then they were excluded from the discussion for that category. Also, a creator can only have one film nominated per category. (Shoutout to Stanley Q-Brick for demonstrating this year that that was a good rule to have in place!) Big thanks as always to the judges, as it requires a lot of work to get all the categories done!

Now, here are the nominees!

BRAWL 2026 is just around the corner!

What is BRAWL?
Brickfilm Rapidly All Week Long or BRAWL is a contest in which you have exactly one week to write, animate, edit, and submit a brickfilm. You can watch a quick overview video of the contest here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2fcuScaqG8

When Does BRAWL Start?
The contest will start June 27th, 2026 at 7:00 PM EDT (Eastern Daylight Time), and will end July 4th, 2026 at 7:00 PM ET (Eastern Time). You will have exactly one week to finish and submit a film. Any entries not received by the end of one week time period will be disqualified.

A thread titled "BRAWL 2026 Starts NOW!" will be posted in the Contest & Festivals forum. The thread will contain the theme, MOD elements, and submission information.

The Rules

The entry must be entirely made and submitted in one week’s time. To prove this, one or both of the MOD elements must be present in every shot (with the exception of fifteen seconds, more information about that below) of your entry.[/*]

Your entry must consist primarily of LEGO (or similar building-block toy) stop-motion animation. Live-action, CGI, hand-drawn, or other forms of film or animation may be used to supplement your entry, but stop-motion animation must be the primary focus.[/*]

Your entry must consist of at least 30 seconds of stop-motion animation. There is no maximum time limit. [/*]

No mature/explicit content is allowed. This includes, but is not limited to: swearing, excessive/gory violence, overt sexual content, and blatant drug references.[/*]

You must not make your entry public until the deadline has passed.
The entry you submit to the judges must be the entry made publicly available to everyone else. You cannot create a version of your film that includes the mod element to send to the judges, and then publicly release a second version of your film that has the mod element removed.[/*]

Use of copyrighted material (including music) is allowed. Use of copyrighted material will not affect the judging of your entry. [/*]

Entries based off of previous copyrighted material (Star Wars, Marvel, Batman, etc.) are allowed, but discouraged. It could affect the judging of your film due to unoriginality.[/*]

Because of the limited time frame and because this isn’t a music contest, you are allowed to use music created before the contest, either original music created beforehand or copyrighted music. [/*]

Entries must clearly show the BRAWL 2026 logo for three uninterrupted seconds. High quality versions of the logo (shoutout to the logo designer Tiny Angry Dog Studios!) will be posted by the start of the contest. The logo may be inserted digitally.[/*]
Theme & MOD Elements
If you’ve never entered BRAWL before, HERE is a video overview of what mod elements are. If you have never entered THAC or BRAWL, please do so. Additionally, please read the rules below afterwards.
To ensure the BRAWL 2026 entries were made within the week-long time frame, the theme and mod elements (both color and letter mods) will be announced at the very start of the contest. The first mod element is a color mod. This will be a combination of two random brick colors connected together or touching (for example, a blue brick connected to a red brick). The second mod element is a letter mod. This could be any of the 26 letters of the modern English alphabet. You may use the uppercase or lowercase version of the letter, but the letter must be recognizable as that letter.

15-Second Leeway Rule:
The 15-Second Leeway Rule allows you to include up to 15 seconds of shots in your film that do NOT have mod elements present. The shot or shots without the mod elements do not have to be in order. The leeway rule allows you to not have to worry about placing a mod in difficult shots, or if you accidentally forget the mod in a shot. If you have any questions, please ask.
To prove that you made your film within the time limit, at least one of the mod elements must appear in every shot of your animation (excluding the 15 seconds as stated above). You do not need to use both mod elements. You can combine these mod elements in any way that you see fit, so long as at least one is present. You could choose to use just the color mod or just the letter mod, you could choose to use both, you could alternate between scenes, or any combination of the above. All that is important is that at least one of the mod elements be visible in every shot, minus your 15-second leeway.
Feel free to contact myself (e-mail, PM, and the BiM Discord are the best way to reach me) or one of the judges with a frame to verify that the mod (letter or color) is recognizable and will not disqualify your entry. However, try to ask other users first and contact one of the judges as a last resort, as we may not may be able to respond immediately.

The letter may be upper or lower case, but it still must be clearly that letter. The letter can be rotated but not mirrored. Again, it must be clearly identifiable as that letter. It may be written or printed on a piece of paper or sticker, drawn directly onto a brick, printed on a piece, or built from pieces and even integrated into the set. As long as the mod is intentional and recognizable.
The letter mod element may exist on a printed LEGO piece, but it must clearly be that letter. An eyebrow or wrinkle on a minifig’s face, or a fold in the shirt on the minifig's torso are not letters.[/*]

All mod elements must be physically present in each shot of your entry. You cannot digitally insert the mod element after you have animated the shot.[/*]

Minifig parts (for example a red torso attached to grey legs) can count as the color mod, but bricks connected to or touching baseplates do not.[/*]

You do not need to include either mod element in the titles or credits.[/*]

If a shot must be clarified by changing the shot in anyway (changing brightness, black and white to color, etc) to be able to identify the mod element, the shot will be not counted as containing the mod element and will count towards your 15-second leeway. See next rule for one exception regarding the cropping of the image.[/*]

For particular shots where including the mod element would be disruptive to your artistic vision (such as extreme close-ups and shots with very low depth of field), you may include a legal mod element in the shot and then crop the mod element out in post-production. You then must provide an uncropped frame from that shot and explain in detail the cropped shot in the submission email. You will have to provide separate proof for each shot.[/*]
Judging & Prizes

The judges for BRAWL 2026 are:

Maosl

Entries will be judged on criteria including originality, production values (animation, set design, cinematography, sound, etc.), story, and creative interpretation of the theme by the 5 judges. Films will be discussed and ranked collectively by the judges until a consensus is reached. The top 3 films will eligible for the prize pool. Entries below 25th place will not be publicly ranked.

