Topic: I need Some Sticky Clay

I am currently using play-dough, but it seems to be really wet and not sticky enough, so I am having to use massive amounts.

Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zvyev3h … ideo_title You can see it on his head, and his feet when he comes up.

I need something that I can just put a tiny, unnoticeable bit down that will support the minifigure.
Suggestions? mini/eek

Re: I need Some Sticky Clay

Try using sticky-tac. It's used by a wide audience and works well for me. It doesn't leave residue and never seems to loose it's adhesive factor, but don't get it dirty.

Re: I need Some Sticky Clay

Sculpy also seems to work.

Gone shopping for a new hard drive fishin'.

Re: I need Some Sticky Clay

Modeling clay works, too, since it NEVER dries up.
Also,it has great quality, and you can make models with it,and they won't dry up,unlike play-dough,which dries up in 5 minutes.
It's also used by many audiences in clay animations.

CDP, I assume you mean something like Play-Dough, which is what our friend here is trying to get away from using.

Blu-Tack is a brickfilmer's bet friend. Keep a blob of it on your animation table and you'll never know how you lived without it.

Edmeier's main problem is that Play-Doh dries, so it loses it's moisture and therefore isn't sticky. The modeling clay CPD is talking about doesn't dry up, so it would stick better. I have that kind of clay, and it's very sticky. It actually works better than my poster putty, which dries out. I think I'm going to use the clay instead of the putty.

Anything that doesn't dry out would work. Drying out means losing miosture, and losing moisture means it doesn't stick that well.

Silly-Putty or sticky-tac would be fine. The clay I used to use was all greasy and weird. mini/bigsmile

No, what CDP is referring to is like plasticine, an oil-based modeling clay or something like that. THat's what I use, it works lickety-split, and it comes in a bunch of colors so that it's easier to hide mini/smile

Re: I need Some Sticky Clay

I use orange tack putty, which I bought at my local art supply store.

The one down side to this is that it has started to smell quite vile after several months of sitting in an air-tight jar, covered in crud.

Re: I need Some Sticky Clay

I heard blu-tac is good.
I am using something called Pritt Multi Tac, but I'm not sure if it is sold outside Scandinavia.
I have used Faber-Castell sticky tac before, and I think that it's quite good.

I use white "sticky-tack". It doesn't matter about the color. Blue and white both work awesome.
