Maybe they were actually so far up that it created a hole in the fabric of reality and in order to heal that wound a spatial loop was created meaning the forums were so far up they were down too. 
Yeah, I noticed. We were having a 'big debate' about it on Twitter, too. I wonder why they were down...
Time to make a sequel to "The Day Brickfilms.com Crashed", "The Day BricksinMotion.com Crashed".
Seriously though, Smeagol said they are switching domains.
We're going to have additional downtime (perhaps for as long as 48 hours) sometime in the next week when we complete the hosting transfer process. Some forum data may be lost at that time as well.
48 hours! This is like the only thing I do. 
They are transferring web hosts not domain Galactic, so no change in URL 
Anyway it would be a pretty stupid move to change URL considering that bricks in motion is the most popular brickfilming website! Imagine the confusion it would cause...
Anyway, I respect that you might not want to disclose the full details, but just out of interest why is the site switching host? Is it to save money or something? Or to allow for more functionality?
And this switch will enable us to get the new directory idea up and running right?

The hosting change is being done to accommodate future changes to the site's design, yes. However, we haven't had a lot of time to work on that, yet. Hopefully we'll be able to get it done before the fall.
