Frame from Your Upcoming Film

I came up with this idea when I looked at a frame I liked of my upcoming film while editing. Just try and get a shot from your upcoming film that you like and post it. I think it's nice seeing frame's from unreleased films at an early stage as it show your progress and if you get feedback, you'll know for future reference. This could potentially help less able animators improve their frames to make a good quality film. So, I'd like to know what you guys think on this frame:

You must have at least 2 feedbacks until the next person can post their frame. I hope this works out, let's see what you've got!

Has Brickfilming gone downhill?

Maybe it's just me being ignorant, but it seems like Brickfilming has gotten less 'exciting'. (can't think of a better word) It's possibly just the people I know but... People seem less enthusiastic, and there's less new brick-filmers. A few years ago, I just searched lego in the youtube search bar and clicked 'most recent' to find some new brickfilmers. Now it's pretty different.

If this is true, does anyone have any theories or ideas this is happening? (Again, this is just what I have seen :| )

Hi everybody, I finally gave up the search for a webcam/software solution for mac and installed win xp on my iMac so I could use qcp 9000 and MonkeyJam. And it works like a charm! After a year witout any brick filming at all I now have a room where I can film(!) and i'm looking forward to practise :D

My question is: would it be a good idea to export the pictures from MonkeyJam to iStopMotion for further treatment?
does anyone have any experience?

This is the update thread for our upcoming film "The Squire and the Scroll." Our movie is an adaptation of the story by Jennie Bishop (more info on the book can be found here). Here we will be regularly posting pictures and short clips from our progress. We have been in the pre-production stage of this film for over a year now, but we finally started animating this week.

This will be our best work in every aspect, from script to VFX and from cinematography to lighting. We are filming the movie with a Cannon Rebel T2i, and the final film will be available in 1080p. The estimated length of the film is 30 minutes. There will be an original score, and we are going to make most (if not all) of the sound effects ourselves.

BrickFilm Fights

Introduction

I think we can agree that some of the most exciting parts of brickfilms are the fights, we can also agree that fights can be hard to do, so that's what this thread is for. In this thread, members can challenge each other to film a fight to the death sequence in which the animator of the specific entry wins. Hopefully, this will improve fight sequences in films, and be quite entertaining for the entrant and the viewer.

Entering

To enter the challenges, you first need to post an image of your signature figure. You may also post variations of your figure so those who lack the pieces of one figure can create the other. Once that is done, you have officially entered the "arena" if you will. To get into a match, you must challenge a member who wants to be challenged. If you want to be challenged, just say so. When Challenging a member or members,(there is no maximum) the challenger must make a post saying who he or she challenges, the time limit until the deadline, and specifics, such as:

The intensity of the battle.[/*]

The maximum/minimum duration of the battle.[/*]

Banned Weapons?[/*]

Any other concerns.[/*]
...and please, keep the specifics reasonable, we don't need any 1 second battles, or 1 year deadlines.

Entry Requirements:

The entry must be for the contest, therefore having this video in the beginning or end. (Download the video!)[/*]

There must be a fight. Not a stoic man being attacked.[/*]

Keep the gore to a minimum, that means no blood swimming pools.[/*]
...Any entries that don't abide these rules will be disqualified.

Winning

We all like winning things.

When the challenge deadline has been met or all entries have been submitted, the challenger will make a post showing all the entries, then, for 3 days, people will post their vote. if 11 people haven't voted by the 3 days, the voting will extend 1 day. Whoever has the most votes wins.

Have Fun, if you have any questions, just ask them here or PM me.

Animation Challenge: Getting Electrocuted (without VFX)

Welcome to the BiM Animation Challenge thread!

The purpose of this thread is to identify particular movements, characters, and situations that are difficult to animate and then figuring out new ways to overcome those challenges.

How does it work?

Once a theme has been chosen, the community has a set amount of time to make an entry (usually a week). Once the deadline has passed, the member who chose the theme will judge the entries and decide which of the entries matched up to the challenge the best. The winner will then choose the new theme, and the cycle continues. The thread title should change to match the current challenge, but if it doesn't you'll just have to go search for it :P

Prizes

... Okay there are no prizes technically, but you will get that warm fuzzy feeling that you get from beating everyone else

*clears throat* On Saturday afternoon, I accidentally spilled a cup of soda on my laptop (it's a Dell/Vostro 1000 if any of y'all are wondering. It's also a PC) and it turned off. All my brickfilming stuff was saved on there. I'm using the regular computer, not the laptop, to type this. Me and my parents tried to dry it off, but there might be some sticky soda residue under the keys.

Nothing happened since then, it never booted up. I would love it if you guys knew what to do. If something like this has ever happened to you guys, then you know what to do. Please help me in this...my darkest hour. :twitch:

WIN iStopMotion Pro: 'Just Another LEGO Animation Contest' by spugesdu

Main contest video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Me85NmcZX94&hd=1

Rules:

. Create a LEGO stop-motion animated short on the theme of 'DISCOVERY'! How you connect your film to the theme is entirely up to you, be creative with it! Just make sure you could explain the connection if required to.

. Your video should be less than 2 minutes long, but slightly longer entries may be accepted if appropriate. There is a limit of 1 video per entrant so make it count! You can change your entry at any time before the deadline, just make sure I (spugesdu) know which is your final entry.

. All entries MUST include the contest logo for at least 3 seconds at the very beginning to be valid. Link will be included at bottom of description.

. Your video must comprise at least 80% stop-motion animation. If you want to use CGI it cannot take up more than 20% of the total running time (scenes with both CGI and stop-motion compositions won't count towards that).

. Post your entry as a YouTube video response to the rules video. You must be subscribed to spugesdu to qualify as an entrant too! Link will be included at bottom of description where you can subscribe.

. The deadline for entries is February 1st 2012 and the winners will be announced shortly afterwards! Be sure to take time with your entry, it's not a race and getting in earlier doesn't mean you'll have a better chance. Try and use your whole two months if you can. Videos created before December 1st will not qualify.
