I'm currently looking about for a new laptop, as my last one kaputt'd last month. I've got the advantage of the Dollars to Euro conversion without Tax (for various reasons). So excluding shipping + VAT etc. what laptops would you advise under $380? Also, will there be any problems with the disk drive because I'd be using european disks? Or any other regional problems? Many thanks!
Okay, getting it from america isn't an option anymore, but I'm still open to ideas. Anybody got any?
What do you want your main purpose of your laptop to be? Gaming? Filming? etc.
Mainly animation purposes, although being able to run post-production items would be a plus.
Under $380?
There won't be anything too powerful in that range.
This is a tad on the expensive side, but it looks like it could do just about anything.

If your using any Adobe tools, you might want an i5 or i7 with 4-8 gigs of ram. You'll want all the ram possible. It will be pretty expensive to get lots of ram in a laptop, but if you use a tower(desktop) computer, you could put more in it probably.
I agree with ZP, a laptop under 380$ won't be the best. I got my laptop for 550$, it has 4GB of RAM.
I think something 500$ is best and pretty cheap for this.
Today I got one great computer with Windows 7. Acer Aspire 5750G. It's pretty cheap actually. 600 euros and it is pretty fast. I love the Windows 7 design on it. Then I'll buy Adobe Premiere Elements 10 and after that I can really make good movies. I am making that Jesse the Ninja, but I need special effects and program with it, so I have AE2 and I will buy Premiere Elements 10 so then, kaboom! I'm ninja yeah.
I'm just happy, that's all.