Prizes

Shopping Streete, Ocarina of Time - The Final Battle, and the Vintage Steam Train!

First place gets first pick, second place gets second pick, and third place gets the prize that’s left. Additionally, all the top 3 will receive a Blu-Ray copy of the Bricks in Motion Collection, which features nearly 30 classic brickfilms from the community!

Additionally, there’s the Promising New Director Award, which goes to a new and upcoming brickfilmer who’s entering BRAWL for the first or second time! We want to give special recognition to a younger member who maybe didn’t crack the Top 15, or the top-placing at all, but has particular talent. The winner of the Promising New Director Award will receive the minifig-scale Back to the Future Delorean set set!

The Brickworld Cinema Team is excited to announce the thirteenth annual Brickworld Film Festival!

The festival will take place on Saturday, June 20th, 2026 at 7:00pm at the Renaissance Convention Center in Schaumburg, IL. The event theme for Brickworld Chicago 2026 is “Such Great Heights” and we’re excited to see how directors will adapt the theme literally or metaphorically. Our festival is only getting bigger and better with contestants eligible to win a variety of prizes!

The Brickworld Film Festival expanded dramatically in 2025 and this year continues the trend. We are giving away an unprecedented $1600+ in prizes with a brand new Youth Award category. Our red carpet event and photo wall will return along with distributing complimentary popcorn for audience members! Formal attire is recommended but not required. We continue to champion the LEGO stop-motion medium as the premiere event in North America.

While attending Brickworld Chicago isn’t required to enter the contest, the festival’s primary function is to serve the onsite attendees of Brickworld. In addition to the film festival, we will be running a LEGO stop-motion animation workshop, running a continuous screening of entries in our Brickfilm Theater, and doing all things LEGO all week long.

Official Rules
●	Your film should use LEGO elements to tell a story. It can be animated or live action, or a combination of the two.
●	Your film must be longer than 30 seconds and shorter than 5 minutes and 30 seconds in length.
●	Your film must not have been submitted to any previous Brickworld Film Festival.
●	Your film does not need to incorporate the “Such Great Heights” theme, but it is highly encouraged.
●	Anyone can enter a film in the festival, but you must be a Registrant of Brickworld Chicago to be eligible for all the prizes and trophies — except for the International Trophy and Gift Card which every valid entry qualifies for. You must be a Registrant of Brickworld and 13 years of age or younger to qualify for the Youth Award.
●	Films should be enjoyable by all ages. Film content such as (but not limited to) curse words/swearing, excessive violence, sexual content, and drug use will be grounds for disqualification at the discretion of the judges.
●	By entering your film for consideration, you attest that you hold all rights to exhibit the given work. This includes (but is not limited to) visuals, music, and characters. Unlicensed use of copyrighted material is not allowed.

The judging process worked as follows; each judge watched every film. After watching, each judge ranked their personal top 30 films. Each of the judge's lists was then run through a system that utilizes instant run-off voting to create a top twenty-five reflective of all the judges (as all the judges had their own Top 30, there were far more than 30 entries on the overall list, prior to elimination). The judges then adjusted the top twenty-five list as a group until they were satisfied with the outcome.
Judges considered the following when watching the films: originality, production value (animation, set design, cinematography, sound, etc.), story, and creative interpretation of the theme. While the parts of the film were considered, the most important quality the judges looked for is how the film works as a whole.

The judges this year are:

All entries must clearly show the THAC 2026 logo for three uninterrupted seconds. The logos may be inserted digitally or printed out onto the set. Big thanks to James Morr of Tiny Angry Dog for his awesome logo design for THAC 2026!

Several high-quality resolution versions of the THAC 2026 logo can be found HERE.

The Twenty-four Hour Animation Contest, or THAC for short, is a Brickfilming competition that lasts exactly 24 hours. All writing, recording, animating, and editing must be completed within the span of one day. It is as challenging as it sounds, but equal parts fun and a major staple of the community!
The theme is Revelation.
The color mod is a Blue brick connected to a Yellow brick.
The letter mod is P.
Submit your video link to thaccontest@gmail.com. before 7:00 AM EST on January 4th, 2026, any entries sent after this time will be disqualified.

Write the subject of your email in this format:
THAC 2026 Entry, [Your username], “[Title of your film]”
For example: THAC 2026 Entry, LOTW Studios, “The Citizen of the Year 2: Bum’s Revenge”
Entries must be uploaded to one of these websites…

1. Unlisted YouTube video. To make your video unlisted, go to the video page and click the little blue icon next to the video title, then select UNLISTED from the drop-down menu.
2. Password-protected Vimeo video. To make your video password-protected, go to the video page and click Settings, then under the Privacy tab, choose "Only people with a password". Please remember to include the password in your email! If I cannot view your entry, I cannot accept it.
3. A Google Drive link. Be sure to change the privacy settings so that anyone with the link can access it.

THAC 2025 has begun! Saturday, January the 3rd at 7:00 am EST. It will end exactly 24 hours later, on Sunday, January the 4th at 7:00 am EST. You can find out how much time you have left here: https://countingdownto.com/?c=6817935

Anyone who is not banned from Bricks in Motion is eligible to enter THAC. Send your finished entries to thaccontest@gmail.com. You do not need to have an account on Bricks in Motion, but it is encouraged that you join the site or Discord and get involved with the community. Judges may participate but are disqualified from being ranked and from receiving prizes. Joint productions are allowed, but it is up to you to divide up the prizes if you win anything.

