Topic: Swoosh Build-Ups

This shouldn't be a big deal, but I was wondering if anybody here knew how to create one of those suspenseful swoosh build-ups. You know the ones that Keshen8 uses in his action films? I'd really like to add some in my upcoming film, but I kinda want to make my own, and not buy them. I could be a little cheesy and do it with my own body by sucking in air really fast and recording it, but I want to go a little more professional. The only audio software I have is Audacity, so is there some way I could make one in there? Or how do I make one in general?

Thanks!

Swoosh a thin stick in front of your mic like you would record your voice.

Well, I'm not talking about those basic swooshes. Here's what I'm wanting to make:

Keshen uses many of these 'swoosh buildups'.

Search from freesound.org or from audiomicro

Those can easily be achieved by playing a gun shot sound effect backwards.

A Life? Cool! Where can I download one of those from?

Re: Swoosh Build-Ups

Carrollfilms is correct.
Download a gun shot sound effect from somewhere like Freesound.org. Open it in Audacity and reverse it. (effects--> reverse)

If it isn't long enough you can just adjust the tempo or the speed and pitch, just don't overdo it.

Yeah, I've done that, and I now have a good swoosh build up sound!

Re: Swoosh Build-Ups

Combine it with a synth stab effect reversed also-- that gives it depth and tonality.

I have on if you still need it, just tell me your email and I will send it.
