Topic: Help with posting videos

Hi I know I sound kind of newbish because I just joined the last bricksinmotion site not to long ago and never learned how to post or E-mail videos. So here are some things I need to know.I would like some basic instructions please.I MUST know before THAC 6.

1. How do I send a downloadable version of a video on an E-mail?

2. How and where do I post a video on the forums?

3. How do I compress a video and keep good quality?

4. Do I need to capture frames then put them on Sony Vegas? I have Sony Vegas 8.0

I will post anymore questions that I have if I need to. Sorry if I am wasting your time.

Insert a hyperlink to the file in the e-mail

When your film is uploaded to a website (brickshelf, youtube, vimeo etc) you post a thread about it in the "Releases" section. You must insert a link to your film in the post of course.

Soon, Schlaeps will have the directory up and running and we could upload vidoes directly to BiM mini/bigsmile

When you have your compression software, compress the file a few times at different sizes and compare. Small size compromises quality.

You need to capture your frames with a separate program (use SMA or MonkeyJam) assuming you use a webcam. Then, save the file as .AVI and import the video file into Vegas to do effects.

Sony Vegas is a compression software, as well as a editing software, so no worries. mini/smile

Re: Help with posting videos

When I enter the THAC 6 contest the rules say I can't post the video on any other sites before I send the Downloadable version to Stevie Collins, so I can't post a hyperlink.

What do I do for the E-mail in THAC?

attach your film to an e-mail and send it to Stevie Collins.

You can't post the video on a public video sharing site like Youtube or Vimeo, but you can upload it to a site where you require a hyperlink to view the film. Like rockfootage.org or Mediafire.

I strongly disadvice you to use brickshelf as a host, the site has crashed a few times becuase people have been uploading larger files than they should, Brickshelf is an image hosting site.

Re: Help with posting videos

You don't want a hyperlink. You want a deeplink.

I recommend that you sign up on a file hosting site such as MediaFire and upload your movie to there. That's the easiest way.

It has to be up to a certain standard to get into the directory. Which also still requires you upload it somewhere.

Did you EVER made a brickfilm?

Re: Help with posting videos

Did you EVER made a brickfilm?

Yes, only I never used to use Monkeyjam or Sony Vegas. I used WMM. I just got Sony Vegas and Monkeyjam. This is what I did before:

1.Import the pictures to my computer.

2.Put them in my stop motion folder.

3.Open WMM and import the pictures.

Re: Help with posting videos

Well... let me explain

1 start up MonkeyJam
2 make a new layer
3 go to: Capture>Video
4 set ''hold'' to 1
5. animate!'
6 Make the movie as an .avi, .mov., or some other video codec
7. Import the whole animated scene in  Vegas for titles and montage and stuff, and your finished!
