Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I agree, black belt and purple leg opposite the purple arm would look nice. A purple belt might even look nice.

Here are two versions of the modified figure. What do you think?

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Maybe try it with the purple leg on the other side, so it's not on the same side as the arm? That may help to balance it off.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

The second one looks pretty good, with the purple limbs being opposite one another.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I agree, I like the second one.

Here are the main characters for my upcoming, as of yet untitled bank heist brickfilm.

The designs aren't 100% final, but we'll see.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Here's a kinda odd, kinda interesting character I put together recently when I was *supposed* to be doing something useful, like actually animating. Apparently she's some type of space pirate captain. Kinda turned out cool, but doubt I'll get to use her any time soon.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I like it, aside from the blue hand, which feels a little out-of-place in terms of the overal colour scheme. Nice to see a female pirate captain, too.

Where did you get the trans-lime hook from?

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Thanks Jampot!

I gave her the blue hand in an attempt to make her look a bit more random/ragtag. I didn't want it to look too much like she was wearing a uniform, as she is a pirate after all. I guess it did just end up looking funny instead. I acquired the hook from a box of old 90's minifigs I acquired a few weeks back. I think it originally came from an aquanauts set.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Nice fig Brickcrazy. I agree the blue hand seems out of place. I'd suggest trying a black one instead so it looks like a glove.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Well, I messed with the design a bit more, cut out the randomness, and added epaulets. I also like naming all my characters, even ones I never end up getting to use. Thus, she's know known in my strange little universe as Captain Voleta Bolt until further notice. mini/wink

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Since I now have access to my LEGO collection for the first time in several months, I decided to make a bunch of minifigures to get back into the swing of things, based off of various concepts and character ideas I've had during this time.

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7315/26282846623_9c1a1fc321.jpg

First off, some random cyberpunk/sci-fi minifigs I put together: An average citizen, a cyber-nerd, a pizza delivery guy, a "business entrepreneur", and some sort of technician.

Next up are some bounty hunter types who pursue their quarries in the big cities as well as the more lawless reaches of space.

I also made some sci-fi soldiers: A government black-ops agent, a corporate assassin, a basic soldier, a heavy weapons trooper, and a really heavy weapons trooper.

The heads of a rather mysterious and shadowy organization.  From left to right: Mr Pawn, the leader; Mr Rook, counter-espionage; Ms Bishop, Research & Development; Ms Knight, head of field operations; and Miss King and Mr Queen, special ops.

I haven't quite decided what exactly the organization does, but it's probably important.

The Chilli Pepper Bros., cyborg twins and notorious space-criminals wanted in over 13 Space Sectors.

A somewhat more in-depth character concept I developed.  This is Archibald Slate, vampire hunter, expert of the occult, and investigator of matters both normal and paranormal.  Notorious for being rather eccentric, he is nonetheless well renown for his skills and effectiveness in solving cases.  His preferred weapons for fighting the undead are an ancient book of spells, a magical sword, a spray bottle full of holy water, and garlic skin lotion to deter vampire bites.  The lotion also has the added advantage of keeping his skin nice and moisturised.

Here are also some vampires.  the one on the left is very old (several hundred years at least), whilst the one on the right is younger and able to wield the power of pyrokinesis.

I was randomly messing around with some minifig combinations, and somehow came up with two of the most 1970s-looking characters possible.  Is it weird that I suddenly want to make a brickfilm with them?

Sorry about the really long post.  Hope you enjoy or something.

Those all look pretty good. Better than I could make.

I do not brickfilm anymore, but you can see my live action stuff here.

I dig the 1970's guys, I'd love to see something with them.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Awesome character designs. I love the cyberpunk/sci-fig minifigs.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Bump.
Anyone else noticed that the minifigures line of minifigures have a much higher quality feel to them. It seems most noticeable in their legs. They move back and forth more smoothly, and are very easy to animate with.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I haven't bought any as of yet, but am planning to. I really want the Highwayman and the Hot dog guy, because his exclusive accessories are really awesome!

I'd have to agree with that. They do move much more smoothly, and unlike minifigs from normal sets, they don't have to be limbered up when they're first built.
