Topic: Help! Does anyone know how to produce a sand storm effect?

Hai, I need a effect where it's a light dust storm breezing though. Sort of like a snow effect except with sand. If anyone could help me create a effect or guide me to a program, that would be swell.

Help is gladly appreciated...

Hmm, if you could get some sand-coloured cotton wool, and make clouds of it swirl around, it might look good. mini/smile

So here's the thing, I've A: Lost interest, and B: have no time to animate anymore. Expect little from me in the future. WIP projects have been pretty much abandoned and my LEGO collection is boxed up. No, you can't have it. mini/tongue But do not fear, I may return to it one day.

Re: Help! Does anyone know how to produce a sand storm effect?

I don't have Adobe After Effects. And I'm not willing to buy it. lol. Cotton seems like a good idea, thanks Brickyman. I just really want a automated, free and easy way to produce a sandy effect.

Re: Help! Does anyone know how to produce a sand storm effect?

use a fog machine. Hazzat used it in his Sam and Stinky special and it looks fairly good.

Re: Help! Does anyone know how to produce a sand storm effect?

Or do it with Gimp/Photoshop:
Make a new layer, take the colour you want, download brushes(abstract brushes maybe), automatize it.

Re: Help! Does anyone know how to produce a sand storm effect?

Roryl, that software costs a thousand dollars, who in their right mind would spend that money just to make a sandstorm effect?

Re: Help! Does anyone know how to produce a sand storm effect?

Get some sand from a park so they know it is a sandstorm.
P.S: To obvious

Use Axogon Composer. I understand that you can make a cloud effect, just color it and make it really fast.

Re: Help! Does anyone know how to produce a sand storm effect?

Sqirlz is used for rain effects, maybe you can do something with it, and it is in the free software list.

No, squirlz is only rain, water and snow. However Axogon is also on the free software list.

Re: Help! Does anyone know how to produce a sand storm effect?

Yeah but maybe by screwing around with squirlz you could get a good effect somehow. Mis color the snow and such..

I don't think it's possible to make the snow a different color, otherwise it would probably work.

Take your photos with baking paper in front of your camera.
Note: That only works when your baking paper is a bit transparent.
