Making Of

An old movie, now being reposted for directory purposes.  This film is a stand-alone trailer for a movie about Darth Bane, a Star Wars character who is never mentioned in the films but is an important historical figure in the Star Wars novels, comic books, and games. I experimented with a lot of new techniques, which certainly proved useful in later projects. I only filmed this trailer; I am not making the full film.

I really liked this film a lot.  Your blend of CGI and stop motion is pretty spectacular.  I do think that it could have benefited from some better voice acting, though.  Still, brilliant film.  You've done well.

Some really cool stuff here.

I'd definitely recommend checking out the version with no digital effects. I found it very helpful.

When I read the title at first I thought "Ohhhh. Not another Star Wars film" Then I watched it and I really loved

EDIT: Mass quantities of stupidity removed. Sorry, everyone.

Quite an enjoyable film. Loved it then, and loved it now. As Leo touched on, the version without the VFX is an enlightening experience.

You're assuming I watch crappy noob star wars films but that's not the case. StarWars is very over-rated. But I did like Starwars back in 1977 when I saw it. Your advice that I should read all the posts and educate myself about the crap would be funny if it wasn't so idiotic.

Almost everything Smeagal touches is gold. I didn't really like this one much. Turning others people's films into Lego is boring that's my opinion so what! I'm sure he would welcome some comments about his film more than your blatant a$$ kissing.

I watched this over and over again. I love this film, and it showed me what is even possible in brickfilms. You did a fantastic job on that, the animation mixed with CGI shots were pretty amazing.
Oh, and I agree with Leo- the raw footage version was very interesting to see.

Dunno, I definitely think Star Wars is overdone but it is fun to play around in the Star Wars universe, regardless over whether or not you like the prequels there is a lot of depth to the expanded universe stuff what with all the novels, comics, and video games.  On the whole it is something of a mixed bag but there are some cool stories out there, I think a lot of the Old Republic era stuff is more interesting than the prequel movies.  The story for this trailer is based mainly on the events of the book Bane: Path of Destruction, though I haven't read it and mostly used 'Wookieepedia' as a source.  (Incidentally, I've heard that the author of the book saw this trailer and enjoyed it.)  Setting a video in the universe of an already established franchise is definitely a boost in getting attention on the internet because it provides you an automatic fanbase.  Regardless, having made a few Star Wars brickfilms too many, I've definitely moved away from that for now.

Starwars is probably the best selling Lego theme ever so it's no wonder that it's popular with Brickfilmers as well.
Smeagol's creation as always is a cut above the rest. I echo the others comments in that I found "the making of" very interesting.

amazing effects! cool atmosphere .. I like your Making ofs most. get to know how you are doing your movies is very interesting. We all can learn much aboute FX and post process from you!
