Hey everyone! Here's another animation I've made while working at Bright Bricks. This one's a little zanier than the Kingdom one I made before, and I had a total blast making it. There are a lot of effects and techniques in this that I'd never tried before, and it's given me a lot more confidence in brickfilming, and taking risks with what I can do.

This was actually made last year, when we took the Great Brick Safari to BrickLive NEC in Birmingham, and it's shown as an 'introduction' to the story of the show at most venues the exhibition goes to, which is an amazing feeling.

Part 2's going public in a couple of weeks. I hope you enjoy this, and if you're in the UK, it'd be great to see you at the Great Brick Adventure (dates in the link above), where this and a bunch of my other work will be playing.

Thanks for watching/reading, and I look forward to your hearing your thoughts!

Re: Great Brick Safari! Part 1

Really impressive film here. Not many films use overlaid animations and when they do they're usually poor. This is different, and very well done. Keep up the good work, jampot.

TO BE CONTINUED!?
NOOOOOOO!!!

Haha, this was a lot of fun. The brickbuilt animals were great, I'd like to see more of that elephant!
The water on the lens effect was fun too.
The video has a bit more digital effects than I find ideal, however the effects were well done so it didn't distract too much.
I can't wait to see what happens next!

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! I know a lot of the VFX aren't perfect, and not to everyone's tastes, but I honestly love the tools that are available now to visually augment brickfilms. VFX are as much a narrative tool as choices of shots, and with this brickfilm in particular I was really glad of the chance to experiment with that. There's a lot in both parts of the Great Brick Safari that I'd never have been able to animate, or at least, not in such a way that would convey my creative choices as effectively. That said, there are still a lot of animation techniques I want to learn/toy with too...

Speaking of parts, Part 2 is out now! If you enjoyed this first part, please check out the conclusion and let me know what you think mini/smile
