WIN iStopMotion Pro: 'Just Another LEGO Animation Contest' by spugesdu

Main contest video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Me85NmcZX94&hd=1

Rules:

. Create a LEGO stop-motion animated short on the theme of 'DISCOVERY'! How you connect your film to the theme is entirely up to you, be creative with it! Just make sure you could explain the connection if required to.

. Your video should be less than 2 minutes long, but slightly longer entries may be accepted if appropriate. There is a limit of 1 video per entrant so make it count! You can change your entry at any time before the deadline, just make sure I (spugesdu) know which is your final entry.

. All entries MUST include the contest logo for at least 3 seconds at the very beginning to be valid. Link will be included at bottom of description.

. Your video must comprise at least 80% stop-motion animation. If you want to use CGI it cannot take up more than 20% of the total running time (scenes with both CGI and stop-motion compositions won't count towards that).

. Post your entry as a YouTube video response to the rules video. You must be subscribed to spugesdu to qualify as an entrant too! Link will be included at bottom of description where you can subscribe.

. The deadline for entries is February 1st 2012 and the winners will be announced shortly afterwards! Be sure to take time with your entry, it's not a race and getting in earlier doesn't mean you'll have a better chance. Try and use your whole two months if you can. Videos created before December 1st will not qualify.

Prizes, sponsored by Boinx Software!

Best film of the contest: 1 x License for Boinx iStopMotion Pro

Three runners-up: 1 x License for Boinx iStopMotion Express (each)

Good luck with your entry!

Hi ! I'm Sirkuraz, i'm french and i made a brickfilm competition on www.brick-a-brack.net

Here are the rules : http://www.brick-a-brack.net/t4636-concours-adapter-un-tableau-en-brickfilm

It is a french forum but your goal (if you want to participate) is to adapt a picture drawn before the XXth century.
So, you make a short brickfilm of 1:30 maximum and 20 seconds minimum (a comedy if you want) with several characters who act on a brief intrigue.

I hope you'll like it :) !

The Second Ten Lines Contest Starts Now! [Ended, Results now up!]

This contest has ended. Check out the results here!

Here's the original description of the contest from the original thread:
This is a very wide-open contest that sort of focuses on script writing. It's meant as a nice activity while many of us take our winter/Christmas breaks.
I had no idea that the original contest had been during Winter Break when I posted the introduction thread for this! It was mere luck that we decided to have it during this time.

Here's the rules. There's some new rules, as well. Some are slightly edited from the introduction thread, so please make sure to read these.

1. You may choose ten lines from our list of thirty lines. If you're crazy enough to do so, you may use more than ten.

2. You may write your script any way that you like, just as long as you include the lines listed in their original form. Do not change the lines in any way.

3. If your first language is something other than English, you may translate the lines into your own language and you can have them in your own language in your film. As long as you have subtitles, written
in understandable English, it is fine.

4. While the original contest did not allow for illegal material (copyrighted music, etc.), we will allow you to use copyrighted material IF you credit the person who made it.

5. NO extreme violence, profanity or sexual references. Mild violence and words like "crap", "hell" and "damn" are okay.

====

Below you will find a list of lines. You are required to choose no less than 10 of them for inclusion in your script. The lines must be either spoken or written whole, uninterrupted and in their entirety during your film.
THE LINES

"It runs in the family."

"I don't really wanna talk about it."

"Let me show you how a real woman does it."

"And I will rule the world!"

"This couldn't happen to just anybody!"

"I have exactly zero faith in you."

"Well… okay, I suppose we could just go with that."

"A little more to the right."

"I can't believe I'm doing this."

"No, no… THIS is how you shave a cat."

"Relax, I'm just going to mail a letter."

"It'll work, just give it time."

"What a dastardly deed!"

"Well, not 'borrowed' per se…"

"What does that button do?"

"I'm telling dad!"

"Oh no, here comes the train!"

"That's enough hitchhiking for one day."

"Enough chit-chat, let's boogie!"

"Pfff, like that will ever happen!"

"Too many potatoes!"

"My eyes!"

"I can see my house from here!"

"Stop looking at me like that, I didn't do it!"

"That's enough food for you, young man!"

"Am I supposed to learn some kind of moral from this?"

"I'm sick and tired of avalanches!"

"I can see you over there!"

"What a plot twist!"

