Topic: For "Interview" Moviegoers & other Movie loving Friends

Hi.

I know that many here in the BiM community love to go the movies.  As you probably know, the communist cyber-terrorist group, "Guardians of Peace", is threatening to carry out bombings of theaters that will be showing, "The Interview".  I'm not interested in the movie myself.  You may or may not, but even if going to watch something else at a theater that will be showing the picture, especially in or near New York, please be wary of and report any suspicious activity.  Groups similar to this one tend to be comprised of cowards who make toothless threats of violence and resort to blackmail instead, but you can't be too careful.  Unlike al Qaeda, Guardians of Peace made their potential attack known ahead of time.  I love all of you here in this community, and don't want anything to happen to anyone, especially at this joyous time of year.  Let's all do our part to protect ourselves and each other.

Wow. I doubt NK will have the guts to do that, but nonetheless, that's still very crazy! I remember reading that north Korea hacked Sony Pictures a month ago

If someone makes a movie about killing your leader, they won't be laughing. Still, crazy threats.

Are the threats empty? Probably. If the hacks were done by the North Korean government, there won't be any attacks; I don't think their ready to get attacked by NATO yet. If it's just some terrorist group carrying out the hacks then who knows. I never go to the movies on Christmas anyway, and I live in a small town, so I'm not worried in the least. Besides, it's most likely just an attempt to scare people out of not seeing the movie.

Re: For "Interview" Moviegoers & other Movie loving Friends

The Interview looks hilarious, but I think I'm gonna set my sights on another movie for Christmas Day. Maybe Unbroken or Tim Burton's Big Eyes. Plus, I highly doubt these "Guardians of Peace" can bomb every theater that's showing the movie, even if it is only a select few. They're not intelligent enough to carry out attacks as intricate as that.

Hey, NK! If you're listening, and you've somehow hacked onto this site too, then maybe you should stop being a bunch of meanie-heads! Or, I'm gonna go tell my mommy!

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: For "Interview" Moviegoers & other Movie loving Friends

"The Interview" just got pulled from most of the big name theater chains.

Regal and Cineplex are still committed to having the film shown, but at a later date and/or when the people responsible are caught.

I think that, after all that's happened, the best/coolest thing they could do would be to push a big digital/VOD release for this film. Like Yeah terrorists, you got us outta theaters, but ya can't keep us outta the good capitalist hands. With how much that's been spent/lost because of the film and its associated hacks, it would be pretty foolish and weird to not release the film in any form. If they REALLY wanted to rock the boat, they'd release it for free, but that's just me thinking wishfully because I gave like all the money in my wallet to a hobo on Saturday cause he looked ready to mug me and I don't feel like spending money on stuff now.

Re: For "Interview" Moviegoers & other Movie loving Friends

They've actually pulled it off the theatres, and the biggest people in the biz voted and accepted the fact it won't be showing in any theaters which is a real damn shame. I was really looking forward to it as well. As for the bombing in the theaters thats a load of rubbish. Korea would be annihilated if they dared to attack.

Am I the only one here that thinks it's just a big conspiracy to force Sony to release its rights to Spider-man back to Marvel and to spare us from another Ho hum Franco/Rogen flick?

Re: For "Interview" Moviegoers & other Movie loving Friends

Apparently the irony of a group calling themselves "Guardians of Peace" threatening to violently kill a bunch of people over a movie is lost on the North Koreans.

Still, I find these threats a bit far-fetched.  Surely bombing a theatre in such a manner would be considered an act of war, and I can't see even North Korea being stupid enough to pick a fight like that with the USA.  (Though, on second thoughts, I wouldn't actually put it past them...)  And openly announcing an attack ahead of time doesn't make any sense.

Can't say the movie itself looks like something I'd want to go watch, though.

Re: For "Interview" Moviegoers & other Movie loving Friends

North Korea is basically Nazi Germany with self-esteem issues. They see any criticism of their country as a declaration of war. When the UN tried to investigate NK's constant, endless series of human-rights abuses, they threatened to declare war. When the UN considered sanctioning them, they threatened to declare war.

