A brickfilm me and Bricknerd made for Alain De Botton. Enjoy!

Re: Disaster News

Fantastic little film. The silly visuals didn't distract from the monologue one bit, but rather the opposite. Had it been done with another medium than LEGO, I think it might have come across as a bit too preachy, but I think the cartoony delivery kept it right on track. And the animation, camerawork and set building was phenomenal. I found myself chuckling throughout the entirety of the film, yet moved by the end of it.

My old YouTube is since long ago defunct - now even removed.
Here is my new one.

Re: Disaster News

This was cool, I loved the cartoony animation, and the narration was interesting to listen to. I don't know if I agree with the narrator completely, but as far as animation goes, it was great.

Re: Disaster News

I love all the camera moves. Great work on the sets, as well. The hopping on one leg animation for Dane had a great feel to it.

Kind of an oddly poignant, prescient video to be releasing right now. I guess the themes in it are pretty universal and would feel like that most weeks, though.

Re: Disaster News

Really digging all the sets in this, it doesn't feel constrained by the LEGO medium and like Filip said, actually enhances the narration. I'm curious about the camera movements as well, they look great. Real nice work, hope to see some more longer films from you!

Poor Dane.

I agree with everything that has already been said. I love the sets and the cartoony feel.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: Disaster News

All that animation is really great, and the narration makes it feel rather deep.  This may be your best work.

Yeah... I tend to feel like the news is so dark, negative and depressing almost all the time.  I usually don't watch it because of that.  Of course, tragedies, horrific they may be, are usually terribly interesting.

Re: Disaster News

Really great to see you tackling a longer brickfilm, KG. I really enjoyed this. Any plans on making anything around this length again in the near future? Or are you going back to one-joke shorts?

Re: Disaster News

I'm quite glad to see you go for something bigger than the usual short films with a single punchline and think you should do stuff like this more often. The sets were great, the animation of some of the more adventurous stuff like the avalanche was really good, and the narration, though a little preachy, was still quite thought-provoking.

Re: Disaster News

Thanks guys! I should clarify that I didn't write the narration/story - I just came up with the visuals for it.

I definitely have longer stuff planned. But I still enjoy making quick and dirty brickfilms, too. B^)

I snapped a buncha BTS photos you can check out on my FB page here.
