I'd be happy to run the contest. I've already had one contest under my belt, which boasted $100 prize money and garnered 25 entrants. Plus my sponsors of last year made it clear already that if I hosted another contest they'd be happy to contribute.

Of course this is essentially up to the Bricksinmotion staff and Sean himself, but I just thought I'd put this out there.

Yeah, I too was thinking that Onion could do it.

Re: Fall contest?

As has been discussed throughout the last several months, Uni is leaving me with no time to run Septemberfest this year.

Re: Fall contest?

Would it be possible for someone else to run it?

Guys, it was either this, or BRAWL, and this year, the staff chose BRAWL.

No, Juggernaut, BRAWL was unofficial, the staff didn't decide on it at all.

Oh right, I had forgotten. It was a while ago since last year's Septemberfest mini/XD .

Re: Fall contest?

If you want to keep a contest limited to Brickfilms.com out of spite because I've declined your frequent offers/requests to help with official contests or join the staff here, I guess that's understandable. I would tend to think it's a bit unfair to the contest sponsor to deliberately avoid posting the contest in the place where it'll get the most exposure, but it's not really my business.

For the record, Onion, I am not "refusing to sell" BiM so I'd appreciate if you could stop spreading false rumors about me like that.  Nobody has offered to buy it, but I don't own it anyway.

I have to pretty much agree with everything you said right there.

I can understand the way you may feel, Onion, but nobody would really gain from making it Brickfilms.com exclusive.

My old YouTube is since long ago defunct - now even removed.
Here is my new one.

Re: Fall contest?

Not quite sure what happened here. I mentioned BF to highlight my sincerity as a participant, you know-as a reference for an upcoming horror contest. It would be cool if other websites pointed the way here-"Heads up. There's an animation challenge going on over at BiM!" But what would other websites do beyond that?

MPfist0-Off the top of my head the three top winners were Birds by Andreas Feix, Good Company by hali, and Dominus Poenae by Kapaluchi Studios.
(EDIT: Accidentally credited dominus as Egoless. He did enter another film entitled Descension-but I'll have to look for that one.)

Re: Fall contest?

In five days, BF.com has built up a community of 59 members, a full 33% of which are also members here, and only 7% of users who have posted on BF.com are exclusively BF users. In comparison, we've added 61 unique users, some of whom have posted
In the same period of time, there have been 150 posts on BF.com. I don't know how many posts have been made here in five days, but I know for a fact that we hit that kind of mark daily, especially in the past couple of weeks with the announcements of ToY results and BRAWL results. Let's face it, BiM is a thriving center while BF is a shadow of it's former self.

So let me be absolutely clear: I encourage a dual website contest, but I strongly discourage a BF.com exclusive contest unless it's for the express purpose of [attempting] reviving BF.com.

Re: Fall contest?

I'd rather not openly state my motives for choosing BF over BiM in public, but if you wish to know then PM me and I'll tell you. I probably will be hosting on both sites, but please - I'd rather not be jumped on for something I never said.

Re: Fall contest?

Aled never offered to buy it that I can recall--I might be mistaken, it's possible he said something like that.  I know he offered to help pay for hosting.  Refusing to sell to Aled would not be refusing to sell.  He's vandalized both Brickfilms and BiM in the past and has earned a poor reputation with many of the long-time members here, so regardless of how I feel about him I know most of the staff would not approve of putting the site in his hands.  I think in the last few years he's grown up quite a bit and done a good deal to redeem himself.  I care about the site and the community, but if I thought I'd found a good successor who the staff would approve of I'd seriously consider handing over the website. Until then I'm doing the best I can with limited time, resources, and motivation.

Hazzat, JP, and Mr. Rundown101 aren't guilty of turning you in; I was concerned that you might be spreading false rumors about me so I read the message you sent out to all three of them through this forum by using my magical administrative powers. (Don't worry, folks; your passwords are encrypted and I'm not nearly smart enough to get to them) Call it Nineteen-Eighty-Four if you like, but when somebody is saying false things about me to try to drive people to another website, I consider it within my rights to look into this.

Obviously someone (Either JP, Hazzat or Mr. Rundown101) has fed back a small bit of information to you, regarding my motives. Here are the other 4 things they forgot to mention. Here they are:

2. BiM is not going anywhere new really ATM, and theres a lot of noobs and trolls here
3. Brickfilms is a fresh start
4. The contest will draw attention to BF
5. The site has many things BiM doesn't such as a community forum

The last reason is redundant, but the others valid.

Actually, last I heard, Aled offered to buy it. You refused. And you also mentioned before you wished that you didn't really have to run the site. I'm simply using information I have witnessed.

Also guys, I am angry and disappointed to see some many people jumping on me for something I didn't say. My intention was to host it solely on BF, but I never announced it. Then for some reason people started presuming, obviously after what I said in chat, and took it that was the case. I said just a few posts ago the exact same thing, but people obviously ignored it.

I probably will be hosting on both sites, but please - I'd rather not be jumped on for something I never said.

Re: Fall contest?

Wait, did Onion really spread that rumor? All I know is that you (Sméagol) is getting kinda boring since you don't wanna do more contests, or even get the ToY results on chat cause you thought it was boring even though most people on BiM quite enjoy it (me included).

Now Brickfilms.com is raising quickly in members and comments really fast and it is a really fun place to be on.
And why do you have to create so much more buzz about it being on Brickfilms.com? It's Onion's contest since he is hosting it.

Re: Fall contest?

I didn't do a live chat because it would have meant delaying results another week, and I wasn't going to have time to get the prizes taken care of, then.  Also I get mostly negative feedback about the live results chats we've had in the past.  I'm sure a few people might enjoy it, but it seemed like the smarter call not to bother with it.

Folks can do what they want, it's Onion's contest and all.  I just want to avoid being misrepresented in all this. Like I said, I didn't recall Aled directly offering to buy BiM, I guess maybe he did if he says he did, but it's not in my rights to sell it to him, anyway.  So either way, I am not "refusing to sell" it.  Anybody who says otherwise is either lying or doesn't know what they're talking about.

Sorry to say, Brickfilms does not have many things BiM doesn't have. The community forum is the only thing that I can think of, which we closed because it the staff unanimously felt it was detrimental to the website.  I guess the resources are a little more populated, too, which is nice.  I won't keep arguing about this, though, I don't really want to provoke arguments of BF vs. BiM, I care more about the community staying intact.
