Re: LEGO(re) THE MOVIE

Wow, that was awesome.
Your animation could be improved, but other than that, story and cinematography is quite nice. Masking was also pretty good in some parts. I liked this gorefest. wink
Good job.

That... was... AWESOME! NICE JOB!

Re: LEGO(re) THE MOVIE

That was...

...interesting. Considering that LEGO gore does absolutely nothing for me, the film was somewhat disappointing given the two glowing reviews above.

You had some nice fluid simulations at the beginning, but after that the camera bumps in the animation made the film hard to watch. Also, the film seemed to center on a disturbing amount of violence. The subject matter is obviously your choice, however. Sound and music were pretty average. Sometimes we could see your room in the background, which definitely killed any illusion or suspense.

The best lego gore ever. How did you animate the blood?

Re: LEGO(re) THE MOVIE

The good:

I LOVE dysturbia/ apocalyptic films.  The story really appeals to me.  You had some great cinematography, i really liked that.  Your fight scene was well organised.  The score/sound design was very good.

The Bad:
The animation left a lot to be desired, especially with the high-expectations opening intro.  The gore was excessively violent, and i don't think it was really neccesary.I found the effect of spewing blood, etc very good, but it was not needed in the film

Re: LEGO(re) THE MOVIE

I just realized that this film was posted on BF a while ago. I'll post my review from there...

"Set bumps, light flicker, weak story, ton of gore....

....but cool effects.

Sadly, we're seeing more and more films like this. Effects are cool, but they don't make a film."

Woah. This is the Lego Chainsaw Massacures Brother. Just like it, the animation didn't get on my nerves, but I feel that the lighting, and sets need a tremendous amount of improvement. I loved this film though. It has a certain feel I can't quite explain, I really enjoyed the opening and ending sequences. I think the gore was tooken to an extreme though.

Re: LEGO(re) THE MOVIE

Interesting. I thought the cinematography was great in terms of the camera angles, though the lighting could certainly be improved. You animation would have been really nice if it weren't so choppy. I was really impressed by the cool mood you were creating at the beginning of the film, but then it just descended into mindless gore and violence that was so over the top it was almost funny. It looks like you've got your focus on the wrong thing. Nonetheless, parts of this were great.

Re: LEGO(re) THE MOVIE

I don't know if I reviewed this on BF, but I'll write one here anyway.

I echo a lot of the comments already mentioned. Excellent digital gore effects, and the cinematography had moments of brilliance. The bit where the doctor-killer-thing leaps backwards and onto his own head was a great touch. While the plot had no real depth, the fight was pretty cool, but could have been helped by less-choppy animation.

Overall, not bad. It's pretty much mindless violence, but with touches of excellence.

Re: LEGO(re) THE MOVIE

I'm not normally a fan of gore, but this was pulled off quite well, I thought. The sound design was great, and I think that while a lot of your ideas in terms of animation and cinematography were interesting, they weren't always pulled off so well. Still, it was pretty fun to watch. The only thing I would definitely change would be the high angles in some shots. When you're trying to establish tension in the abandoned city, what you shouldn't do is have a wide shot that shows the entire surroundings.

Re: LEGO(re) THE MOVIE

That was pretty sick, how did you animate the blood?
I'm not really into films like Hostel, Saw, Doomsday and all that gore but this was done well. Looking past the mindless violence, the cinematography was exceptional, except for the lighting which was inconsistent. The sound design was great and the scene with the mad doctor guy was wicked and the choppy animation didn't seem to bother me at all.

Re: LEGO(re) THE MOVIE

Excellent, 90% perfect-Loved the opening titles just brilliant, reminded me of the 'blood flood' in 'The Shining'

I just wish you had used backdrops so we couldn't see your studio in the background, as this kind of killed the effect, and you have two motorbikes one with complete handlebars and one with only half, I wish you had used the complete bike throughout the film it would have made it so much better. But a great fluid film with the best blood effects I have seen. Puts my feeble efforts in my film coming soon to shame.

Re: LEGO(re) THE MOVIE

Lots of gore! I liked it, the gore was incredible and the cinematography was great in some places. I kind of got distracted from the bumps and sometimes choppy animation, but definitely highly enjoyable smile.

Re: LEGO(re) THE MOVIE

Beside the fact that there was tons of light flicker, camera bumps, low camera quality, etc. the movie was good. If you take away these factors you actually have a pretty good film. I liked the concept. Of course, everyone has their own opinions about the amount of gore that should be used, but for the excessiveness presented it was actually pulled off well. I don't think it would be spurting out like a geyser in real life, but it still worked. Just work on securing your camera and the other technical problems mentioned and your quality will improve drastically.

Some of the shots were jerked a little bit. Also some parts of the animation was choppy. I liked the gore effect and the sword fight. It was very enjoyable for me though. Good job

Hehe. I liked it. No plot whatsoever, but the gore was pretty entertaining.

Decapitating him in the end overdid it a bit, though.

I promise you, if you hit a main artery blood can pump up to 20 foot from the body. But this would be in a thinnish spurts as opposed to fountains of  'burst water mains' amount.

But it is still pretty impressive when you see it. wink
