Topic: Any easy way to incorporate a bottom less pit into a movie?

I am working on a film and I am uncertain on how to make one of the sets look realistic, it features a bottomless pit like those seen in "Star Wars", is there any way to do this using readily available items? any tips are appreciated mini/wink

Its all about lighting. If you light it right you could just build a small pit and then put a black background at the bottom (light it so it slowly fades to black).

This world is a dark place. One day I will see my Savior face to face.

Build your set on top of columns of bricks with plates on top for the floor instead of using a baseplate (see this, this, and this).

Then light the top set accordingly so the light doesn't shine down into the hole. Also, using black paper or fabric underneath will help sell the effect of endlessness if the light doesn't reflect off it.

Depending on the way you have already built the set, you could prop some black card where you would normally put your backdrop, and then get the set with the top of the pit and place it with the back facing upwards.