I find this whole ordeal hilarious considering that The Interview honestly doesn't look too good. It looks like the sort of film I would watch after a really busy day. If NK just rolled their eyes and let the film get released - I'm sure everyone would've just forgotten about it after a few years. Now, the film will be eternally remembered as the movie that almost started a war, destined to top 'WatchMojo's Top 10 Most Controversial Films' list. Essays will be written, articles printed, blogs posted, documentaries shot. There's probaly going to be a film made about this film. The digital prints of the movie itself will become a holy grail amongst film buffs despite it's actual quality. History has been made.

Nice one, North Korea. *slow clap*

I don't know about that Max Butcher lol maybe you're giving too much praise too a movie you're not so fond of yourself rather early on wouldn't you say? mini/lol mini/tongue
Speaking of which, Seth Rogan and James Franco's movies never been top notch however its the comedy that really sells the movie, and if it has these two characters you can deffs expect a lot of it.
However of course that comes to the next point, some people don't get the puns that these guys bring out and say in general, these are more laugh at my own type of jokes that no one else gets but only you. For me, I honestly love it as I relate to the jokes and puns, around me and my buddies. (Similiar films these two have starred in; this is the end, Pineapple express, neighbors etc). Films arn't the greatest, however they make it very enjoyable with the inside jokes and the comedy. (Seth Rogan is a comic genius)
One thing I can tell you is that despite the fact it will be canceled throughout theaters. I hear rumors that they will still be releasing this film but straight to DVD instead of on the big screen, what is NK going to do then? Threaten to kill people who watch it or buy the DVD? Honestly, it's just empty threats.
Them to dare to attack US soil and already making threats? Lol they need to watch their back if anything.

Re: For "Interview" Moviegoers & other Movie loving Friends

RockyDude, I heard about the cancellation myself later that day.  RedBrick1, you are right: the terrorists have won.  Sonjira, I agree with you on what Sony should do!  Sadly for the terrorists, no movie gets suppressed forever, even if there are threats of blackmail and violence against the children of Sony's employees.  Divine, I don't think that NK is carrying it out alone.  I hink they hired professional hackers/cyberterrorists to do their dirty work.  There's no actual evidence connecting the attacks to North Korea at this time.  If they are involved, they are keeping hteir noses clean to avoid any conflict in the int'l community.  Mr. Vertigo, I myself saw the irony of the name "Guardians of Peace".  Progressives/statists tend to use ironic names and slogans for everything (Google's motto: Don't Be Evil is one of many examples that come to mind.)  Max Butcher, I agree with you that the movie doesn't look that good.  Maybe because it's not my kind of humor.  I just don't get how a lot of these movies are things large numbers of people want to see.  You are also spot-on with the fact that whoever is behind these threats should have just let it go.  Boycotts and other calls to ban things only draw more interest to the boycotted subject, and I think in the end, when this does get released somewhere down the road, and I'm confident that it will, it will be seen by more people than would have ever cared to watch in the first place.

Texas Theater to Show 'Team America' in Place of 'The Interview.'

It would be pretty interesting if a bunch of theaters across the country did this.
Or, replace "The Interview" with another film, such as "Hot Shots" or something.

Re: For "Interview" Moviegoers & other Movie loving Friends

That wouldn't matter at all Dewfilms.. the point is people wanted the interview, not a replacement another film replacing it is just like a new film coming to theater soon. Some people actually were excited to see the Korean President get killed in the film as a joke. mini/tongue

Re: For "Interview" Moviegoers & other Movie loving Friends

Okay.  Now, I think the only thing that people care about, including the cyber-terrorists, is the scene depicting the North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un's death.  The viewers want to see it happen, the cyber-terrorists want to see it suppressed.

Well, the scene that everyone wants to see or censor has been posted on the internet.  BE WARNED: PRETTY GRAPHIC, at a high PG-13 level borderline R.  Use your best judgement before viewing.

Mod edit: please don't link to liveleak; we don't want our younger members stumbling onto snuff films.

Share the link with the world and stick it to the cyber-terrorists.

TO THE MOD: Forgive me.  I don't frequent liveleak and so I was totally ignorant that such material was there.
