Topic: Harry Potter spell effects in sony vegas

I want to learn how to make some harry potter(and other) magic effects.
I saw ForrestFire101´s and Geertos13´s harry potter videos and the FX are really cool.

So I wondered how I could do that? Can I do it in Sony Vegas, or Gimp?

I will buy Sony Vegas really soon, and I have Gimp.

I believe Forrestfire did it in After Effects. Also, if you put hard work into it Gimp might work. Not sure about Vegas though.

I'm pretty sure he used After Effects.

Buy any version of Sony Vegas, then go to www.detonationfilms.com for some effects that you can use for free!

I had a link to a video that shows you how to make the FX, but I can't find it..... sorry.

Filmriot has a couple episodes on Harry Potter effects.
He uses After Effects, but you can probably transfer the information to Vegas.