Your entry must be entirely animated and edited during the 24-hour period. To prove this and as a long-time tradition of the contest, mod elements must appear in every shot of your film with the exception of 15 seconds. More on this below.[/*]

Your entry must consist of primarily LEGO (or similar building block toy) stop motion animation. Live action, CGI, and hand drawn animation are allowed but stop motion must be the primary focus.[/*]

Your entry must consist of at least 30 seconds of stop motion animation. Looped footage that consists of less that 30 seconds of animation will not count. There is no maximum time limit.[/*]

No mature or explicit content is allowed. This includes but is not limited to: swearing, excessive gore, overt sexual content, and blatant drug references. (If you are unsure about whether your film will be accepted, ask me or one of the judges).[/*]

The use of strobe lighting WILL NOT BE ALLOWED without a content advisory and an additional advisory in the email for judges reviewing the films. Strobe lighting that the judges deem egregious and excessive will be disqualified.[/*]

You may not make your entry public until after the deadline. The entry you make public must be the entry you submit to the judges. You cannot create a version of your film that includes the mod element to send to the judges and then release a second version of the film with the mod element removed. Once the judging process is over and the official results have been announced, you can make any changes you wish.[/*]

Use of copyrighted material (such as music) is allowed, though be aware of copyright infringement. Use of copyrighted material will not affect the judging of your entry. Additionally, due to time restraints of the contest, music may be created before the contest. While using copyrighted/trademarked material is allowed, you are discouraged from basing your entry on pre-existing franchises such as Star Wars, Marvel, etc. There is no direct score deduction, but a film that uses pre-existing intellectual properties will not be viewed as favorable as a film that creates something entirely new.[/*]
The THAC 2026 theme is Revelation. This could be interpreted in multiple different ways. It could be a character making a major breakthrough, or an event that changes everything. It could also be incorporated into the structure of the film itself. I highly recommend looking up various definitions online for inspiration and to get creative with your interpretations!

To assure that you create your entry within the 24 hour time frame and to prevent cheating, we require the use of the “mod element.” A mod element is a visual component that must be physically included in each shot of your film to prove that it was made in the 24 hour timeframe. There is an exception however, with a 15 second lenience rule. You do not have to include the mod element for a maximum of 15 seconds. Hopefully, this will allow you to film close-ups or other shots where it may be difficult to incorporate the mod elements. Additionally, we want to provide leeway to entrants who forget to include a mod element in a shot or two. In short, if you omit or forget the mod element in a few shots–that’s okay! Just make sure the shots without the mod do not exceed 15 seconds. Additionally, we do allow mod elements to be cropped out in some shots but you must provide proof that the mod element was present, by sending an uncropped still of the shot. You can send this either by messaging me on discord or by including it in your submission email.

There are two mod elements to choose from–you do not need to use both, you can pick one or the other, or even mix and match them. The first mod element is a color mod. This is a combination of two random bricks that must be connected together or touching. The second mod element is the letter mod. This could be any one of the 26 letters in the English alphabet. You may use upper or lowercase versions of the letter, but the letter must be recognizable.

This year’s mod elements are a blue brick connected to or directly touching a yellow brick and the letter P.

Here is the overall Bricklink Color Guide.

The letter mod may be upper or lowercase. The letter can be rotated but not mirrored. It must be clearly identifiable as the particular letter. It may be written on a piece of paper or sticker, drawn directly onto a brick, printed onto a piece, or built from pieces and even integrated into the set. The letter mod may exist as a printed LEGO piece, but it must clearly be that letter. Expressions on a minifigure face or folds in clothing on minifigure torsos are not letters.

Mod elements must be physically present. They cannot be digitally added in post-production.

Minifigure parts such as a red torso attached to blue legs count as the color mod.

Baseplates also count as part of a color mod.

You do not need to include the mod elements in the title or credits.

Check out Chris W.’s video about mod elements: https://youtu.be/YKO2McX25jY

Entries will be judged on criteria including originality, production value (animation, set design, cinematography, sound, etc.), story, and creative interpretation of the theme. Films will be discussed and ranked by the judges until a consensus is reached. The top three films will be eligible for the prize pool. Entries below 15th place will not be publicly ranked.

Hello one and all, and welcome to THAC 2026. I am thrilled to be hosting my 5th consecutive THAC and once again, I want to thank every single one of you that took part earlier this year, to make our 20th Anniversary Special our biggest yet with a total of 194 accepted entries!!!

Check out the announcement video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uvrbz0sSDz0

Special thanks to James Morr of tiny Angry Dog Studios for designing the brilliant logo.

The Twenty-four Hour Animation Contest, or THAC for short, is a Brickfilming competition that lasts exactly 24 hours. All writing, recording, animating, and editing must be completed within the span of one day. It is as challenging as it sounds, but equal parts fun and a major staple of the community!

THAC will commence on Saturday, January the 3rd at 7:00 am EST. It will end exactly 24 hours later, on Sunday, January the 4th at 7:00 am EST. A countdown to the contest can be found here.

Anyone who is not banned from Bricks in Motion is eligible to enter THAC. The email address to submit entries to will be listed in the "THAC 2026 STARTS NOW!" thread and the THAC 2026 launch video that will be posted on January 3rd, 2026. You do not need to have an account on Bricks in Motion, but it is encouraged that you join the site or Discord and get involved with the community. Judges may participate but are disqualified from being ranked and from receiving prizes. Joint productions are allowed, but it is up to you to divide up the prizes if you win anything.

To assure that you create your entry within the 24 hour time frame and to prevent cheating, the theme will be announced at the start of the contest. You are allowed to brainstorm ideas beforehand and/or prepare builds for your sets, but there is no guarantee that your ideas will match the theme. The theme will either be a single word or phrase. For example, the last THAC’s theme was “Fulfill”.

