Hi Guys;
Forgetting about the price and license, what are advantages and disadvantages of both programs (Adobe Premiere Pro & Sony Vegas) and why most of animators there use Sony Vegas? Is it just for money and license or what?
I use Vegas because it's a much more affordable option while still maintaining a professional form factor and broad functionality. It's not likely I'll ever use after affects, at least not for a long time, just because of my style, so premier's compatibility doesn't matter for me.
I have not worked with Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas, but this thread may be helpful.
Sony: ease of use, quick learning curve.
Adobe: power & professionalism.
Both are excellent programs. Sony offers fully-functional free trials of its audio/video programs, and I think Adobe does too. try them both and see what you like.
I bought Vegas a long time ago but didn't like it's user interface, so I went with Serif MoviePlus instead. Just personal preference, really.
I'm currently on Adobe Suite CC, which is the subscription that gives you the entire Adobe package. It's expensive (with an educational discount it costs me £180 a year) but well worth it if you're serious about filmmaking. Getting the suite lets you edit a shot in Premiere whilst, say, adding effects or grading it in After Effects, at the same time. Same goes with Audition, the sound editing software; you can have both it and Premiere open at the same time and be working with the same audio file.
I personally use Sony Movie Studio 12 Platinum (the lower end Sony Vegas) for all of my editing. I like it because it's easy, powerful, and it didn't cost much.
I've never used Premiere Pro, but that's because I don't have the Adobe Suite.
Basically, they're just editing programs, and they have the same basic features. Of course, Premiere has integration with other Adobe software, so if you use AE or Photoshop a lot with your video editing, it's good to use Premiere.
I myself (Is that phrase correct?) use Premiere CC cause it's fast and have a better UI and also, there are more tutorials on the net for Premiere. I think Premiere is more professional and as rioforce said, it has integration with other Adobe Creative Cloud softwares such as Photoshop, Media Encoder and After Effects. But I'll try Vegas too as M Tourette said.
We use Adobe Premiere Elements (The downgraded version of Adobe Premier Pro) and it works great for us!
