Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

I can hop in and do a commercial if needed.

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

Mosh5256, that would be great, we'll definitely need more commercials!

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

I love that shot Arginnon! Really expresses the excitement of opening a present.

Since I'm trying to get Barry's Show out by the 14th, I've decided to pause work on my commercial. I still have two of three sets built, and have found a voice actor for Rick.

Here's a sneak peek of one of the sets

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

I've created a dropbox file request for any submissions. Everyone can upload files here. https://www.dropbox.com/request/yPJAEaCcNAjvMw2Kqj2d

For those doing story sequences, here is what I need you to upload:
* Your final video file. The beginning and ending should be without fade in/out, since the stories will be dissolved from the framing story as each narrator begins telling the story, and back in at the end. Titles aren't necessary, and neither are credits, since they will be included at the end of the entire show.
* Your list of credits as you wish them to appear in the end credits.
* A written paragraph of your narration of the story to be included in the script for the framing story. Voice over audio isn't needed just yet. Tell it as if you were telling the story without video. Most of this narration will not be used, but for editing sake it would be good to have so that there is a natural transition into and out of each story.
* A picture of your SigFig as you wish to be portrayed in the framing story. A few of you have already posted these pics in the production thread, and that's fine too.

For those doing commercials, here is what I need you to upload:
* Your final video file.
* Your list of credits as you wish them to appear in the end credits.

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

I'm starting to animate mine now, and I'll post a sigfig of me when I submit my film, assuming that's ok (I'm perfectly happy to submit earlier if necessary). I would also just like to say that if we do not have enough advertisements, let me know, and (while I don't want to overcommit to what I'm able to do) I'll try my best to do one as well. If we have enough, then that's fine, as things are quite busy for me atm but I don't want there to be a shortage for the final thing, so if you need more thistof then let me know! mini/smile

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

Thank you Dragon Brick, for your enthusiasm and dedication! There is a lot more time for commercials to happen, and while I do think we will end up needing more, they can come later so I'd rather that you (and the others doing stories) focus on the story first and don't burn yourself out. There will be time to make a commercial after if you do find the time and/or have an idea that you just can't resist.

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

Production update!
Arginnon has completed his story animation, and it's fantastic!
I have also received word from Pritchard Studios, that even with his life changing news, he is almost finished animating, with just a couple shots to go!
I've just completed my final shot of photography, which leaves post, which I hope to complete in the coming week.

I am also turning my focus to the framing story, writing and preparing set design ideas. I'm probably going to need to make a bricklink purchase in the very near future for pieces for the set, so now would be a good time to submit your sigfig pictures so I can see about ordering pieces I need. If you link me your actual pieces on bricklink that would be even better. I'll do my best, but of course it depends on availability, etc. so no guarantees, but I'll see what I can do.

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

I sent you three pictures of my sigfig, thistof, three versions depending on what hair pieces you have (I prefer the first one, but I know you have to work with what you have). As for the head, any other head with a moustache or a moustache and a goatee would do fine.
Here's the preferred sigfig: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4535/26441805269_8cb7d2bec6_z.jpg

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

Awesome, thanks for the pics, I'll see what I can come up with. I'm still waiting on sigfig pics from:

Dragon Brick
Supermelty
Willow Tree
Brickman
Shawarma

I know a couple of you aren't confirmed, but go ahead and submit your sigig pics just in case so I can start making a list of things I need. I'm erring on the side of safety here, better to have the pieces ready to go if your schedules do work out. Worst case scenario, I add a couple new pieces to my collection, which I don't have a problem with.

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

Well, I'm about to start animation on my story. If I use my time wisely, it should be finished before the deadline. I intend to post frames and bts pictures as I go, just to give you all an idea of my progress mini/wink.

The story is almost entirely narrated. In order for it to work, the story needs to cut into the fill-in shots periodically, mostly for comedic affect. Basically, while animating, I will leave a black screen where the fill-in shot needs to go, while keeping the audio on top of it so as not to ruin the flow. Once complete, I will send the video to whatever one of us is doing the in-between shots. He can then remove the blank shots and add in the appropriate animation to match the dialogue.

If this proves to be too much of a hassle, Thistof, please let me know so that I can film my story to match the requirements.

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

No, that sounds fine, I'm planning on doing the same. I'm working on my last shot right now, should be done in the next hour.

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

Thistof, just finished filming my commercial and it is 31 seconds.  Is that okay?  I know you wanted 15 or 30 seconds for each ad.

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

Yeah, that'll be fine, no worries. Can't wait to see it!

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

i posted it on the dropbox.  Let me know what you think of it.

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

That is amazing! Very funny.
Thank you joebert10!

Well I finished my story and rendered. I'll be focusing on the script now.
That's 2 of the stories submitted, and 2 commercials.
The current running time is 6 and a half minutes, which is over 20% of the goal running time!
This thing is finally coming together.

I am still waiting on minifig pictures and if possible bricklink links to the parts for figures from the following people:
Supermelty
Brickman
Shawarma

I'll like to start animating the framing story once the script is complete, and I'd like to make a bricklink order this weekend, so please turn in your figure designs asap. Thank you.

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

Voila!

https://bricksafe.com/files/DragonBrickStudios/bim/Test_0037.jpg

I think the parts that you are most likely to have in your collection are the hair and leg pieces, but the head of course is the same as Pritchards which I believe came from the Luke Skywalker mining from the 2010 land speeder. The brick link page is here. The body came from the first version of the night bus from HP, and the page for that is here.

However, aside from perhaps the hair piece, none of the other stuff is crucial, any d.blue or at the very least blue (which is my favourite colour, hence why it's what my sigfig wears mini/smile) legs which are preferably plain but can have things like pockets or zips or whatever on them are fine, as long as it looks like they are casual and not some sci-fi legs or something mini/lol

For my head, any similar ones like the head of Marty Mcfly (which I believe you mentioned you owned) should be fine, as long as it is just a generic flesh head. For the body, any casual blue body piece like I said for the legs is fine mini/smile

P.S. If you need me to give the links for the legs and hair on brick link, let me know mini/smile

Re: Brickfilm Christmas Special Production Thread

Finished quite a bit of animation today and imported all my footage into Sony Vegas to take a quick look at it all in one piece. One major scene is left, but that is mostly dialog, and easily animated. (I hope)

Editing shouldn't be too complex, and assuming nothing unexpected comes up, the thanksgiving deadline shouldn't be an issue at all.

It's a rush job, but I'm still pleasantly surprised at the result. Not my best work, but certainly not my worst either. I'm happy with it this far.
