Haha. Sure.

If you don't believe me, here's a photo of me holding my Gh4.

That picture is clearly shopped!

If you look closely, guys, you can tell it's Photoshopped.

Re: Photography

On a sidenote, I took the original picture on my gh4 and I'm uncertain why ownership of a gh4 is a claim one would be skeptical of on a filmmaking website.

Now, let's get back to talking about how great Jayem's images look and bully him into making a film that looks like those images.

Re: Photography

Jayem and FlyingMinifig very impressive photos great work!

Here is a frame from a challenge I'm working on that I accepted from Jampot, making a minifig fly. Still in masking stages.

Feedback is greatly and warmly appreciated!

Yeah, saying you had a G4 would be a more dubious claim. And sure, I'll work on some animation with the G3.

Fun fact- I edit my images in the Google+ Photos Android app, so Google+ might not be entirely useless after all.

How is it a spoiler? (unless most movie posters are considered spoilers, because this reveals no more than a normal movie poster would).

Spoiler (click to read)

Well, It is entitled "Grave Robber", and has a picture of a grave robber holding Darth Vaders Helmet. It's not a major spoiler, but It's still more then I would personally like to know about the film before it comes out.

Also, I forgot to say, Its a really good picture. The lighting is great, and this is a huge step up from your normal lighting set up. Its really cool.

Great work!

Nice photo! Great bokeh. This doesn't happen to have been taken with a Helios prime lens, does it? mini/wink

Re: Photography

Yep, Helios 44-2 plus a filter called a cinemorph, it's supposed to emulate anamorphic bokeh. Not a fan of pairing it with this lens, though, as it doesn't create a perfect oval shape, just oddly squashed bokeh.

Also the filter is jammed to the step-up ring and I can't get it off. Going to the camera store tomorrow to see if filter wrenches will solve the problem.

I love the texture of the Helios image, will be using it heavily on the documentary.

I really like it too. You know, the only reason I bought one is because you talked me into it on the DSLR Discussion thread. It's really great, it's image quality reminds me of a really well made old movie. I use it for my brickfilming mostly, and haven't had a chance to use it in real photography yet.

Re: Photography

Ha, glad I won over a convert. Interestingly, I tested it opposite the AIS Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens, and it was significantly sharper wide open. Much more character/texture to it obviously, which is either a good or bad thing depending on the project.

I also have the Mir-1B, it's a 37mm f/2.8 lens. Also old and Russian, it has a very similar character to the Helios so they go together nicely.

Here are a couple of interesting articles about lenses like this: one focused on lenses suitable for an aps-c crop sensor and another for wider lenses on smaller-sensor cameras. I haven't sprung for a Jupiter-9 as of yet, partly because I can achieve different focal lengths on my gh4 with the Helios by using it with and without a speed booster.

I'm....................................... A brickfilming noob.

Re: Photography

Those are really good photos!

Maybe you will get out of that jungle someday Umbra-Manis. mini/smile

Re: Photography

Those are beautiful, Jayem.  The only thing a bit off is that the depth of focus in the first picture is a bit shallow, in my opinion.  Aside from that, wonderful.  Love the clouds.

Also, concrete jungles can look just as great as the actual countryside if photographed right, Umbra-Manis. mini/wink

Side note: Does anyone know how one would go about creating hexagonal bokeh?  So far all of my results have yielded round bokeh, but I quite like the look of hexagonal bokeh.  Any way I could accomplish this?
