My biggest focus for this film was improving on pacing and cinematography, which I think was a success, compared to my older films. I know there's a lot of light flicker, but as is indicated by my last couple videos, that shouldn't be a problem in the future. I'd also like to point out that the spots on the camera are not on the lens, but on the sensor, which has to be professionally cleaned, and I did't have time to clean it before filming because I had to finish before returning to college. Despite it's flaws I consider this a success because I improved in the areas I wanted too, and I've started recording more of my own sound effects.

Re: Red and Green

This was actually quite good! Nice work!

Re: Red and Green

Very nice!
It could do with some background music, and the ending didn't quite make sense.

I get the part where the guy regretted sending the brick off, and was therefore bored. But did he get a new brick, or just bring back the escape pod, or what?

I liked the aspect of just the computer talking, and you did a great job of conveying emotions without dialogue.
The sets were nice, and gave off a detailed, but sleek, simple almost "sanitized" look that is great for spaceships.
The animation is well done, and other than the barely noticeable light-flicker, and lack of music, it's great!

Re: Red and Green

Very cool!  I love those classic spacemen.  Green's animaiton was very MAGIC PORTAL-esque.  The sets were simple beautiful.  And the hyper-talented Brick 7 is an awesome computer!  On the pacing, I think that at :46 the guy should have raised his arm more quickly, all else is spot-on.  I don't get exactly how things ended the way they did after the airlock scene, but This has become one of my favorite brickfilms.  It could even become a mini-series.

I agree the ending was a little weak, I've never been very good at endings; I'm still trying to work on that, and I wrote this in about a day, the pre-production was really rushed because I had to film the whole think during my Christmas break. I didn't include music because I wanted to convey the loneliness of the space station and because I knew I was never going to find something I liked, and can't compose my own music, at least not right now.

@HoldingOurOwn: A mini-series is unlikely as once I'm done with my entry to the NNN police show competition I'm going to be going full swing into the production of a 10-15 minute film that will probably take at least a year if not longer. I also don't think I could come up with any ideas for episodes, I struggled with this one enough. mini/tongue

Thanks for the positive comments guys. mini/smile

Re: Red and Green

I pretty much agree with everything everybody else has said. But, I must take your side in the fact that adding background music probably wouldn't do good with the feel of the film. I mean, The Birds has no music score because it doesn't really need one. It does well on its own without musical accompaniment.

But, overall, I liked the film. Also, what was the end credit music? I'm curious; it sounds like some old Western film soundtrack, like The Alamo or something.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

It's an Incompetech song: The Parting.

Hey, I like to write stories.  If you have a non-verbal story like this one and are having difficulty ending it, send me a PM. I love your work so much that it's an honor to lend a hand.

Re: Red and Green

I really enjoyed this. I agree with others on the ending, but there were so many other little details that made me smile.

An interesting ending would be him having to go outside of the base, whether it be in a suit or vehicle, to retrieve the little green alien thing.
