Re: The D-SLR Discussion

Quick question. What do I use to connect the T3i to my laptop for frame capture with the Utility software that comes with it.

Re: The D-SLR Discussion

So, does the t3i film at 60 FPS and also we were talking about the T2I filming at 60 FPS but only having 3 FPS? mini/confused

Re: The D-SLR Discussion

Not much of a bump though.

I dont have a dslr (yet) but im guessing that a standart mini-hdmi cable (the kind used to connect most cameras, camcorders and external hard drives- hdds)

Then either the program will open automatically or you open it yourself. how to use the program is another matter that I also dont know.

anyway, your cam should have come with a cam to comp cable.

I believe those are sometimes called IEEE cables or Firewire cables

Re: The D-SLR Discussion

No not fire wire. This;   http://www.exprodirect.com/images/P/CAB698-1.jpg

Re: The D-SLR Discussion

OK thanks! That will work for me when I hopefully get the camera. I'm working on a paint job redoing most of my uncle's house trim where I can earn quite a bit of money to buy the T3i!

Re: The D-SLR Discussion

That looks like a MiniUSB to USB cable, not a MiniHDMI to USB adapter.

Re: The D-SLR Discussion

I'm thinking of purchasing a Canon PowerShot A495...  Will it work with iStopmotion?  Does it have a firewire?

Re: The D-SLR Discussion

What lens do you guys suggest as the best for brickfilming. I saw a 18-270(and 300)mm lens. It's great for normal everyday use to because it's got such a great widespread of lengths.

Re: The D-SLR Discussion

Hell no! A telezoom camera? No way. Max 50mm. Also, a macro cam would be nice too. Don't know much about the "mm"s of macro lenses.

Um, someone has filming and photography confused. Let me explain.

The t3i/t2i can both FILM (video) at (I think) a variety of fps- I believe they are 24, 25, 30 and 60 (which is slo mo?)

Then, they can both take CONSECUTIVE PHOTOS at up to 3 fps. This means, say you are at a sports event and want to capture an awesome action as a photo, then by pressing and holding the... picture button (? idk what its called) the camera takes a ton of quikc photos, like a machine gun. Click click click click click click click click.

So the max on these types of cams is I believe 8 fps for photos, and 60fps for filming. Understand?

I know that for the t2i that it can only film at 24, 25, and 30 fps at 1080p or 1080i (1920 x 1080). But if you lower the resolution down to 720p or 720i (1280 x 720) you can record at 60 fps.

Re: The D-SLR Discussion

Oh, sweet, that's still a pretty good resolution! My handycam records slomo but even though the resolution still reads 1920 1080 it's really unfocused, and you cant change that.

Re: The D-SLR Discussion

Thanks! Anyways, I was dissapointed that it only shot 720P 60P but I guess I'll only use 60P for Slow-Motion.

Re: The D-SLR Discussion

I can't find another place to post this so here it goes. I was thinking about creating a photography website where people can submit there photos from their photography stuff(i'll explain better later) and talk about stuff on a small forum. If I made anything like that, would any of you guys possibly check it out and join? I wanted to start it because BIM is a brickfilming website, not a photography website. So I can't really do it on BIM. I know there are a few people who are into photography like Onion(and me of course). What do you think? And again I'll explain everything better later if you guys have any interest.

Count me in! People will be able to get more feedback if it's a forum, rather than a social media site such as deviantART. It'll be like the photography thread (before it closed) only... a whole forum. You might have a thread for each category, as well as "Camera Discussion" and maybe "Travel Photos" etc.

Sounds cool to me!

Re: The D-SLR Discussion

Thanks for wanting to join! It would be nice if you told other members about it to possibly and I'll create a thread for it in the near future of how to join up!