You must include the THAC logo for at least 3 uninterrupted seconds of your entry. This could be at any point in your video and any variation of the logo that will be provided. Several high-quality resolution versions of the THAC 2026 logo will be available on the day and will be accessed from the "THAC 2026 Starts Now!" thread.

In addition, we also require the use of the “mod element.” A mod element is a visual component that must be physically included in each shot of your film to prove that it was made in the 24 hour timeframe. Additionally, we do allow mod elements to be cropped out in some shots but you must provide proof that the mod element was present, by including an uncropped still of the shot in your submission email.

There will be two mod elements to choose from–you do not need to use both, you can pick one or the other, or even mix and match them. As with the theme, these mod elements will be announced at the start of the contest. The first mod element is a color mod. This will be a combination of two random bricks that must be connected together or touching. (For example, a green brick connected to a white brick.) The second mod element is a letter mod. This could be any one of the 26 letters in the English alphabet. You may use upper or lowercase versions of the letter, but the letter must be recognizable. Check out Chris W.’s video about mod elements: https://youtu.be/YKO2McX25jY

Your entry must be entirely animated and edited during the 24-hour period. To prove this and as a long-time tradition of the contest, mod elements must appear in every shot of your film with the exception of 15 seconds.[/*]

Your entry must consist primarily of LEGO (or similar building block toy) stop motion animation. Live action, CGI, and hand drawn animation are allowed but stop motion must be the primary focus.[/*]

Your entry must consist of at least 30 seconds of stop motion animation. There is no maximum time limit.[/*]

No mature or explicit content is allowed. This includes but is not limited to: swearing, excessive gore, overt sexual content, and blatant drug references. (If you are unsure about whether your film will be accepted, ask me or one of the judges).[/*]

While flashing lights imagery is not directly forbidden, you are required to include an epilepsy warning, both at the start of the video and in your submission email. If strobe lighting is deemed too excessive by the judges, you might be asked to alter your submission or face disqualification.[/*]

There is no direct score deduction, but a film that uses pre-existing intellectual properties will not be viewed as favorable as a film that creates something entirely new.[/*]
Entries will be judged on criteria including originality, production value (animation, set design, cinematography, sound, etc.), story, and creative interpretation of the theme. Films will be discussed and ranked by the judges until a consensus is reached. The top three films will be eligible for the prize pool. Entries below 15th place will not be publicly ranked.

Artwork by Tiny Angry Dog Studios.

CONTEST
This year, Bricks in Motion challenges you to create a brickfilm for the Halloween season.
The contest will run from AUGUST 20TH to OCTOBER 31ST.

PRIZES
Dragonframe 5 + Controller

Dragonframe is the premium stop motion animation software that captured Laika's ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls and Disney's Frankenweenie. This software is easy enough for a beginner to learn, but offers a wealth of advanced features sure to meet the needs of any stop motion animator. Software and controller included. For Mac OSX and Windows. Thanks as always to Dragonframe for generously sponsoring our annual contest.

LEGO Creator 31167 Haunted Mansion

LEGO 43279 Wall-E and Eve

In addition, there is another separate prize category, the Promising Director Award. This will be awarded to a film that, while outside of the top 3, the judges feel displays the creator's passion for their work and their potential to become a great brickfilm director in the future, and from a brickfilmer who has not been releasing brickfilms for a long time already.

Promising Director Prize: LEGO 72038 Wario & King Boo

JUDGES
Entries will be judged on their overall creativity, quality, and spooky spirit by the 5 judges. Rather than scoring individual categories like animation or story, the judges will examine each film on how well it comes together, whatever kind of film it is, as a complete artistic work. Films will be discussed and ranked collectively by the judges until a consensus is reached. The top 3 films will be eligible for the prize pool.

World of Shrimpy
won second place in BRAWL 2025 with QUIET EXTINCTION.

RULES
• No mature/explicit content is allowed. This includes, but is not limited to: excessive swearing, excessive violence, overt sexual content, and blatant drug references. Mild language is allowed, and some blood and violence is allowed, but not to a gratuitous level.
• There is a minimum requirement of 30 seconds of animation. There is no maximum runtime. Remember, it is better to focus on quality and attention to detail than to make a very long and ambitious film, but let the quality suffer. A highly-polished three-minute movie is better than a ten-minute movie that falls apart because the director ran out of time to do it the right way. The judging system won't favour a film for simply being longer, but low production values will hurt a longer film when competing against a shorter film that is better made.
• CG brickfilms are allowed in this contest.
• Egregious use of generative AI will disqualify an entry.
• Submitted films must be new films. Even if you do submit a film you began working on before this competition was announced, that is fine as long as you haven't released it anywhere before this contest, and it fits the theme of this contest.
• Films may not be posted publicly until October 2025.
• The entry you submit to the judges must be the entry made publicly available to everyone else. This means you can't submit a rough version for judging then post a polished version you spent more time on as though it were your entry to the contest publicly. You may post reworked versions of your film once contest judging is completed and results have been announced.
• All music must be credited, even if you made it yourself.
• Entries that use characters from trademarked properties as source material are allowed, but it is encouraged to create your own characters or even use old works that are now in the public domain.
• An entry will not be accepted if you are banned from Bricks in Motion.

DEADLINE
The deadline for submissions will be Friday, October 31st, any time zone.
Films may be submitted any time from now, though they cannot be made public until October or later.

To submit your film, send a link to your entry to: sillypenta@gmail.com

It is preferred if you write the subject of your email in this format:
Tales of Terror entry, [Your Bricks in Motion username], “[Title of your film]”
For example: Tales of Terror entry, Skell-Boy, "The Werewolf Returns"

Our preferred method of submission is unlisted YouTube links. If you do not have a YouTube account, we also accept password-protected Vimeo uploads and Google Drive links (Be sure to change the privacy settings so that anyone with the link can access it.)

