this looks awesome, Im so pumped. In my script I have about the same amount of violence as I had in "Saved" is that ok? I don't really think its very graphic but Im just wondering.
Thanks so much

Hey. I just wanted to quick clarify something with my script, as there is one sentence that could be troublesome. I don't want to spoil anything, but what's said is this: "...you can take your ***spoilers*** to hell." Would that be acceptable for language?
Sorry for the delay. I've been busy editing the documentary and didn't see these new questions.
If you win, how are you contacted? Through email? a private message? Forums? Please PM me if you know! Thanks!
It'll be announced publicly and we'll send you a forum PM.

That sounds like it's not using the word in a profane context per se, so you should be okay.
In terms of using a soundtrack, I have found music that YouTube is accepting as viewable worldwide as long as I don't monetize. Is this acceptable? I'm looking at a few that fit these guidelines, all are older music and some are in the public domain. Thank you!
It's probably not acceptable. YouTube not taking a film down is a very low standard as far as copyright status; the rule for the purpose of this contest is against using copyrighted music you don't have full legal rights to use in your film.
Older music is tricky, too; unless you're talking about music recorded before 1923, it is unlikely to be in the public domain. For instance, a recording of Beethoven music you find online is not necessarily in the public domain because while Beethoven's composition is in the public domain, the recording likely is not. You'd need royalty free, public domain, or creative commons licensed recordings to be able to use them in your film.

No trademarked properties which might be confused with commercial enterprises may be used. This means you can not use storylines based on characters from Star Wars, Marvel, Ninjago, or other trademarked series.
Harborlight's citation is correct. We don't want trademarked characters or characters who are part of copyrighted intellectual property. This would have exceptions of course, such as characters from public domain literature (eg: Don Quixote, Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, Odysseus, or Dante Alighieri).
I'm looking forward to it!! This'll be the first time I'll have ever taken part in a BIM competition!

For entrants looking for some visual inspiration, here's a neat video I came across.
Can we post images of our sets or WIP on things like Instagram?
Can we post images of our sets or WIP on things like Instagram?
Yep! As the topic post says:
Q: May we post trailers, images, or other work-in-progress elements of our film publicly on the forum?
A: This is encouraged! Feel free to post about the progress on your film in the forums. You can even make a thread devoted to your progress on a film if you like.
Even though it says "on the forum", I'm sure you can do it on social media, there is nothing stopping you. Just don't release the entire film.
