Hopefully those will get animated.  I really your Screenplay Challenge entries.  I've written Project x and Loss for the Screenplay Challenge, so if
anyone wants to use them, feel free.

I haven't read all of those but I can recommend Roommate Palpatine - I really want to see that one animated. mini/smile

I voice Palpatine in that.

Re: Here are screenplays that need animators UPDATED!

Yes!  Squid's voice work is already completed, as is mine as the co-lead, Kevin.  That makes casting a lot easier!

I remember I was in on the Buy Tomorrow idea. I may be able to film that this summer actually if I get a script.

You know, I will finish that one.  I'll get to work on it as soon as HOO 3 is released.

That's totally fine. Could you PM once you can get to it?

I actually meant when you can get to it, since I would like to talk to you about it before you start writing.

Re: Here are screenplays that need animators UPDATED!

I've been so happy with the way MARIANA by TogFox turned out.  I've been considering what to script in the fourth story in the "Golden Age of Science Fiction" series.  By the way, #2: Warm, and #3: The Nine Billion Names Of God, are unanimated.  I'm considering the one that started everything: "Autofac".  It is a bit long in script form.  I think it would be about 16 to 20 pages.  So I'm reading a few stories for the first time.

First was "A Logic Named Joe".  It's from 1946, before the first computer existed!  "Logics" were names for computers complete with internet capabilities.  The story was extremely prophetic.  It would have to be updated for today.  But if you re-think a "Logic" as a search engine, it's extremely 1) relevant and 2) accurate in the story's ability to predict the future!  The slogan from "Joe" is, "If you want to do something and don't know how, ask your logic!"

Spoiler (click to read)

Joe was an anomaly which provided unfiltered information to illegal activities, where all other "logics" were filtered.

It was also uncanny how it behaved like Google.  When it collected information on people, it became part of its database, and would use your information against you when others went looking for information on you!  I loved this story, and making Joe a search engine would totally transfer perfectly without compromising the story's integrity.  However, I think a brickfilm about a search engine would be dull to watch.

I finally finished Ray Bradbury's famous "The Martian Chronicles".  Extremely disappointed by the ending.

Spoiler (click to read)

Why is he so obsessed to writing about book burning?  It's intended to be a positive thing in this story!

Single chapters make good independent stories.  I want something self-contained, though.

I just finished something pretty funny that will be a great fourth story: "Placet is a Crazy Place" (also from 1946).  It's visually comical, and has a lot of the surreal imagery found in "Warm".  Stories like this make excellent screenwriting exercises, where your job is to WRITE ONLY WHAT YOU SEE, and never bother to explain WHY you are seeing what you see!  Something important: the stars aren't all shut off in the story.  If you read all three stories I wrote so far, the one thing they had in common was that the stars were eradicated?  It wasn't intentional.  This could be my first where that doesn't happen!

Why am I telling you all this?  It's all Brickfilming's fault.  Since I began brickfilming, I discovered that I love to write and sometimes I can't stop.  When I'm not in a creative enough mood to write fiction, I put down my thoughts, like now.

Also, if you want to try classic sci-fi, why not find these stories that I mentioned?  They're probably online at archive.org.  Or download from the site a random "Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction", "Galaxy Science Fiction", or "Astounding Science Fiction" in pdf format, preferably an issue from the 1940s through 1960s.  These fictional worlds are all very different from the Sc-Fi you see in movies or on TV.

Here is the link to the fourth screenplay in the GOLDEN AGE OF SCI-FI project.  This is the one I was talking about: Placet Is A Crazy Place.  It's longer than the others: about 15 minutes long.

Please enjoy & share your comments and thoughts.  I personally think the original story is hilarious; hoped to have translated it well.

It's a good story, and eminently do-able as a brickfilm, I think!

Re: Here are screenplays that need animators UPDATED!

I'm interested in the "It's a Beautiful Day, Isn't It?" idea. Could you maybe link me to that script? I may end up being busy with another idea of mine, plus the BiM contest, but I'd love to take a look.

Re: Here are screenplays that need animators UPDATED!

We're in this period between Memorial Day and Labor Day called "Summer".  I may seem unorganized and absent-minded at times, and it's really what I'll be.

I forgot to mention that when I wrote "It's a Beautiful Day, Isn't It?" that the very last line I wrote is actually in the beginning: "All scenes are in black and white."  But I forgot to remove descriptive references to color (buttercup yellow, turquiose, etc.)  A fellow BiM member found this mistake.  He deserves mention but I don't have the name right now but it's in my email but again, disorganized.

The proof of "Placet Is a Crazy Place" isn't the final... I want to change the order of some of the dialogue when Mr. Rand and Mike first meet so it makes more sense; forgot to do it in the revision, ad a few minor changes.  Again, unorganized.

I'm really excited, Sonjira, that you want to take a look at the script and possibly make a brickfilm out of it!  I like to step away from the project after someone accepts and let them have artistic freedom within the script.  But the whole time, I'm available for duscussion, suggestions, and accepting/rejecting compromises with changes the director/animator may wish to make.  I also meant to tell you that I meant to post the script in pdf format at that link, but I posted a txt file.  Once more: disorganization.  I will email you "It's a Beautiful Day, Isn't It?" in pdf format, where everything's aligned correctly.

I also want to post the latest entry in the Screenwriting Challenge category: "Three Musketeers".  It was based on the very first screenplay, the 35-page, typewritten "Candy" (2002).  If I can dig that up someday (it's around somewhere), I will probably type it up exactly as it was and post it.  I didn't read it in over a decade; I hope my writing has improved.  Candy is a bit more adult than "Three Musketeers".  There is no obscene language, but it does have some PG-13 humor, mostly the kind of suggestive dialogue like you'd find in "How I Met Your Mother".  My second script, Project H, about a teen who makes realistic UFO illusions in the sky that fool everyone, was never finished.  My friend, who plays Mark Manchester in Holding Our Own, outlined the story with me and we had huge disagreements over which person was the selfish foil: the main character or his friend who was slighted.  Also unfinished was "Joysticks", a story about two unscrupulous girls in 1982 who pretend to befriend a couple of nerdy arcade employees at the Jersey shore to score free games and prizes.  I think "Joysticks" has potential and I'd like to return to it.

I've downloaded 'Placet Is A Crazy Place'. I'm going to alter some bits of it -- I'd like you to take a look at it afterwards, if you want.

Re: Here are screenplays that need animators UPDATED!

Okay... jest let me know, when you send the script, what you change.  I did a few minor changes myself.  I just don;t want the changes to stray to far from the original author's vision.