Q&A
Q: Are CG brickfilms allowed?
A: Yes; in this contest, CG brickfilms are allowed to be entered, and will be eligible for ranking.

Q: Are we allowed to use the contest logo in our entry? In the credits of our film, for example?
A: Yes, although this is not required. The logo can be found here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/144j3S-ECe8s9DmR9Mu2SqfpVd0zrNE8t

Q: Can we collaborate with others to create an entry?
A: Yes! Collaboration is encouraged. However, we won't be able to divide up the prizes evenly for you, so you'll have to determine who receives the prizes in the case of a win. Entries may be submitted on the basis of one entry per director, so you can help with someone else's entry and still enter a film you've directed.

Q: May we post trailers, images, or other work-in-progress elements of our film publicly on the forum?
A: This is encouraged! Feel free to post about the progress on your film on the Discord or in the forums. You can even make a thread devoted to your progress on a film if you like.

Q: Can we use some non-LEGO elements in building our sets and characters?
A: Yes! This is a contest for LEGO filmmaking, but that could mean a minifigure with surroundings that aren't LEGO, etc. You are also allowed to use other LEGO-compatible brick brands.

Q:Are we allowed to release alternate versions of our films at the same time as the version submitted to the contest? (for instance, a version with profanity or other restricted content)
A: In order to maintain the integrity of the judging process, please only release the version you are submitting to the contest publicly at the time the deadline passes. Entrants who violate this rule may be disqualified. If you want to re-release a revised version of your film, you may do so after contest judging is completed and results have been announced.

Q: Are we required to include any "mod elements" like BiM's THAC contest?
A: No, there are no mod elements in the Tales of Terror Contest. Those are used in THAC to ensure films are created in the 24-hour period. You have over two months this time. Even if you did submit a film you began working on before this competition was announced, that would be fine as long as you haven't released it anywhere before this contest, and it fits the theme of this contest.

Q: How fast and loose should I play with the content restriction rules?
A: Ultimately, we want winning entries that won't earn us angry emails from parents, or concern from contest sponsors (present and future) if they win and are celebrated throughout BricksInMotion.com and our social media postings. This community has members of a diverse variety of ages and backgrounds in it, so for a competition we want to be respectful of that. These rules are undoubtedly going to be limitations for some filmmakers, but we believe it's still possible to make compelling, even dramatic stories within these limitations. Potentially, one could approach them as creative limitations that empower the filmmaker to find more original, inventive ways of conveying ideas in a film.

Q: When can we share our films publicly?
A: Previously, it has been once the deadline passes, but for this contest, the answer is any time from October 1st onwards, even though the deadline is October 31st. This is to allow films more time to be seen within the Halloween season, before it has passed.

THE BRAWL 2025 RESULTS ARE HERE!

Another fantastic year of BRAWL in the can. 119 entries this year, and the quality was absolutely stacked. You can watch the results livestream HERE.

The judges for BRAWL 2025 were:
Chris W.
Sully (Tmns5097)
AeroNomad
Legolightbulb

The judging process worked as follows, each judge watched every film. After watching, each judge ranked their personal top 30 films. Each of the judge's lists were then run through a system that utilizes instant run-off voting to create a top fifteen reflective of all the judges. The judges then adjusted the top 25 list as a group until they were satisfied with the outcome.
Judges considered the following when watching the films: originality, production value (animation, set design, cinematography, sound, etc.), story, and creative interpretation of the theme. While the parts of the film were considered, the most important quality the judges looked for is how the film works as a whole.

Best Newcomer Award!

We decided to add a prize to recognize a newer brickfilmer! To qualify, it must be your first or second time entering BRAWL, and it won’t go to those who have been brickfilming for a long while, but are only entering BRAWL now. Also, if your entry places in the Top 15, you are not eligible for the Best Newcomer Award.

And the winner of the Best Newcomer Award is…

BRAWL 2025 HAS STARTED!
Brickfilm Rapidly All Week Long or BRAWL, is a contest in which you have ONE WEEK to make and submit a whole brickfilm from scratch. Beginning RIGHT NOW, you have one week. Any entries not received by July 5th, 2025, 7:00PM EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) will be disqualified. Sounds like a challenge? It is, but it’s a ton of fun!

Theme & MOD Elements
The story theme for BRAWL 2025 is Control.
Take some time and come up with creative interpretations of the theme!

Mods:
The color MOD element is: a WHITE piece connected to or directly touching a YELLOW piece. The letter MOD element is the letter 'E'.

All entries must clearly show the BRAWL 2025 logo for three uninterrupted seconds. The logos may be inserted digitally. Several high-quality resolution versions of the BRAWL 2025 logo can be found here.

To prove that you made your film within the time limit, at least one of the mod elements must appear in every shot of your animation (excluding 15 seconds, more info below). For a video summary of the mod element rules, check out this video.

The letter may be upper or lower case, but it still must be clearly that letter. It may be written or printed on a piece of paper or sticker, drawn directly onto a brick, printed on a piece, or built from pieces and even integrated into the set. As long as the mod is intentional and recognizable.[/*]

The letter mod element may exist on a printed LEGO piece, but it must clearly be that letter. An eyebrow or wrinkle on a minifig’s face, or a fold in the shirt on the minifig's torso are not letters.[/*]

All mod elements must be physically present in each shot of your entry (with the exception of 15 seconds). You cannot digitally insert the mod element after you have animated the shot.
Minifig parts (for example a red torso attached to white legs) can count as the color mod.[/*]

Baseplates do count as the mod element.[/*]

You do not need to include either mod element in the titles or credits.[/*]

If a shot must be clarified by changing the shot in anyway (changing brightness, black and white to color, etc) to be able to identify the mod element, the shot will be not counted as containing the mod element and will count towards your fifteen second leeway (and will disqualify your entry if it pushes the run-time of shots without the mod element over 15 seconds).

