With twenty films nominated, we're excited about the crop of quality films in the running this year. We'll keep you posted as to the announcement of the winners - it's coming soon!

Re: The 2011 Bricks in Motion Awards: The Nominees

About time. Nice list.

Re: The 2011 Bricks in Motion Awards: The Nominees

Yes! The movie I chose is in all but one category! Can't wait to see the winners!

Re: The 2011 Bricks in Motion Awards: The Nominees

Looks good! The selection has quite a few good pickings. Should be a fun and interesting BiM awards this year. mini/smile

You can do anything, just have fun while doing it.

Re: The 2011 Bricks in Motion Awards: The Nominees

Ummm, if I remember right, TLG did the sound work on "The Fastest and Funniest LEGO Star Wars story ever told...The Prequel!" So should Garret really get an award for something that he didn't do? mini/confused

Well it wouldn't really be an award for Garret, it would be an award for his film. So all those who participated in the creation of the film could take some pride and credit in making it an award winning film. At least, that's how I would view it.

Either way, great list here! mini/smile

Re: The 2011 Bricks in Motion Awards: The Nominees

All right! mini/bigsmile

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: The 2011 Bricks in Motion Awards: The Nominees

I would love to see Henri & Edmond: Copyright win all the categories other than BEST VISUAL EFFECTS.

Where is ''Pirates Rule!'' by AnnoyingNoises? mini/confused

I'm surprised it is not nominated for best film...

In my opinion, "Pirates" wasn't a great film, it was a good film. The film, while it was pleasurable to watch, really never stood out in any of the categories mentioned above. Now I'm not on the committee, so I don't know why they didn't nominate it, but I think that might be one reason why.

Well, it's not only the ''technical qualities Awards'' mini/tongue

In my opinion, ''Pirates Rule!'' was an overall great film mini/sunnies

...But it's just my opinion.

After some discussion and thought upon your question, we came to the decision that it is still eligible. Brickfilmers have been working in a professional and semi-professional role with not only The LEGO Company, but other companies as well, more and more in recent years. These awards are meant to celebrate excellence in the field of brickfilming and sometimes excellence comes from collaboration. As long as the brickfilmer posts it here, it's fair game.

I understand that this may discourage some who feel that the inclusion of professional elements will eliminate competition by amateurs and hobbyists, who, after all, make up the backbone of our community. To those people, I would point to the sweeping nominations of both Egyptian Holiday and Henry & Edmond: Copyright. Neither of these brickfilms were corporately sponsored and both pushed the bar in technical terms and the story told.

In short, the BiMAs reward the excellence in our community, wherever it may be found.

P.S. I understand that the nominations and choices made will never fully satisfy everyone. It's just a reality of the democratic process of judging. Not all the choices made fully reflect my opinions, but because I am a part of the whole, I will stand by the choices of the panel.

It's not a problem, I was just asking a question. mini/wink
Can't wait to see who the winners are.

Re: The 2011 Bricks in Motion Awards: The Nominees

Wow, I was pretty surprised to see what I was nominated for. Thanks!

I really hope Copyright wins!

I doubt this will ever be finished

You guys will judge it halfway through and then accidentally forget about it

Let's just say Copyright wins every category so we don't have to go through the disappointment and sadness of the results never being finished

Pirates has pretty bad animation compared to everything else here, so it's not too surprising. While it's an amusing adventure film, it doesn't really excel in anything besides having some funny moments and nice set design.

But I'm still happy with what it has done, the fact that some even consider it a classic, and beating Marooned and winning a huge flagship is all I need. It's far surpassed what I thought it would do.

But I'm pretty sure that I Am The Night should get a nomination or two.
