Topic: Noir Tests

This is the first time I've made a stop motion in a few years, probably around 5~. I was trying to get interesting lighting for a noir movie. I'm writing a screenplay for a noir/Hitchcockian film, so I thought I would do some tests.

Some shots are out of focus and the animation is sometimes a bit choppy, I guess I just need to get back into the groove of things.

Re: Noir Tests

The animation was quite fast but the slowed down version looked a bit choppy. What fps do you shoot at?

I do not brickfilm anymore, but you can see my live action stuff here.

I shot some stuff at 15fps and some of the walking stuff at 12 fps.

Re: Noir Tests

I like the high-contrast and the long shadows.  It feels like it's from the 20's.  Is that intended?

Yeah, I'm trying to get a film noir look. I've gotten some more shots but I'll post those later.

I'm sorta coming out of a dark age right now. Back when I was a more active viewer of brickfilms (around 5~ years ago) doing lighting beyond a saturated lamp was pretty rare in brickfilms. I thought this was really novel while I was doing it but now it seems on-set lighting is much more common in brickfilms mini/lol