The acceptable colors are (as designated on Bricklink):
   White (Bricklink color ID: 1)
Glow In Dark White (Bricklink color ID: 159)
Dark Yellow (BrickLink color ID: 161)
   Yellow (BrickLink color ID: 3)
Light Yellow (BrickLink color ID: 33)
Bright Light Yellow (BrickLink color ID: 103)
Neon Yellow (BrickLink color ID: 236)
Trans-Neon Yellow (BrickLink color ID: 121)
   Trans-Yellow (BrickLink color ID: 19)
Mx Light Yellow (BrickLink color ID: 137)
Mx Ochre Yellow (BrickLink color ID: 138)
Mx Lemon (BrickLink color ID: 139)
Mx Foil Yellow (BrickLink color ID: 218)

Here is a link to the overall Bricklink Color Guide.
[/*]
15-Second Leeway Rule:
You are allowed to include up to 15 seconds of shots in your film that do NOT have mod elements present. The shot or shots without the mod elements do not have to be in order. The leeway rule allows you to not have to worry about placing a mod in difficult shots, or if you accidentally forget the mod in a shot. If you have any questions, please ask.

The Rules

The entry must be entirely made and submitted in one week’s time. To prove this, one or both of the MOD elements must be present in every shot (with the exception of a maximum of 15 seconds) of your entry.[/*]

Use of copyrighted material (including music) is allowed, though discouraged. Use of copyrighted material will not affect the judging of your entry. [/*]

Entries based off of previous copyrighted material (Star Wars, Marvel, Batman, etc.) are allowed, but discouraged. It could affect the judging of your film due to unoriginality. [/*]

Because of the limited time frame and because this isn’t a music contest, you are allowed to use music created before the contest, either original music created beforehand or copyrighted music. [/*]

Users banned from the Bricks in Motion forums or Discord are not allowed to enter BRAWL 2025.[/*]
Submission
Please send all entries to BRAWLcontest@gmail.com before 7:00 PM EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) on July 5th, 2025, any entries sent after this time will be disqualified.

Write the subject of your email in this format:
BRAWL 2025 Entry, [Your Bricks in Motion username], “[Title of your film]”
For example: BRAWL 2025 Entry, Chris W., “Unrenewable 2: Unrenewabler”

Entries must be uploaded to one of these websites…
1. Unlisted YouTube video. To make your video unlisted, go to the video page and click the little blue icon next to the video title, then select UNLISTED from the drop-down menu.
2. Password-protected Vimeo video. To make your video password-protected, go to the video page and click Settings, then under the Privacy tab, choose "Only people with a password". Please remember to include the password in your email! If I cannot view your entry, I cannot accept it.

An email response will be sent once the entry has been approved. In the event of any problems (ex. A missing MOD element, etc), an email will be sent for clarification. It is recommended to stick around until you receive an approval email. Please note, if you are sending in your film the last day of the contest, a verification that your video follows all the rules may not be sent before the deadline as a majority of the entries are submitted the last day.
Please check your video to make sure it is compliant with all rules before you send it to me.

Optionally, for entries whose primary language is NOT in the English language, a second version of the film may be submitted 48 hours after the deadline with added English subtitles so the judges have a better understanding of the film. In order to submit the subtitled film, the following criteria must be met:

• An entry must have been submitted before the one week deadline, July 5th, 2025 7:00 PM EDT.
• The subtitled entry will be a modified version of the entry submitted before the one-week deadline. The only change that can be made is English subtitles being added. No extra shots, no extra audio, not even a change in color grade. If any changes are found, the subtitled entry will be considered void and the previously submitted non-subtitled entry will be judged.
• The subtitled entry must be submitted no later than 48 hours after the end of the BRAWL contest, July 5th, 2025 7:00 PM EDT.

The judges for BRAWL 2025 are:

AeroNomad
Legolightbulb

Entries will be judged on criteria including originality, production values (animation, set design, cinematography, sound, etc.), story, and creative interpretation of the theme by the 5 judges. Films will be discussed and ranked collectively by the judges until a consensus is reached. The top 3 films will be eligible for the prize pool. Entries below 25th place will not be publicly ranked.

We want to give special recognition to a younger member who maybe didn’t crack the Top 15, or the top-placing at all, but has particular talent.
The Brickworld Cinema Team is very excited to announce the twelfth annual Brickworld Film Festival!

The festival will take place on Saturday, June 14th 2025 at 8:00pm at the Renaissance Convention Center in Schaumburg, IL. The event theme for Brickworld Chicago 2025 is “Braving the Elements” and we’re excited to see how directors will adapt the theme literally or metaphorically. This will be the biggest and best festival to date and contestants will be eligible to win a variety of prizes!

The Brickworld Film Festival is expanding this year in a dramatic way. We are giving away an unprecedented $1400+ in prizes, with 4 new awards, and hosting a red carpet event with photo wall opportunities. We’re also distributing complimentary popcorn for audience members! Formal attire is recommended but not required. It will be a LEGO stop-motion event unlike anything seen before in North America.

The festival is proudly sponsored by Brickworld and EclipseGrafx.

●	Your film does not need to incorporate the “Braving the Elements” theme, but it is highly encouraged.
●	Anyone can enter a film in the festival, but you must be a Registrant of Brickworld Chicago to be eligible for all the prizes and trophies - except for the International Trophy and Gift Card which every valid entry qualifies for.
●	By submitting your film, the Brickworld Film Festival is granted the right to use and/or publish clips or the full videos, screenshots, director and crew names, and any other material related to an entry in the event program, the Brickworld Film Festival screening, the Brickworld website, re-screenings at future Brickworld events, and for any and all promotional purposes.
●	Limit one (1) entry per director.
●	To submit, fill out the entry form (which includes an upload link for your film) by Wednesday, June 4th, 2025 : https://forms.gle/4c3MMvgCv1QxdAkX6

FAQ:

What does it mean to be a Full Registrant of Brickworld Chicago?
You have purchased a badge for the full convention experience through this page here. If you purchase a standard, one-day entrance ticket for the public exhibition, this does not qualify as full registration. Film Fest organizers cross reference the names submitted through registration with the names on the film submission form. See more details on full registration badges here.