"You'll never catch me alive!"
FIGHT CLUB Brickfilming Contest Hosted by thefourmonkeys

Thefourmonkeys are hosting a brickfilming contest called FIGHT CLUB. This is the first time we have posted a topic about one of our contests on BiM. We wanted to improve the number of quality participants in this contest, so posting here was obvious since some great brickfilmers are regulars on this website.

Our past contests have had from 200-400 entries, so winning the grand prize or just winning a category in a thefourmonkeys' contest is quite an accomplishment considering the competition.

Please checkout the contest video on our YouTube channel.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDyASEf3rqQ

RULES:

- 1st Rule: You do not talk about FIGHT CLUB.

- 2nd Rule: You DO NOT talk about FIGHT CLUB
(basically rules 1 & 2 just mean we are not answering questions about it. Those rules are just our homage to the original movie) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agi8PUmlAKU

- 3rd Rule: Make a brickfilm fight scene. Only 2 minifigures in the video are allowed to fight. You can have other people in the background if you like, but only 2 can fight in the entire video. Use Lego minifigures only, no Mega Bloks, Bionicles, or anything else.

- 4th Rule: The FIGHT CLUB logo must be shown at the beginning of your video for at least 5 seconds, just like we did in the contest video.
Here is the link to the logo which you MUST use:
http://brickfilmersguild.com/elgg/pg/photos/download/12762/inline/

- 5th Rule: Violence with blood is acceptable. Guns and all other weapons are allowed. No offensive language or material, meaning no sexual or racial content.

- 6th Rule: Your video must be at least 10 seconds long, and no more than 3 minutes. You must have at least 4 seconds of actual stop motion animation in your video.

- 7th Rule: The video must be have a 2011 date. If you have old footage you want to include in your new video that is fine. As long as ALL of the rules are followed it will be accepted. Contest entries are being accepted NOW! You do not need to wait until a certain date to enter. Just make sure you enter before the deadline.
The deadline is December 31, 2011 - 11:59 PST
(0800 GMT)
Judging begins January 1, 2012.
DO NOT ask when the results will be released.

- 8th Rule: Do not ask questions to thefourmonekys about the FIGHT CLUB rules. Please just read & follow the rules, they are very clear.

- 9th Rule: You are allowed to submit as many videos as you want as long as you follow ALL of the rules in each video.

- 10th Rule: Name your video FIGHT CLUB (all caps) just like we did in this video. Do not name it anything except FIGHT CLUB.
You can add a different name at the bottom of the logo like we did in this video, but the title of the video must say FIGHT CLUB just like ours.

SUBMISSION:
Post a video response to our contest video on our YouTube by the deadline. If your video response doesn't appear after 48 hours, then you didn't follow the rules and it was deleted.
(To leave a video response on YouTube, just click inside the box where you leave comments, you will see the prompt to add a video response)

PRIZES:
Grand Prize will win a Brickarms Spy Pack.

Most Funny, Best Fight, and Best Animation will win a Brickarm or minifigure of our choice.

The contest results will be revealed in a video (typically a brickfilm) on our YouTube channel. It will be released sometime at the beginning of the new year (See Rule #1). We will list the winners here and we will make a playlist on our YouTube Channel featuring the winning videos.

The results are in and were announced live on Ustream just moments ago! A big thank you to the judges (KG, Jargon, and Squash) and Fine Clonier for lending prizes to this contest. I really enjoyed running it (despite some punctuality issues), and I think it turned out great. There were some really great films who barely didn't make the cut for the top 20, as well as the top 10. For that I have to thank you all for your enthusiasm and creativity in making your films.

The top 20 and their scores are as follows (don't mind the colors):

Congratulations to Smeagol for winning first place, SuburbAnimationStudios for winning second, and Nick Durron for winning third! To claim your prizes, please PM me your e-mails, and I'll help you get in touch with Kaminoan.

Prizes have very graciously been donated by Kaminoan (Jared Burks) from Fine Clonier Custom Minifig Decals & Accessories.

Hey, everyone.

This is a reprisal of an old contest that was held over at brickfilms.com back in 2005.

The point of this contest is to create a film with at least ten out of thirty lines of dialog that we give you. The film has to have at least ten of the lines that are listed. You can have your own dialog, but you have to include TEN of the lines that are listed.

