I hadn't seen this until I watched it while voting on the BiM awards. Fantastic, creative film. Very enjoyable.

Re: Gaston's Odyssey

This is quite a strange and funny film. I can't really say I like it on merit alone, but it certainly is entertaining. My favorite part has to be the centaur phone booth. That is amazingly funny.

Re: Gaston's Odyssey

I must say, I was very surprised that I hadn't seen this film sooner, I really enjoyed it. The concept was incredibly original, and the writing was quite funny. I loved the centaur phone booth, and the way Gaston slept on the boat. Excellent work, and I commend you for being so creative with the LEGO medium.

Re: Gaston's Odyssey

Hey! Thanks for all your comments! Especially those who managed to convince people to lose 25 minutes watching our brickfilm... (In particular BertL, Hazzat, Si665, Zwan, Sméagol, etc.)

And thank you also to the judges of the Bim Awards who voted for Gaston's Odyssey as a nominee; (Being nominated must also have decided people to watch our film)

We are aware our film is a bit too long and that the beginning might be a bit too slow (and not technically perfect), nevertheless, most of the
people who have been patient enough to watch it entirely seem to have appreciated it. That should mean you don't have to be a professionnal to make a good brickfilm!

Concerning the Bim Awards, we didn't win, and didn't expect to at all, because the other nominees were great. (and so professionnal...)
So remaining just a simple nominee is already such a great honor for us. mini/smile

Thanks again to everybody!

Re: Gaston's Odyssey

You truly did a great job guys! The length alone is quite a feat, but there are also many memorable moments in it, the boat with the instruments was great, reminded me of actual cartoons. Congratulations with the nomination for Best Film, there were hundreds of films released in 2008, and this was one of four that was decided as a nominee for Best Film.

Although it may not be technically perfect, I find that the style you shot the film in gives it a very nostalgic feel. The camera quality and lighting isn't perfect, but it reminds me of the old days of brickfilming. The sets were great, the use of Lego mixed with other mediums was done quite well, the island being a great representation of that. The robots were well animated, the legs on them made me laugh, along with the animation of the centaurs, the 4 legged approach was done well.

As for the story, it could've been shorter, but this was just fine honestly. The intro is great, very proffesional, with a bit of insight to the film, "Where are my legs?" . And the film was entertaining throughout, so the length didn't bother me, it enhanced it! More of Gaston to watch!

You did a fantastic job on this, congratulations with the nomination, and I really look forward to future films you have in store. mini/smile

Re: Gaston's Odyssey

I have just watched the movie in its original French version and loved it! Especially the sort-of parody of Fantomas is awesome, me having just watched the entire Fantomas trilogy (naturellement en francais) last week-end I liked this very much! Great work on the film, animation is excellent too.

"Je vais devenir le maitre du monde! Hahahaha..." - now that line is a true classic!

Cheers guys!

Re: Gaston's Odyssey

Thanks for your nice comment, pacific! We are glad you also like Fantomas...

We take advantage of this bump to say that we've put a higher resolution version of Gaston's Odyssey on youtube. We didn't manage to change the link in the Directory, so we just updated the first post.

Cheers!
