Staff Review

Randy Yard:
The simple story is told quite well and is certainly good enough to capture the viewer's attention, with the notable exception of a few distracting pop culture references (see the title). Sound and cinematography well done. Effects ranging from extensive masking and green-screening to facial animation are found in nearly every shot and quite well done as well. And yet, it's tough to really take a liking to this film because it's missing the one thing that viewers watch a brickfilm to see: moving bricks. Animation of the bricks themselves is practically non-existent (by my count, only seven shots in the entire six-minute running time), as the film relies instead on its numerous effects and some clever camera angles to maintain viewer interest. It gets by, I suppose, but I could understand if less ardent science fiction fans decide to pass this one by.