Here's the winning entry from the last time it was held.

When the contest starts, a thread will be posted titled "Ten Lines Starts Now", which will have all the lines you can use.

Rules:

Your film HAS to have at least ten of the thirty lines listed in the thread to be posted when the contest starts.[/*]

Your film must have a minimum of at least 30 seconds of animation.[/*]

The film must feature primarily stop-motion animation with LEGO, or similar products (Mega Blox, Best-Lock etc.) Your entries may feature live-action, CGI, Flash or other kinds of animation as long as the stop-motion LEGO is the main focus.[/*]

Use of copyrighted material (music, sound effects, etc.) is permitted, but discouraged.[/*]

NO excessive violence, strong language or sexual themes. Mild violence and words like crap, hell, etc. are okay.[/*]

Make sure to include "Made for the Ten Lines Contest" in your opening or closing credits.[/*]

You can make more than one entry.[/*]

You can upload your entry to either YOUTUBE or VIMEO.[/*]
If you have any questions about the rules, do ask. Just make sure we haven't already answered your question in this thread.

Timeframe:

When the contest starts, a thread will be posted titled "Ten Lines Starts Now".

The contest starts on DECEMBER 26th, 2011 at 12:00 PM GMT, and ends TWO WEEKS LATER at the same time it starts. You have two whole weeks to make your film.

Judging:

Entries will be judged according to their use of the lines, storyline and execution.

The judges are Hazzat, Jargon, Littlebrick and myself.

Submission:

When you finish your entry, send a working link to jonathan@justkidden.co.cc. The subject title should be "Ten Lines, [your username], [title of your film]".

THAC 9 Starts NOW!

Your horses (or ponies, depending) need no longer be held, as the ninth Twenty-four Hour Animation Contest, and the third BiM THAC, has begun! Feel free to ask any and all questions in this thread, and I will be sure to answer as quickly as possible. I will try to be present in the #brickfilms IRC channel as much as possible, but if I'm not around, there are plenty of friendly folk who would be more than happy to answer your questions. As a last resort, you can try tweeting the @BricksInMotion twitter feed, as I'll keep an eye on it throughout the day. You have exactly twenty-four hours to complete your entries, so good luck to each and every one of you! Note that due to my lateness, the cutoff for submissions is now 2 pm GMT.

[h]Theme[/h]

The theme for this year's THAC is "Whatever You Want". Only the mod elements must be incorporated in this year's THAC.

If you're just dying for a theme, here a few we tossed around before we decided they might be misperceived as self-serving, feel free to draw inspiration from them though it's not necessary that you do so:

Behind the Scenes
The Elephant in the Room
Contrast
Running Late (harhar)
[h]The Mod Elements[/h]

Letter Mod

This year's letter mod will be the letter "L." The regulations are as follows:

The L does not necessarily have to take the form of an upright B, so it can be flipped, or rotated any number of degrees.[/*]

The letter L needs to be capitalized[/*]

The allowed variants are is the number 7.[/*]

For clarification, this is the only allowed letter mod, and no other letters or numbers will be accepted.[/*]

The mod must be visible in every frame without the color mod.[/*]
Color Mod

This year's color mod will be a white LEGO piece connected to a blue LEGO piece. The regulations are as follows:

The blue and white must be LEGO or a similar make and must be touching, if not connected.[/*]

Any pieces may be used (including minifigures), so long as they are the correct colors [light gray or "bley", but not dark gray, is acceptable as a variant for white, and any shade of blue is acceptable for blue other than bley].[/*]

The mod must be visible in every frame without the letter mod.[/*]
Mod Application

There are two mod elements, so you can use them interchangeably in your frames, but one or the other must be present.[/*]

Thus, you must utilize one of the following three combinations of mod elements in every frame of your entry:

Only the color mod.[/*]

Only the letter mod.[/*]

Both the color and letter mod.[/*]
[/*]

In your credits, the mod elements need not be present, unless pictures or videos are included.[/*]
Note: It is not original to make a film about how the element changes from scene to scene and appears in every shot. The element is not intended to be the focus for the film, just a way to ensure entries are made within the 24-hour time period.

