Topic: Horses (Animating)

Recently I've had inspiration for a fantasy piece and one of the main things that has sprung to mind is how to animate a LEGO horse mainly in running and walking.

I've attempted to separate the limbs and puppet the legs in order to try and animate them though that is extremely complicated and is even more so in different angles.

The only way I can think of having a dynamic and fluid motion with the animation of a horse is by only using head shots/ anything above where the legs begin.

Has anyone else tried animating horses/ had any problems or techniques that they've used?

This is what I did for the animation challenge,

'Bound' just had them slide along the ground in wide shots, and then more dynamic closeup/medium shot's of the head and some of the body only