Am I allowed to use minifigure portrayals of licensed characters?
Yes, using a character's likeness in minifig form (Star Wars, LOTR, Marvel, or in-house play themes like Adventurers) is not a violation of copyright given that you are creating brand new footage owned by you with these minifigures. You cannot use the copyrighted footage or audio of licensed characters from someone else's work (except with express permission).

Can I win more than one award/category?
As long as you are a fully registered on-site attendee of Brickworld Chicago and your film complies with all of the rules, you will be eligible to win any award/category. There is no limit to the number of categories/awards that can be won by a single valid entry. International films can only place in the international category.

My film is slightly over the time restriction. Can I get an exception?
We have increased the time cap for 2025 from five minutes to five minutes and thirty seconds. However, beyond this extension, the run time is fixed in fairness to other entrants. Entries that fail to comply will not be screened.

What about digitally animated or rendered submissions?
As long as your film uses LEGO elements as the primary visual medium, fully or partially animated submissions made through Blender, Stud.io, etc. are valid given that the film complies with all other rules. Compositing rendered assets is also acceptable.

Where are the past years’ submissions?
We’re working on that! We hope to have a dedicated page here on the Brickworld website that will host the previous entries and winners.

For any further questions, please email filmfest@brickworld.com. While Brickworld is a business that serves the LEGO community, the film festival is a volunteer-led event so we appreciate your patience and understanding as we seek to put on the best possible show and improve it year after year on our own time. We look forward to seeing your films!

BRAWL 2025 is almost here!

What is BRAWL?
Brickfilm Rapidly All Week Long or BRAWL is a contest in which you have exactly one week to write, animate, edit, and submit a brickfilm. You can watch a quick overview video of the contest here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LEyaWomyYw

When Does BRAWL Start?
The contest will start June 28th, 2025 at 7:00 PM EDT (Eastern Daylight Time), and will end July 5th, 2025 at 7:00 PM ET (Eastern Time). You will have exactly one week to finish and submit a film. Any entries not received by the end of one week time period will be disqualified.

A thread titled "BRAWL 2025 Starts NOW!" will be posted in the Contest & Festivals forum.

Entries must clearly show the BRAWL 2025 logo for three uninterrupted seconds. High quality versions of the logo (shoutout to the logo designer Tiny Angry Dog Studios!) will be posted by the start of the contest. The logo may be inserted digitally.[/*]

Egregious use of generative AI will cause a submission to be disqualified.[/*]
Theme & MOD Elements
If you’ve never entered BRAWL before, HERE is a video overview of what mod elements are. If you have never entered THAC or BRAWL, please do so. Additionally, please read the rules below afterwards.
To ensure the BRAWL 2025 entries were made within the week-long time frame, the theme and mod elements (both color and letter mods) will be announced at the very start of the contest.

The judges for BRAWL 2025 are:
Chris W.
Sully (Tmns5097)
AeroNomad
Legolightbulb

Entries will be judged on criteria including originality, production values (animation, set design, cinematography, sound, etc.), story, and creative interpretation of the theme by the 5 judges. Films will be discussed and ranked collectively by the judges until a consensus is reached. The top 3 films will eligible for the prize pool. Entries below 25th place will not be publicly ranked.

First place gets first pick, second place gets second pick, and third place gets the prize that’s left. Additionally, courtesy of Nathan Wells, all the top 3 will receive a Blu-Ray copy of the Bricks in Motion Collection, which features nearly 30 classic brickfilms from the community!

Last year, we introduced the Promising New Director Award, which goes to a new and upcoming brickfilmer who’s entering BRAWL for the first or second time, and we’re keeping it going this year! We want to give special recognition to a younger member who maybe didn’t crack the Top 15, or the top-placing at all, but has particular talent. The winner of the Promising New Director Award will receive the LEGO Minecraft Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring set!

THE BRICKS IN MOTION AWARDS 2024 RESULTS ARE HERE!

Yes! We have done the Bricks in Motion Awards for two years in a row again! The results are earlier in the year this time, since we already had in mind that we would do the BiMAs for 2024. Films were eligible to be nominated if they fulfilled one of the following criteria:

Were shared by their creator on the Bricks in Motion Discord[/*]

Were shared by their creator on the Bricks in Motion website[/*]

Were a submission to an official Bricks in Motion contest or event[/*]
Since Bricks in Motion is now also organizing Brickfilm Day events going forward, starting from the 2025 BiMAs, films submitted to Brickfilm Day will also become eligible to be nominated for the BiMAs.

This year, we decided to increase the number of nominees in each category from five to six nominees each, with the exception of Best Film, which has increased from 8 nominees to 10. The judging panel consisted of Bricks in Motion staff including myself, Chris W., JO Co, Orca Studios, William Osborne, Robin, and The Tenacious Brick. Additionally, long-time community members and hosts/judges from the community's previous award shows, MindGame and Tiny Angry Dog Studios, were also judges, and Orbital Lizard was also a judge.

Here is a playlist of all the nominees: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLx2Op1S8WyEQsGFBIhERtgru6hfxRO7l-

Creative Spark Prize (20th Anniversary Prize sponsored by Ladon) - Keith, Journey to the Icetops by JYB Animations
A big thank you to Ladon for volunteering to sponsor an additional prize, to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of THAC. Ladon was not only the designer of one of the 2 amazing THAC 2025 logos, but also the designer of the very first THAC logo in 2005.