[h]Format[/h]

This year, only two methods of uploading will be accepted: YouTube and Vimeo.[/*]

If uploading on YouTube, change the privacy from "Public" to "Unlisted". This means that the only way to watch the film is if you have the link. Send the link as shown below[/*]

If uploading on Vimeo, while uploading, in the "Privacy" tab, select "Private" and "Password protected." This will only allow viewers with the password (which you will e-mail along with the link) to watch your film.[/*]
[h]Submission[/h]

Please send all entries to thacnine [AT] gmail.com by tomorrow, December 18, 2011 at 2 PM GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). Any entries sent after this time will be, unfortunately, disqualified.

All e-mails should contain the following information at the bare minimum:

[h]Rules[/h]

Entries must be animated and must be primarily composed of stop motion animation. 3D, Flash, or other animation techniques may be used to supplement the stop-motion but may not be the main focus.[/*]

The film should contain LEGO or similar 'brick' construction toys, such as MEGA Bloks.[/*]

There must be at least 30 seconds of animation in the entry. There is no maximum length.[/*]

Joint entries are allowed, as are multiple entries.[/*]

Entries may not contain adult language, graphic violence (blood and/or gore) or sexual themes.[/*]

While copyrighted/trademarked properties are allowed, you are discouraged from basing your movie off of preexisting films or franchises (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc.). It's not original, and will hurt your chances in the judging process. [/*]

Copyrighted music may be used, but if you so choose, you are permitted to have created original music beforehand. Music does not have to have been created within the 24 hour time limit.[/*]

If you want a refresher on prizes, visit the THAC 9 thread.[/*]
[h]Entrants[/h]

As the day goes on, I'll update here with a list of people whose entries I have received. A D next to a name will indicate a disqualification (please don't make me disqualify you!). In order of reception:

Howdy folks!

THAC is almost upon us, and I'd like to take this opportunity to fill you all in on the specifics of the contest. The ninth Bricks in Motion Twenty-four Hour Animation Contest (THAC NEIN) will begin at 12:00 pm (noon), GMT, on December 17, 2011. This is the third BiM THAC, the 9th for the brickfilming community.

[h]Rules[/h]

Starting at 12 noon GMT on December 17, 2011 (Greenwich Mean Time), you will have 24 hours to script, animate, edit, and upload a film. Any entries not received by the end of the 24 hour time period will unfortunately have to be disqualified. Here is a list of cities and their corresponding times, all set to noon GMT.[/*]

The theme will be announced in a thread titled "THAC 9 Starts NOW!" in the Contests & Community Projects Projects forum.[/*]

To prevent entrants from creating their films ahead of time, the contest theme, a crucial thematic aspect that entries should include, will not be announced until the contest begins.[/*]

In addition to the theme there will be two "mod" elements. The mod elements are visual elements that must be included in every frame of your film to ensure that nothing is animated before the beginning of the 24-hour time period; they are different for every THAC and will be announced at the start time. There will be two kinds of "mod" elements, and entrants only need to ensure that one of the two elements is present in any frame of footage for their film. The two elements may be used interchangeably throughout the film, and must be physically included in the set, not added in post-production.[/*]

The first element will be a letter of the alphabet or a numeral. This symbol will not need to be used as a letter or numeral in the context of the film, though it can be; a clear effort to include something in the shape of the letter or number will suffice.[/*]

The second element will be two LEGO (or other plastic brick) components of two given colors connected to each other, whether by locking into each other by the studs of the brick, or as pieces in a minifigure or technic construction.
Baseplates and floor pieces will not be allowed to count.[/*]
Note: It is not original to make a film about how the element changes from scene to scene and appears in every shot. The element is not intended to be the focus for the film, just a way to ensure entries are made within the 24-hour time period. Use your brain.

Entries must be animated and must be primarily composed of stop motion animation. 3D, Flash, or other animation techniques
may be used to supplement the stop-motion but may not be the main focus.[/*]

The film should contain LEGO or similar 'brick' construction toys, such as MEGA Bloks.[/*]

There must be at least 30 seconds of animation in the entry. There is no maximum length.[/*]

Joint entries are allowed, as are multiple entries.[/*]

Entries may not contain adult language, graphic violence (blood and/or gore) or sexual themes.[/*]

While copyrighted/trademarked properties are allowed, you are discouraged from basing your movie off of preexisting films
or franchises (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc.). It's not original, and will hurt your chances in the judging process. [/*]

