Re: BiM 2011: TOY RESULTS!

Good to see the results out, and congratulations to the winners! I wanted to enter this one but didn't get around to it. Maybe next time.

Great job Filmfire96, I really liked Marooned. I am glad you tackled a bit more ambitious film than usual. It is good to see.

As a last note I do have to comment that the overall average quality for this contest did seem pretty low. That is to bad given the really cool theme that it had.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY RESULTS!

Congrats to the winners. There were surprisingly good films in this contest, though I haven't seen too many.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY RESULTS!

Great job everyone!  Even though some of the more well known animators weren't able to make it this time, it gave the lesser known ones a chance to shine!  The top three were definitely some of my personal favorites, so I'm glad they placed well.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY RESULTS!

I enjoyed many of the entries in this contest, but it does look to me like announcing these contests a year in advance doesn't have much of a benefit to it. I think I would like to have a BiM 2012 contest next summer, but I'll probably hold off until 2012 to get it going.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY RESULTS!

That doesn't sound like a good idea at all. My entry took me three and a half months, and it was a rush at the end. I think the latest a contest this big should be announced should be April.

I'd love more small contests like BRAWL and THAC, though a big contest is great as well.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY RESULTS!

Congrats to all the winners! I watched all the entry's and personally think you deserved it! Though i am a bit sad i didn't do better, but what are ya gonna do? mini/smile

It would be interesting to see what effect a shorter window would have on the number of entrants and quality of submission. On the one hand I see the rationale of allowing more time to complete the project in hopes of eliciting well thought out/well executed entries. But on the other hand I think what often happens is when the deadline is originally announced, people think they have all the time in the world - and wind up delaying their project - and before you know it - the deadline arrives. It's human nature I think - nothing gets done until the pressure is on.

It would be interesting to go back to the original TOY thread to see how many people (in the first couple of days after the contest was announced) said they would make an entry - but ultimately never did.  A shorter window may be the way to go.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY RESULTS!

I'm excited to find out what the theme is for next year.

I may take a break from my Bat-Movie and make a quick entry if I think up a groovy idea.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY RESULTS!

I won't be able to make ANY Brickfilms.
1. School's starting.
2. I have brothers of DESTRUCTION.
3. I thought a number 3 would make it sound complete.

"Light travels faster then sound, that's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak."
"Listen! Do you smell something?"
"Fear of Chuck Norris is called logic."
"I heard you like Brickfilmin', so I put a brickfilmer on your brickfilmer so you can brickfilm while you brickfilm!"

Re: BiM 2011: TOY RESULTS!

Congrats to all the winners, especially FilmFire and TimothyR.  You both made very ambitious entries and yet still managed to finish them in time for the deadline.  Good job! mini/smile

Also, congratulations Smeagol for hosting such a successful and fun competition.  We hope that you will continue to have these competitions annually, as they definitely foster great films.  We hope that next years' competition will have even more participants.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY RESULTS!

Well done everyone (hey, what did I tell you, Filmfire?). I'm a bit disappointed that Doing It Wright wasn't a winner, but I can't complain about the top three, they're all worthy winners.

I don't make Brickfilms. I trade virtual hats.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY RESULTS!

In my opinion, the top 3 should've been:

1. Marooned
2. Los Angelas River Murder
3. Possessed

Re: BiM 2011: TOY RESULTS!

Yeah, I'd say Marooned was definitely the best entry into ToY. Like Smeagol said, it's the best pirate brickfilm yet. Filmfire deserved to win this one. mini/smile

That's the plan. Except it won't actually be called Pirates Rule 2! Because I hate movie sequels which just ad a two to their original title.

I need some thing better

How about keeping the "Pirates" part of the title, but changing "Rule!" to another word followed by a exclamation point?

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.
