Re: Music That Inspires You

I alsways loved the soundtracks to your "Joe Brickmond".  And I love 80s music references, especially new wave!  You saw it in HOO 2.  There will be some in episode 6, and episode 9's plot is driven by Devo releasing a new album (Something for Everybody in June 2010).  It also will have a flashback with LOTS of 80s music in the background.

The episode I'm working on has a 90s song by one of the members of Kraftwerk, Karl Bartos.  And Brent will be singing it!  I strained my vocal cords to the limit to do this song in one take!

Anyway, I have a 480-song playlist and this one came up; I now am using it to animate to.  BE WARNED: NOT FOR UNINITIATED EARS!

Lately I've been listening to this album Earth - The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull, and it's so good.

Another album I just can't get enough of is Bohren & Der Club Of Gore - Sunset Mission you feel like your in some dark bar inside a film noir, sitting back sipping on a brandy as you watch the fem fatal silently play piano on the stage under a single spot light as smoke drifts over the bar.

Re: Music That Inspires You

I've recently been inspired by the How to Train Your Dragon soundtrack. It's quite epic, and helps me feel heroic while animating... kinda.

Every time I hear to Strauss waltzes, I get re-hooked.  Animating to it currently.

Lately it's been "Who Needs Love Like That" by Erasure (1985), which my teenage son also likes.

I've been hitting the good ole The White Stripes recently, and have been banging Tower Of Power in my system, too. Two songs I recommend from each would be:
White Stripes
1. The Denial Twist
2. Fell in Love With a Girl (This is a really cool stop-mo music video).
Tower of Power
1. What Is Hip
2. Diggin' On James Brown

You have excellent taste in music.

Re: Music That Inspires You

I picked up this CD late last year, and didn't really have a chance to listen to it until recently. And, boy did I wish I'd listened to it sooner! It's very inspiring to me, and, I've been listening to it non-stop while I've been scripting. It's a pretty fun and more "pop" sounding album than Phil Collins's usual fare.

If you like The Beatles, pop ballads, or Phil Collins, then I suggest you check it out. Especially the tracks Wear My Hat, Just Another Story, and It's In Your Eyes - specifically the latter if you, like me, really, really, enjoy The Beatles. Those three tracks show the diversity in subject of the songs pretty well.

If you don't like those three, you probably won't like the album. If you do, I'd suggest giving it a listen. Really great to listen to late at night, especially.

I've been playing an unhealthy amount of Skyrim lately, and the theme has become my go-to motivational music piece to listen to.

Drip fed Fred someone needs to make a Disney villain cartoon set to this song.

BUMP

I figured it'd be nice to revive this thread. This album by Eddie Vedder is a personal favorite of mine. Its lyrics are very deep and stirring, making it good to listen to while animating (or anything else).

This entire album is awesome, and I've probably listened to it 20 times since I got it for Christmas. mini/eek

That's one that gets me hyped too, as well as 90% of the stuff made by TheFatRat, which is mostly lyric-free, and as Dyland kind of mentioned by listening to music that is low on that, it stops you writing it down or breaking into song mini/tongue

Having said this, there are quite a few songs that really get me going:

Human - Rag 'n' Bone Man
The Nights - Avicii
Thank You - MKTO
Stole the Show - Kygo
Counting Stars - OneRepublic
Glory - John Legend
Found My Place - Oh, Hush!

I've also made a private playlist on Spotify which includes this (I've been told it is quite nerdy, but I'll leave that for you to decide mini/wink)

Rey's Theme
March of the Resistance
Imperial March
The Droid Invasion
Your Father Would Be Proud (from Star Wars Rogue One, in case you didn't realise)
Star Wars Cantina Remix
LOTR Dubstep Remix
Harry Potter Remix
Doctor Who Remix

Re: Music That Inspires You

My music of choice for writing papers at College is 'The Mountain Goats' and 'Wolfmother'.

On the other hand for working on stop motion film, I just listen to podcasts. On my lists is Dude Soup, Welcome to Nightvale, Alice isn't Dead, Lore, and The Writer podcast.

I'm also Bappy on Discord for those wondering.