Copyrighted
music may be used, but if you do not wish to do so, you are permitted to create original music beforehand; music does not have
to be created within the 24 hour time limit.[/*]
[h]Length and Format[/h]

This year, only two ways of uploading will be accepted: YouTube and Vimeo. The reason for this is to establish pre-determined standards so that judges and myself don't have to deal with downloading, converting, etc. multitudes of file types or different websites. Please plan accordingly.[/*]

If uploading on YouTube, change the privacy from "Public" to "Unlisted". This means that the only way to watch the film is if you have the link. Send the link in an e-mail afterwards.[/*]

If uploading on Vimeo, while uploading, in the "Privacy" tab, select "Private" and "Password protected." This will only allow viewers with the password (which you will e-mail along with the link) to watch your film.[/*]

Send all e-mails to thacnine [AT] gmail.com[/*]
[h]Judging[/h]
Judging will occur over the next few weeks after the contest has ended. The judging panel has yet to be decided. Also, don't worry, the actual process will be much less complicated than the last time I ran THAC.

[h]Prizes[/h]
Prizes have very graciously been donated by Kaminoan (Jared Burks) from Fine Clonier Custom Minifig Decals & Accessories.

First Place: Kaminoan's book Minifigure Customization: Populate Your World! and $10 in-store credit!
Second Place: $7.50 in-store credit!
Third Place: $5 in-store credit!

I am looking forward to seeing the creation all of your great films! Fire it up, y'all!

I present to you THAC-NOT, the Twenty-four Hour Animation Contest - Not On Time! The rules and everything are the same as THAC's. THAC-NOT starts at this very moment (1:20 pm GMT), and will end in 24 hours from now (1:20pm GMT on Sunday, December 18).

Theme
This THAC-NOT's theme is butts!

Mod elements
As usual, we have two mod elements. However, things will be slightly different.

The letter/number mod element is B for butts.[/*]

Instead of a colour mod element, we shall have an object mod element. The object mod element will be a minifig bending over, seen from behind, like this.[/*]
Happy animating and good luck, everyone!

PS (highlight to see): Please don't enter. I am just kidding.

Who Can Vote
To be eligible to vote, you must have been a member on BricksInMotion.com before July 1st, 2010.

How to Vote
You will choose ONE film from the shortlist to vote for the Viewer's Choice Award. To clarify, this award is essentially Best Film, but voted by the community instead of judges. Send the title of the film and the director's name to the user BiMA10 through a private message. You may vote for one film only, if multiple films are included, your ballot will be disqualified. Please try to watch all of the films at least once, it is a large list, but many of them you will probably have already seen. This is to avoid unfair bias.

When Can I Vote?
Ballots will be accepted from now until Sunday, July 31st, 2011. This gives you almost 3 weeks to watch the films and decide.

Results
Results will be announced (along with the other awards) at a later date, currently undecided. The exact date and time will be announced later.
Remember, send your ballot to the user BiMA10 with the title and director name of the film. You will have until Sunday, July 31st.

THAC 9 - When?

With the Christmas season nearly upon us once again, so too is another Twenty-four Hour Animation Contest. There's normally a bit of deliberation over what the date should be, and it's normally the first weekend after New Year's, but this year it's a little more tricky.

A glance at your 2012 calendar will tell you that the weekends around that date are:

17th/18th[/*]

24th/25th (Christmas - no contest)[/*]

31st/1st (New Year's - no contest)[/*]

7th/8th[/*]
so the normal formula doesn't work here, as the first weekend after New Years is normally still just within the Christmas holidays. It is not so this year.

So the problem with the 17th/18th is that you won't be able to use all the cool new LEGO you're getting for Christmas (which is the reason we have it around Christmastime).
And the problem with the 7th/8th is that we're all back to school/work so staying up for 24 hours might not be a good idea.

So we're calling a vote. When would you like THAC 9 to be? Needless to say, the date with the most votes will almost certainly be the actual date (assuming we can get someone to run it on that date).

The Festival of Souls 2 - The Results!

So, I guess better late then never. The results actually had to re-counted twice due to a miscalculation - however all the nominees were still correctly placed. So, before I get down to business, let me just take some time to thanks all the judges*, our sponsors, BrickWarriors (www.brickwarriors.com), and all additional helpers, along with our brilliant contestants, who made it possible essentially for me to host this. I think as an overview of this contest, it was a mixed bag, some entries were frankly, not so great, and some, were actually fantastic. It was a risk to make the theme solely horror, but it was interesting to see people's take on it. Anyway, without further ado, I give you the winners!

