Revenge of the Sith
Tron: Legacy
Gravity
The Lego Movie

Those are probably my all time favs!

Re: Favorite Movie Thread

Now that this thread has calmed down a little bit, here are the movies I adore, in no particular order, because I won't compare apples and oranges:

ParaNorman
The Pirates in an Adventure with Scientists
Anything Wallace and Gromit
The LEGO Movie
Treasure Planet
Atlantis The Lost Empire
The Original Star Wars Trilogy
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Back to the Future
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Monty Python and the Holy Grail

There are probably some other I'm just not thinking of right now, If I come up with any I'll add them later, as if anyone cares.

Re: Favorite Movie Thread

It changes everyday, but here goes. This isn't really in any order.

Brazil
This film is incredible in every way and anyone who says otherwise is stupid. This is the only thing I will hear no criticism towards...although the scene in the truck drags on a bit...and the explosion at the start looks kinda awful...

Amadeus
Its odd that the best biopic ever made is mostly fictional. Its also a rare example of a film that won a crapload of Oscars and actually deserved each and every one of them.

Ed Wood
Like Lady Gaga, Tim Burton's best work is his most 'normal'. Anyone who wants to make anything creative in their life should watch this.

Downfall
The only film thats ever done Hitler right. Fascinating.

Boogie Nights
This should be tasteless and unfunny - but its unbelievable. I've never seen a film thats toed the line so well between comedy and drama.

This Is Spinal Tap
The most quotable comedy ever. The only downside is that it takes a few re-watches before you begin to appreciate it.

Where The Wild Things Are
An underrated masterpiece that's slowly beginning to get attention.

Hot Fuzz
The perfect comedy. Ridiculous premise. Ridiculous plot. Ridiculous humour. I don't think a second goes by without a joke.

Citizen Kane
I'm sorry. I know its a cliche, but this film is so damn good that even I can't find fault with it.

Fight Club
This is one of the most mis-interpreted films ever. Everyone says how 'manly' this film is, when in reality David Fincher is deconstructing the very nature of masculinity. Also, aside from 300, its probably the most unintentionally homoerotic film ever made.

Eyes Wide Shut/A Clockwork Orange/Barry Lyndon/Dr Strangelove
I always lump my favourite Kubrick films together. It would be unfair to list them all seperately, and I couldn't possibly choose just one. Eyes Wide Shut is one of those films everyone hates the first time they see it, but eveyone loves after about the third watch. A Clockwork Orange is genuis in how it makes you feel sympathy for such a fascinatingly awful character. Barry Lyndon is basically one massive, epic character arc. And Dr Strangelove is just so hilariously tragic.

Batman: The Movie
What? What do you mean this wasn't supposed to be a comedy? Its one of the funniest movies ever! They must have been in on the joke! This stuff is genius! Whenever I'm feeling depressed, this is bound to put a smile on my aged, ugly, miserable face.

Re: Favorite Movie Thread

Max Butcher, LOVED Ed Wood.  Need this one on DVD; just have the VHS.  And I recently watched Batman: The Movie (the '60s one you're referring to) on SvenGhoulie (sp?), a Vemperella-type show.

Breakfast Club is one of my wife's favorites.

Re: Favorite Movie Thread

I would normally avoid posting on a thread like this because I don't believe anymore in "favourite movies". It doesn't make any sense after watching a certain amount of movies. But after watching everyone else's list I saw that very few people cited "foreign" (I hate using that word talking about cinema) movies.
So, here are a few, no particular order:

It's such a beautiful day
8 1/2
La Strada
La Dolce Vita
Amarcord
Hiroshima Mon Amour
Derniere Anné a Marienbad
Singing in the Rain
Aguirre, Der Zorn Gottes
Encounters At the End of the World
Les 400 Coups
Jim et Jules
Taxi Driver
La Classe Operaia Va in Paradiso
Indagine su un Cittadino al di Sopra di Ogni Sospetto
Roma, Città Aperta
The Act of Killing
The General
Sherlock Jr.
Apocalypse Now
Brazil
Once Upon a Time in the West
Tonari no Totoro
Mononoke Hime
Lawrence of Arabia
Mulholland Drive
I Soliti Ignoti
2001: A Space Odyssey
Travolti da un insolito destino [...] - Film d'Amore e d'Anarchia [...] - Mimi Metallurgico Ferito nell'onore - Pasqualino Settebellezze
(Because, like Max, I can't list these four films separately)

and many more.

I've actually seen almost all of these. In fact, all the ones that are crossed out are ones I haven't yet watched.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: Favorite Movie Thread

I still haven't seen Coraline, and every day I think "I really need to watch Coraline".
