Re: Café Corner

I'd say yes, Undershadow. If you're serious about stop motion, DragonFrame has no equal. Ever since I made the move from Stop Motion Pro to DragonFrame, my animating quality of life has improved dramatically. While I have encountered some occasional glitches in DragonFrame (the only one that's happened more than once is where my camera will randomly disconnect, but I just refresh the connections and everything's back to normal - Probs just leaving my DLSR on too long) other programs like SMP and Helium Frog had a far larger propensity to wig out on me.

Re: Café Corner

Yeah, one of my main reasons for upgrading was the fact that my old program constantly crashed while animating, among other things.

To say I envy you is a massive understatement mini/bigsmile

I can't afford Dragonframe, but when I eventually can, I will get it, or whatever will be the equivalent by that point. At the moment, I have a fairly decent animation software. It has a lot of features that others, with similar prices don't. It doesn't crash, per se, but can take a while to respond. It's okay - you have to work with what you've got sometimes. A lot of people seem to really love Dragonframe and I hope it works well for you mini/wink

Re: Café Corner

Congrats Undershadow! Dragon frame is awesome!
Any one been able to see the results for the Lego Batman Rebrick contest? it won't load for me for some reason.

I saw the same thing, but they do have the top 3 on twitter.

Re: Café Corner

Awesome! Thanks. I got it loaded eventually. Really surprised which videos won. I was really expecting A Confounding Crane Steeling" to win but it didn't even make the top ten six. mini/confused

Re: Café Corner

Seeing as the Oscars have just been announced, any idea when we will have our Bricks in motion awards?

Re: Café Corner

I've been wondering the same thing.

Re: Café Corner

Does anyone here use the Hobby Creek swivel arm helping hands for the purpose of supporting minifigs in the air for masking and such?:

If so, what are you using as the base to hold the arms down? I bought one arm (without a base) since getting one with the actual base is like $30+ and I'm poor as all get out so...

But it's clear that I need to stick the arm in some sort of holder/base, but I can't seem to find any sort of specifications online detailing and sort of diy projects to create your own base. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I just save up for the actual base or are there other products/helping hands out there that can be just as good for masking as this one?

Re: Café Corner

Do you have a tripod handy? If so, I'd recommend wrapping it around the legs of a tripod. I have a big tripod, but the actual part that attached to the camera broke, so I replaced it with a really cheap small tripod I found at my local supermarket, that has 3 flexible legs that are pretty much identical to the helping hand, and wrapped it around the old tripod, and it works really well. I should think you could do the same thing with the helping hands!

Re: Café Corner

I know that Forlorn Creature uses that, though, I only saw him use it in a livestream, not in a vid on his channel. Maybe you could get in touch with him? And if you do, please bring your results back to us, that looks like a really interesting tool and quite helpful.

Re: Café Corner

Sonjira, I would try taking a block of wood and drilling a hole in it a hair larger than the thick part of the orange connector.  Then you could use some clay to hold the end in place, and a clamp to attach it to your table.

Unfortunately I cannot advise you on alternate products that might work; I usually just build some kind of Lego contraption whenever I need a support for masking.

Random idea that I had while watching this film.

Re: Café Corner

Anyone else watching the new season of Samurai Jack?

Re: Café Corner

oh, I knew it was coming, and forgot when!  I own all of it on DVD up until now.  I remember Genndy leaving it open when the series was originally cancelled because he hoped that CN would allow a movie to finish the series off.  Never happened, until now?

Late reply, but...this is pure genius!

Do you know who the singer in the recording is, by any chance? It's one of the best I've heard.

Thanks! I used this recording. I love this piece, and I thought it was a shame that it was hardly used in the film (and as you can see I rectified that xD ).
