Topic: Building a lego ww2 set But its not big enough. Tips?

Okay fellas, I wanna make bigger, better ww2 films. But every time I try to make the set i find myself thinking: 'It's just not big enough!'.

Usually i use a set with a baseplate area of 32studs by 48studs or 32studs by 64studs. Is this big enough?

Any tips?

Just somethin i forgot to include in my last post: Do you reckon i should pour actual real sand over my larger sets? it would save bricks and give the film extra realism.

If you want to add something to a post you've already made, just click on the "Edit" button to the bottom right of your post.

Now as to your question: I don't believe that a set needs to be big to be good. Even a tiny set built on a 16x16 baseplate can look good if you build and place the props well. Usually, attention to detail is what makes a set look nice.

That's what she said.

But in all seriousness, try using several smaller sets rather than one big set.

Doing that, you can make it look like a whole world, and in effect, bigger than the big set.

So here's the thing, I've A: Lost interest, and B: have no time to animate anymore. Expect little from me in the future. WIP projects have been pretty much abandoned and my LEGO collection is boxed up. No, you can't have it. mini/tongue But do not fear, I may return to it one day.

Sandpaper > real sand.

Thanks guys, I'll try that. I suppose the camera position plays a big part in the end result too. I'll try to do more indoor scenes, that way it does'nt matter what it looks like on the outside for that scene.  mini/smile
