Well, I decided to work on a spiderman series. Well, more like a miniseries. 6 are being planned. The first episode is nearing production, and a casting call will be held soon. What will make this series different from other lego spiderman shows is that I will be using different origin stories and lesser known villains. The series pays tribute to various Spider-Man movies, comicbook stories, cartoon series, etc.

Summary:
The show picks off a few months after Uncle Ben's murder, with Spider Man working on a one man rampage against the Kingpin. Peter has to decide the kind of man he wants to be when super villains start to pop all over the city.

Episode 1: In the Clutches of the Kingpin/Pilot
Episode 2: Learning Curve
Episode 3: Metamorphosis
Episode 4: The Sinister Six
Episode 5: Spider Verse Part 1
Episode 6: Spider Verse Part 2
Episode 7: Spider Verse Part 3

Re: Lego Ultimate Spider-Man series

From experience, I'd say try to cut that down to 3 episodes. Normally, I write 10, see how much of the overall plot and the character development needs to stay in, and get rid of all of the excess, especially when one of my projects is a licensed theme. That's not to say you have to, but it's a suggestion.

How long do you think each will be? And which villains are you planning on using? Kingpin sounds interesting. You could also go for Shocker, Vulture, Jackal (who sets off the whole Clone Saga) and Hydro-man. In fact, if you had Hydro-man and Sandman team up, they could merge like in the comics and become Mud-thing!

Sorry, I'm a huge nerd.

I'd also suggesting goin on YouTube and watching as many other Spider-man brickfilm series as you can. In the past few years a ton of them have sprung up, and they're all pretty much identical but at different skill levels, so you may want to make sure your story differs as much as possible to ensure that you stand out (if that's possible when there are so many).

Re: Lego Ultimate Spider-Man series

@Jampot
Each episode should be 8 to 10 mins. I already have an outline of 5 episodes, and I know which characters will be used. Each character will have something important to contribute.( I'm looking at you, Marc Webb)

There are a lot of villains, both major and supporting:
Major:
-Kingpin
-Prowler
-Shocker
- Scorpion
-Harry Osborn/ Green Goblin
- Norman Osborn

Supporting:
-Smythe (Spider slayers)
- Cardiac
- Dennis Carradine( Uncle Ben's killer)
-Professor Miles Warren (Hinted to be a criminal, not Jackel yet)

I have watched countless Spider-Man series that are pretty much just a copy and paste of each other. That's why I'm not focusing as much on the origin story, or using very much popular villains, like Norman's green goblin, or venom, doc ock, etc. If there is a second season, I'd love to explore the clone saga. I love the idea of using Ben Reilly or Spider-Woman. Or Kaine. Or...

Yeah. I'm a huge nerd when It comes to Spider-Man too. mini/tongue

Re: Lego Ultimate Spider-Man series

Why not just do Clone Saga from the start? Set it up so that it's clear what Jackal has done, but then there are effectively three Spider-men running around New York. That'd be cool.

@Jampot
I'd like the establish Peter and Warren's characters first before I do all that.

Re: Lego Ultimate Spider-Man series

Aren't people already pretty familiar with Pete though? I mean, there are two movies series, decades worth of comics, at least three cartoon series (off the top of my head) and a mess of games. I think you could get away with very little of Parker's characterisation and focus on other characters if you wanted to, but if you don't, that's cool.

When you're right, you're right. But, my spidey is fueled with revenge for the start of the series. I'd like to make him learn to become a hero.

Wow. You really want the clone saga. I'll remember to drop some easter egg hints, just for you.

Here's the first villain:

I've always wanted to see him in a lego animation. The pilot script is 80% complete. Casting call should be up by friday.

Re: Lego Ultimate Spider-Man series

funmi, one suggestion don't make it unoriginal. But otherwise it looks like a cool idea.

This is key.

Some minor plot-things nobody's done in brickfilms that it might be worth considering are Pete's internship (and later job) at Horizon Labs, the Aunt May/Doc Ock wedding (they dated for ages) and Peter's eventual worst nightmare: he has a dream with his parents in, but their faces are completely blank - he's completely forgotten what they looked like, and they were actually such a small part of his life.

Also, read The Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 2 #38, which is when Aunt May finally finds out that Pete is Spider-man. It's (pardon the pun) amazing stuff, and might inspire you.

Re: Lego Ultimate Spider-Man series

Thanks for the tips guys. I just want to remember you guys that the series is mostly based on the ultimate spiderman comic
http://antiscribe.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/ultimatespider-man001.jpg
It's my favourite Spider-man comic.

Anyways, the script is complete. I'll put up the casting call later today.

The link above is a concept trailer I made in less than five hours to show people more or less what to expect. Animation wise: a little choppy, and the effects aren't perfect, but it won't make your eyes bleed. Warning: the song I used has a bad word in it. There will be no language on the show, just so you know.

Re: Lego Ultimate Spider-Man series

Just some quick notes:

Your keying job is very rough. I don't know if you're using a green screen or you just keyed out your background.
There wasn't really much establishment. Story, characters, plot, etc. You can't expect people to start watching a web series when they have no idea of what it's about. I understand this was made in 4 hours but you need to hint to things that are going to be showing up in future episodes. Not to mention, trailers are usually clips from the already finished product.

You should really bump up the frame rate on your animation, it's still very choppy an rough. Even in post you can speed up your output speed to 15FPS if that's what you fancy.

The music was cool, but it was the only redeeming factor of the video. Their was no ambient music when the cheif of police asked who he was so it felt like they were in a soundproof room which took away from the video.

Just my last thing, you need to watch some other peoples take on their version of the story. Most people are bound to create a series that has already been done before and redoing it won't gain you any fans because they've already seen this production done before.

Best of luck with your endeavors.

A Life? Cool! Where can I download one of those from?

Re: Lego Ultimate Spider-Man series

@Carroll Films Thank you for your input. This was a teaser. I don't want to give anything away, but I highlighted the villains to come. When spidey spoke, he was talking to the kingpin, not the chief of police. I have watch many spidey series animations, mostly be these three:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCidWii … 0rteEW9EOw
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJANy … Lh1lxqTfKw
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjD_3G … YBaukn3nyQ

I watch them closely so that my series doesn't resemble them in any way. There are a few others that I found, but those were pretty much just slideshows.

But overall, you were right. Thank you. PS, what did you think of the end title?

It looked better than the animation

Re: Lego Ultimate Spider-Man series

Thanks, I think, I got most of the voices, but I still need a prowler and a nancy. Since no one is auditioning, I'll have to ask people directly. Huge thanks to MrSteiners for making the logo. Check out his superhero fan art here: http://mrsteiners.deviantart.com

Re: Lego Ultimate Spider-Man series

You were right about the animation, and the VFX. But, I don't think the song really fit what was going on in the trailer. In other words, I think some riveting musical score would have been more relevant than a rap song. But anyways, the logo turned out good. However, don't we already have enough Spiderman brickfilms out there, with that title?

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

WOAH. I see at least five different Ultimate Spider-man brickfilms/series, just on the first page of results. That's legogamr, fireballmovies, legospideypro, SmileyProductionFilms, and LEGOSHEBAFILMS all doing Ultimate Spider-man as well, Funmi.

Re: Lego Ultimate Spider-Man series

Uh oh. I guess it will be hard to stand out. I've seen these films, and most of them just have plotless action/ humourless comedies, and they are based mostly on the tv show, which I hate.