First off, Best Technical. While a film should be taken on both it's merits and it's overall balance, it's fair to say technical aspects are hugely needed. And so our top 3!

BEST TECHNICAL: (winner gets $20 of BrickWarriors Goodies)
3. Appearance on the Road, by Harry and Billy Brick!
2. Patient 24, by Spencer Olson!
1. The Dark Woods, by Wilson Weirich!

Well done, Wilson! You presented a very good entry, which overall stood very solid and polished. You will receive $20 on whatever BrickWarriors items you want!

Secondly we have Best Newcomer! We all know what it's like when you start off - it's a learning experience, and part of it is entering competitions. But it's only once in a blue moon you ever actually win, and thats why I'm dedicating a category to those newer entrants, so they can have an opportunity to win. And here are our top 3!

BEST NEWCOMER: (winner gets $20 of BrickWarriors Goodies)
3. Camping, by FuryBroStudios!
2. Lego Halloween Story, by Superben!
1. Paranoia, by Dream Brick Productions!

Congrats, Dream Brick! You delighted and surprised everyone with a very strong entry. It held up well both technically and horror wise. You win $20 worth of prizes from BrickWarriors!

So now onto our second biggest category, Best Horror! It takes a lot to scare anyone, but especially in LEGO. Surprisingly, a handful of people carried it off. However only one entry really scared the judges, and that was...

BEST HORROR: (winner gets $20 of BrickWarriors Goodies)
3. The Dollhouse, by KinzCove!
2. The Scream, by Max Butcher!
1. Patient 24, by Spencer Olson!

A tremendous entry, and a favorite amongst many of the judges. Really quite frightening in many ways, a lot of the offscreen action was more scary then onscreen. A wise decision, given the fact it is animating with Plastic figures. You win $20 worth of BrickWarriors goodies of your choice!

And now to the biggie. Best overall. It combines technicalities, story telling ability, filmmaking talent, and creativity. It was awfully hard to choose, but one entry in particular managed to budge ahead, but only just. And the award for best Overall, goes to...

BEST OVERALL: (winner gets $40 of BrickWarriors Goodies)
3. Disturbed, by SlyCooperFan!
2. Patient 24, by Spencer Olson!
1. The Scream, by Max Butcher!

A truly awe-stricking entry. A perfect mix of everything, bundled into a both frightening and entertaining brickfilm, which overall took home the big award in the end. Well done Max, you win a bundle of BrickWarriors items worth a total of $40!

And that's that for this year! The winner's will be contacted with information on how they will claim their prizes very shortly. Remember to tune in my Vokle tonight, where I'll be discussing the Festival of Souls, which entry came where, and you can ask me questions! Also remember to check out the FoS2 playlist, where you can find all the entries. Until next time, everyone!

THAC 8 Starts NOW (Time's Up!)

THAC 8 has officially started! This is Bricks in Motion's second official THAC, but the eighth one held inside the brickfilming community. You have exactly twenty-four hours to complete your entries, so good luck to all.

[h]Theme[/h]

The theme for this year's THAC is "Ambition". This can be interpreted a number of ways -- it can be integrated into the story of your film, or in your approach to creating the film. We encourage taking creative license in your interpretation of the theme. Please don't give us a plot and ask if it's ambitious. It's all up to you, so surprise us!

The Mod Elements

[h]LETTER MOD[/h]

This year's letter mod will be the letter "M." The regulations are as follows:

	1.	The M does not necessarily have to take the form of an upright M, so it can be flipped, or rotated any number of degrees.
	2.	The allowed variant is the letter "W".
	3.	For clarification, these are the only allowed letter mods, and no other letters or numbers will be accepted.
	4.	The mod must be visible in each frame of each shot, if the color mod is not used.

[h]COLOR MOD[/h]

This year's color mod will be a red LEGO piece connected to a green LEGO piece. The regulations are as follows:

	1.	The red and green pieces must be LEGO or a similar make and must be touching, if not connected.
	2.	Any pieces may be used (including minifigures), so long as they are the correct colors [lime is acceptable as a variant for green].
	3.	The mod must be visible in each frame of each shot, if the letter mod is not used.

