This is my entry to "Septemberfest 2010". It won third place. My longest and best film to date, "Small World" tells the story of a Lego minifigure that is smaller than the rest, and his quest to fit in and be happy. "Small World" is a tale of Joy, Sorrow, Rejection, Loss, Loneliness, Suffering, Happiness, and what it truly means to be different (I think we can all relate to that). So sit back, laugh, cry, and adore the little protagonist as he makes friends and enemies, travels till he can walk......er.......HOP......no more, and endure the most traumatizing, Joy-filled, Rollercoaster-like exciting period of his, and all our lives, growing up.

Re: Small World

The music got really annoying for the first minute and a half (and you'll probably get disqualified for using that Tom and Jerry clip), but I really liked the concept and storytelling. I really felt touched by the end.

Re: Small World

Small World has somehow jumped into my top 20 favourite brickfilms after first viewing. From the first images that were posted on the "Frame from your up-coming film" thread I thought it would be alright, but nothing special, especially since Goldencamerastudio's other work is really quite average, no offense to him. I was quite surprised at the time length when I clicked on it, and decided I'd give it a look.

The first couple of shots were simplistic enough, though the pan was quite jittery. Then I saw the inside of the dumpster. My attitude brightened as the film continued, though I couldn't shake the repetitive the music, which thankfully stopped at 1 minute and 35 seconds. From there the film flew, with some innovative animation, cleaver techniques, and a steady pace and plot.

The technical aspects are quite good, however it does fall low in some parts. Such as the camera quality, which really does disappoint. Some of the framing and animation was awkward as well, but not too bad. So what makes this film so great? The plot. Original, well paced, with a lovely idea. The film really does invite some new things to brickfilming indeed. However nothing is perfect, and it does fall down nearer the end of the film, where it starts to feel rushed, and the no-dialogue starts to infringe it's full capability.

Sound: 8/10
Music: 3/10
Animation: 7/10
Effects: 6/10
Plot: 9/10
Cinematography: 6/10
Overall: 39/60

In my opinion this and Larrygitis should win Septemberfest from what I've seen, and they are very close indeed. And well done, especially since you were up until this point an alright brickfilmer, nothing more - but now this has really given me a lot of respect for you.

Re: Small World

Not bad! That was pretty good, but there were some flaws. Keep on trying. mini/smile

I do not care about your opinion, unless it has to do with it needing more ponies.

Well said LegOpinions.  Good job goldencamera.  Currently your best work mini/bigsmile

Re: Small World

Your best, Golden. I don't really like the special effects, but it's an very original concept! Good luck!

Re: Small World

An interesting story and an original brickfilm.

Re: Small World

The technical aspects of the film weren't so great, but the story and feeling to it made up for that. Congrats on making an entertaining film!

Re: Small World

I really liked some ideas. The whole movie has an interesting concept, I must say it's one of my favourites entries. This is one of those films where I don't care at all about technical aspects. Though, one thing I would have liked to see would have been a bit more of his daily routine. But anyway, great movie, and good job. 4/5

Re: Small World

I wasn't really sure what happened at the end. Did his dad transform him back to normal size and then he went chasing him?

Re: Small World

No, the little guy grew up, and when his old friend (He wasn't his father) died, he went frantically searching for him.

Re: Small World

Fantastic piece of brickfilming! I was thoroughly engaged throughout and enjoyed every moment of the plot, which was very touching and heart warming. However, clearly there are some problems with accidental camera nudges and lighting. But overall this is a very worthy candidate for septemberfest, mostly based on the plot and most of the effects.

Re: Small World

A very creative story (although I wasn't sure how he got plumbing and electricity inside a dumpster) and a very touching ending.  I thoroughly enjoyed it. mini/smile

Re: Small World

I loved it.  A great story with excellent morals.  Not perfect on the technical side, but a very solid entry.  I love the ideas you used, the small guy, the theatre seats, etc. all amazing.

Re: Small World

Small World. This film reminds me of Culmination ( My favourite brickfilm to date), though Small World is lacking Presentation, a well needed feature in a decent film. The first minute of the film made me think it would be an under average film, with long walk cycle's, light flicker, poor camera movement and the most annoying repeated music I've ever heard. Through the film it got better with some decent humour, slightly better animation and interesting plot.

Re: Small World

You really got trough to me in the ending. I felt so sad for those small people.
This is fantastic! It's an amazing piece of art!

Re: Small World

This was not really hard for you to animate, you didnt have to animate a real minifg, so you didnt have to animate a full walk cylce, you mostly had to animate a little dude that moves by one stud. But the idea was good. 4/5 mini/smile
