Re: The 2009 Bricks In Motion Awards: NOMINEES [CLOSED]

Space Opera is canceled, that's a decision I came to recently.  I began working on it in February 2008, and haven't really worked on it since about August 2009.  It was a hugely ambitious project, and I slowly came to the realization that it might take me another 3-4 years to complete at this rate.  I've had trouble getting the cast in for recording, among other setbacks, and ultimately I decided it would be more productive to focus on making several shorter films in the same amount of time, to build up a portfolio with some variety and also just because it's less boring that way.  I filmed less than a third of the film, but some of the footage might be useable still; if I find time for it I may edit together a scene or two from the film and release that at some point.

Right now I'm working on several projects, primarily a computer animated short film that is in production right now.  I'm also working on two collaborative brickfilm web series, and considering a couple of brickfilming projects for this summer.  I'd also like to begin preparation this summer for my first serious effort in live action.  The possibility of a sequel to Unrenewable is also there, though I doubt I'd be able to begin filming a major project like that until Summer of 2011.

At the very least I think it's safe to say I'll be releasing some new films this summer.

Does anyone know if NXTManiac is going to make an awards video this year? mini/confused

Re: The 2009 Bricks In Motion Awards: NOMINEES [CLOSED]

I will most likely make an awards video, depending on how long it takes to pit together a video. It took an extremely long time to make it last year, as my computer is running on a very old XP system (512MB RAM).
One thing that I'm sure of is that there won't be a live video stream during the chat. It caused too many problems, along with a 30 minute delay for my arrival.

Something I'd like to see would be the use of different clips from each film, particularly based on what award they're being considered for. Of course it would be more effort, but it would definitely make up for not having a live stream this time, and make the video less utilitarian and more worthwhile.

I agree. Maybe for certain categories, Visual Effects, for example, we can try to get the animators' original footage and then play it alongside the finished visual effects footage, or superimpose one onto the other (kinda like how the Oscars do/did it).

Re: The 2009 Bricks In Motion Awards: NOMINEES [CLOSED]

Yeah, I tried to use clips that demonstrated the award a couple times, but I ran out of time to do a really good job with it.
That would be really cool to have behind the scenes clips. I don't know how many people would have footage like that, but I think it would make the video more enjoyable.

I am thrilled to see Alles ist die Noppe be nominated. It was pleasure to watch something of it's standard. Good choice! mini/smile
