Re: Summer Contest: Sight & Sound
Can we post our behind the scenes videos before the contest is over? Also is there anyway to get confirmation that our entry has been successfully submitted?

I am sorry for triple posting earlier... In order for my film to qualify in the contest, I have to press the "private message" link ONLY, right? Or do I have to post the link of the film also?
I am sorry..... I have another question, (I'm nervous), how old do you have to be to enter the contest?
Mod edit: when you want to add onto a post, please use the "edit" button in the lower right corner of that post.

When you press the "private message" link, it will open a new page with an empty box where you should put your link. Don't post the link anywhere else until the contest deadline passes.

Legally, only people thirteen years or older can use the forums without adult supervision. Anyone who can use the forums can enter the contest. If someone were younger than thirteen, they would need to have an adult submit their entry for them.
Please don't get mad at me for triple posting again,(I am VERY nervous), i have noticed some people on youtube or on bricks in motion have a user name such as, SmeagolStudios or Robotic Animations. Are they real Studios. Could I have a name on youtube including Animation or Studios even if they are not actual studios and will I get in trouble for have a name like that? Also, I am very close to turning thirteen, so do my parents still have to submit it for me? Does my account have to be on their email address (it is by the way)? Does the youtube account have to match the email account I used for Bricks in motion when I submit a film? Thanks for understanding....

Posting BTS stuff is fine, yeah!
Also is there anyway to get confirmation that our entry has been successfully submitted?
It basically just comes down to me checking the submission inbox and looking them over. I tend to start doing this much closer to the deadline, like the last couple weeks. I will try to look through whatever's there so far though this weekend, to alleviate the suspense.
You shouldn't be on this site if you are under 13 as per our terms of use. Parents or legal guardians over 13 can submit a film to the competition, however.
I'm confused with the whole judging system

Usernames don't matter provided they're not vulgar or something. Your other question is answered in this post.
Ok Thank you!

Do we have to have sound design through the WHOLE film?

Well because I was thinking of using the two elements of both sight AND sound- where they both have an equal balance of use in the film. Basically, I'm just making sure that when I'm using the element sight, I don't have to put the sound in... It would make more sense if you knew my plot...
I'm pumped!
This is going to be so exciting! I'm starting to animate AND do some sound design just to be more efficient with myself
Bit new to BiM, but this contest sounds fun. Looks like I'm a little late to the party, but I've got a script drafted so I think I might be able to make it. Might be just the thing to get me back to animating.
Quick question though: is the use of music from Youtube's Audio Library (which is provided free to content creators for use in their videos, and specifically listed as no attribution required) allowed for the purposes of this contest?
Thanks!
No. But you definitely hurt your chances in an audio-driven contest if the music is stock music we've all heard in half a dozen other brickfilms.
So, yeah, you are allowed to use royalty free music in theory, but it isn't advised!