[h]MOD APPLICATION[/h]

• As you can see, there are two mod elements, so you can use them interchangeably in your frames, but one or the other must be present.

• Thus, you must utilize one of the following three combinations of mod elements in each frame of your entry:
	A.	Only the color mod.
	B.	Only the letter mod.
	C.	Both the color and letter mod.

• Remember that in your credits, the mod elements do not have to be present, unless pictures or videos are included.

Note: It is not original to make a film about how the element changes from scene to scene and appears in every shot. The element is not intended to be the focus for the film, just a way to ensure entries are made within the 24-hour time period.

[h]Submission[/h]

Please send all entries to nxtmaniac@gmail.com by tomorrow, December 19, 2010 at 12:40 PM (40 min after noon) GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) (fixed clock here. Please remember to INCLUDE YOUR USERNAME IN YOUR E-MAIL. Any entries sent after this time will be, unfortunately, disqualified. In your e-mail, include the names (username or otherwise) of everybody who helped you out with your film and a download link for the film. To ensure that all entries are viewable by everyone, a version of the video with a maximum file size of 10 megabytes per minute must be submitted within the 24 hour time period. For compatibilty and consistency, entries must be encoded using one of the following codecs:

Realvideo (Realmedia), DivX (in a .avi file), .wmv (Windows Media) or .mov (Quicktime).

You may also upload your video to YouTube, but you MUST set is as unlisted/private so that it is not public. You are welcome to make your films public as soon the clock strikes 12:40 (GMT) tomorrow, but not a second before. You may upload a high quality version if you want but your film thread must contain the one you submit in the e-mail. Acceptable sites for hosting are ones like MediaFire.

[h]Rules[/h]

• Entries must be animated and must be primarily composed of stop motion animation. 3D, Flash, or other animation techniques may be used to supplement the stop-motion but may not be the main focus.

• The film should contain LEGO or similar 'brick' construction toys, such as MEGA Bloks.

• There must be at least 30 seconds of animation in the entry. There is no maximum length.

• Joint entries are allowed, as are multiple entries.

• Entries may not contain adult language, graphic violence (blood and/or gore) or sexual themes.

• While copyrighted/trademarked properties are allowed, you are discouraged from basing your movie off of preexisting films or franchises (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc.). It's not original, and will hurt your chances in the judging process. Copyrighted music may be used, but if you so choose, you are permitted to have created original music beforehand. Music does not have to be created within the 24 hour time limit.

• If you want a refresher on prizes, visit the THAC 8 thread.

[h]Sponsor Logo[/h]

If you want to be eligible for the 10$ additional prize, you must include this logo in your film for at least 2 seconds. If you upload to YouTube, you will also need a store link available in the description: http://brickathon.com
You can read more about the prizes here.

Introduction

Hello and welcome to the Festival of Souls 2! The successor to the previously acclaimed Horror contest. Last year we garnered almost 30 entries, and we're hoping to improve on that again this year! We're also hoping to see some really scary entries! That's right, the more creepy the better! Aim to make the judges pee in their pants with fear!

Categories

The first of these two theme this year is… *Drumroll*… SUSPENSE! That means you need to build up tension in your film. Make us quake in fear as the killer slowly approaches the unsuspecting victim, armed with a bloody axe…

The second of our two themes is… SUPERNATURAL! Show us monsters, beasts, telepathy killers, possessed werewolves, anything that's 'supernatural'! Although let me just say that we're not looking for Sci-Fi aliens and the sort, as this is a horror contest.

Now for the PRIZES!

I would recommend not showing it publicly until at least October 20th if you want to avoid others copying you. Please display them on either YouTube, DailyMotion, or Vimeo. Send all entries to me via PM or post them as a response the official video on YouTube.

Judges

The judges are as follows:

Lucas Mass
Legogod
Vik
Myself
Hazzat
and Jonathan Williams (Jstudios)

Support
If you wish to support this contest it'd be great if you would pass it on by giving links, making promotional videos, etc. Also, if you're very kind and generous and have a few extra bob in your back pocket, you could donate to the contest, but that is optional.

I hope to see some great entries! Feel free to ask anything you like, and I'll look forward to receiving the entries (Remember to visit the update thread in the Production forum to post pics of your film, and chat about the competition.)!
