Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Part of me thinks that this a a very crudely made lightsaber, mainly because the blade looks so much more wild and flame like (as if the maker didn't know how to make a proper one). With that in mind, I think this villain may think that these cross guard blades might protect his hands, but if he's not careful he could actually hurt himself. Thus, in his pride of thinking that he has created an invisible lightsaber, he has actually created a blade that could do more damage to himself than to his opponent.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Well, it's possible the art of lightsaber building was lost (Luke being the last to correctly construct one).  It may be that it took 30 years for a new generation of Jedi and Sith to relearn everything.

Yes.

Spoiler (click to read)

Also keep in mind that some people are saying that Luke may have been captured by some Sith force (possibly the Inquisitors).

If true, then there will be no one left to pass on the teachings of the Jedi. Even if some of the Jedi (like Kanan) survived order 66, they would most likely have all been killed or died of natural causes due to this film being set 30 years after Return if the Jedi.

I've heard this rumour, and others. I really hope it isn't true.

Because the full rumour says he got captured directly after RotJ, so the Luke we see by the time of the events of 7 may no longer be the Luke we know and love.

That is just too funny, Sloth.

Some are saying that it was 20 years after RotJ and not immediately after.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

I think Abrams focuses not enough on creating good dialogue. Don't get me.wrong, he's definitely got a great mind for visuals, and the writing for Super 8 was good, but after watching Star Trek: Into Darkness, I don't have high hopes on the writing side of this movie. But that's just my opinion judging by Abrams' past films. I personally cannot wait for VII!

Ocri and company were responsible for the script.

still, he chose the project. He wasn't forced to direct it. If he (in my opinion) has bad taste in dialogue, then  i don't care for his films that much. I'd rather see a movie in 360p with an amazing story/dialogue than a piece of garbage in 4K.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

I thought the dialog on the first season of LOST was all pretty sharp. I'm hoping Orci and Kurtzman were the problem. And they've got Lawrence Kasdan cowriting. (Wrote Empire Strikes Back, admittedly hasn't made anything good in a long time, and has made a lot of bad stuff, too)

Or, scroll to the end of the last post (or the top of the first) on the page and click "Reply", if you don't want to quote.

I feel a great disturbance in the Force. It was as if George Lucas cried out in terror and was suddenly silenced. I feel something terrible has happened.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

It's not necessarily a bad thing.  Given  Lucas' recent history with the franchise (the Prequel Trilogy), I think we're better off with just Lucas' name and not his ideas.

Agreed. For once, I'd like to see more of a fresh take on a tired idea in a tired franchise.