"Grateful and honored at the opportunity to design a logo for this anniversary edition of THAC, and I wanted to lend a hand back into the community of filmmakers who competed in the event. I got the judges to give me a hand in selecting a film that, while not in the top 30, still showed an incredible amount of skill, potential, and an abundance of enthusiasm for what they were doing. The goal of this prize is to award ambition, and help someone push themselves even further." - Ladon.

JYB Animations was selected for this prize and has been awarded a set of 3 Smallrig mini lights, designed to be used for photographing miniatures and figurines, and ideal for brickfilming.

AeroNomad
AeroNomad came 1st place, both in THAC 2023 with his entry Unwavering Dedication, and most recently in BRAWL 2024 with Heck of a Day. He also won Best Cinematography at the 2023 Bricks in Motion Awards with Danju and is a moderator of the BiM Discord.

Andreas and Alexander (Brickfilm Atelier)
With their newly merged studio name Brickfilm Atelier, Andreas Bitzan (formally of A&M Studios) and Alexander Leitner (formally of Legostudio01) are joining together as joint-judges of THAC 2025. As well as being admins for Brickboard, Andreas and Alexander have impressive filmographies, both going back to the early 2010s. As well as collaborating on many award-winning Steinerei entries, including Time for $ale, (K)night Times, Endangered, and Mord in der Manege, they have hosted 2 Steinerei contests; first in 2015 and 2024.

Maosl
Masol is best known for their Among Us brickfilms and hosting the highly successful Continue the Story collaborative series, which is just wrapping up its second year of running.

BertL
BertL is a long-standing member of the Brickfilming community, and took part in the very first THAC in 2005 with his entry Onorno. It is largely thanks to his major contributions to the Brickfilm Archival Project, that many Brickfilms from the early to late 2000s remain seen.

LOTW Studios
LOTW Studios is the current host of THAC and host of the World of Brickfilms Podcast. He is most known for his App Man series and came 1st place in BRAWL 2021, with his entry The Tracker Tracked.

The LEGO Group via the LEGO® Ambassador Network, are very generously providing us with the prizes. A huge thank you goes out to them! The 1st place winner will have the choice to pick out of the 3, followed by the 2nd place winner, who chooses between the 2 remaining prizes, with the 3rd receiving the remaining prize.

Please note that there is the possibility of supply shortages with sets and so LAN may be delayed in sending them, but the prizes we are offering are:

Zelda Deku Tree 2 in 1| Tim Burton's Disney Nightmare Before Christmas| Black and White Cat

Curtesy of Nathan Wells, as well as each receiving a LEGO set, the top 3 will each receive an additional prize of the Bricks in Motion Collection Blu-ray, featuring 29 brickfilms by 18 different members of the brickfilming community, spanning from 1979 to 2015, as well as all 33 entries to the Bricks in Motion Celebration Contest (2014).

In addition, this year there is a separate prize category: Promising Director. This will be awarded to a film that while not necessarily in the top ten, the judges feel displays the creator's passion for their work and their potential to become a great brickfilm director in the future.

Promising Director Prize; Gru and the Minions

But that's not all! This year we will be doing an additional prize draw. Anyone outside of the top 10 or the promising director, will have the chance of winning Tails’ Adventure Boat set.

All entries must clearly show the THAC 2025 logo for three uninterrupted seconds. The logos may be inserted digitally or printed out onto the set. You have 2 amazing designs to choose from; one by James Morr of Tiny Angry Dog Studios, who was part of the judging team of the very first THAC and is a two-time first place winner, and the other by Bredan Henry, also known as Ladon. He designed the very first THAC logo and is making his return, 20 years later, with this brand new design.

Several high-quality resolution versions of the THAC 2025 logo can be found HERE.

Note that I have included the intro video by Ladon, which features in the promotional videos, leading up to THAC. You can choose to include this in your entry if you want, but it is not a requirement, as any version of the logo will count.

The Twenty-four Hour Animation Contest, or THAC for short, is a Brickfilming competition that lasts exactly 24 hours. All writing, recording, animating, and editing must be completed within the span of one day. It is as challenging as it sounds, but equal parts fun and a major staple of the community!
The theme is Fulfill.
The color mod is a Red brick connected to a Green brick.
The letter mod is M.
Submit your video link to thaccontest@gmail.com. before 7:00 AM EST on January 5th, 2025, any entries sent after this time will be disqualified.

Write the subject of your email in this format:
THAC 2025 Entry, [Your username], “[Title of your film]”
For example: THAC 2025 Entry, LOTW Studios, “The Citizen of the Year 2: Bum’s Revenge”

Saturday, January the 4th at 7:00 am EST. It will end exactly 24 hours later, on Sunday, January the 5th at 7:00 am EST. You can find out how much time you have left here: https://countingdownto.com/?c=5980677

The THAC 2025 theme is Fulfill . This could be interpreted in multiple different ways. It could be a character fulfilling a personal goal, or perhaps someone achieving some form of fulfillment.

This year’s mod elements are a red brick connected to or directly touching a green brick and the letter M.

The judges this year are:

The LEGO Group via the LEGO® Ambassador Network, are very generously providing us with the prizes. A huge thank you goes out to them! The 1st place winner will have the choice to pick out of the 3, followed by the 2nd place winner, who chooses between the 2 remaining prizes, with the 3rd receiving the remaining prize.

Please note that there is the possibility of supply shortages with sets and so LAN may be delayed in sending them, but the prizes we are offering are:

In addition, this year there is a separate prize category: Promising Director. This will be awarded to a film that while not necessarily in the top ten, the judges feel displays the creator's passion for their work and their potential to become a great brickfilm director in the future.
