I really like having this thread! As, it gives composers their own thread, away from the Royalty Free Music section, which, has gone a bit off topic before.

However, for anyone looking for composers, or, who want to be "featured" composers themselves, I'd suggest you look to this thread, as, it currently has a list of active composers on Bricks in Motion. (I being one of them) Scroll to the Composers section

I'd also recommend that you should look to join that list as well, Megagill74.

I'll go ahead and kickstart the thread as well.

I'm am a Brickfilm composer, having done such in one way or another since 2011. In 2012, I scored my first project for another animator, Pritchard Studios, who's film can be seen here If Rooftops Could Talk. Coincidentally, some of my unused music from that score session was also used in the film's sequel.

My latest composition was a synth-heavy piece for Funmi's Hollow Earth 2.

I totally agree. Though film was originally only a visual medium, and, a director's job should be to style and presentation first - I think that music, if used correctly, can enhance a film's emotional response in a way that could never be achieved by a silent picture!

Awesome! The title really fits the genre as well. I can imagine my favourite heroes doing a pose while the song is being played in the background.

I had my doubts when you said you get A's in music because in my school, music isn't really a thing and my teacher gives out A's to every student (including me). One of my peers composes her own music, she only has one good song and all the others were a bit lame. Anyways, you have lots of talent. Keep up the good work. I am not a music fanatic, but I'll follow your work.

I don't really score well, but I do love writing original music for my series!  The 4th episode will include 3 new original songs, (and my character will be singing one that someone else wrote!)

I decided to dust off of an old composition and give it some new spice!

Here is the original piece of music I created for an Adventurers brickfilm I was making.

Personally, I felt that the original was too slow. (I wanted something really upbeat and jumping. Something you'd snap your fingers too, yet, not too fast to understand) Also, my experience with composing for "an orchestra" was little. I didn't really know what I wanted as far as chord structures and mood. I just stumbled my way across the keyboard for the lead, and then did pretty much the same for the accompanying flutes, horns, strings, and drums.

So, for the Redo I decided to change the bass line, and add in little accents with the accompanying instruments. (Specifically the flutes, like at 0:16) It's not perfect, but, it's much better than the original. The sound isn't as "warped" and, would be much more usable for an opening credits sequence.

@If I Were A Minifig Your compositions are really good! I looked at your Soundcloud page, and I really liked your style of composing; sort of a John Williams theme style. I have been attempting to compose with more Orchestral colour like JW, but I've always gone back to the Hans Zimmer chordal style. Do you have any advice and composition techniques? Did you take music for GCSE/Alevel, or is it just a hobby?

Traditional film scoring is one thing I can't do.  I envy your talent, but in  good way.  This is extremely riveting music!

For Mac, logic pro or garageband would be your best option. GB is free and Logic is in the £100-150 price range. They are easy to use and work particularly well on the mac os interface. The upgrade from GB to logic will be easy because of their similar features.

For PC, I use Cubase elements, hoping to upgrade to the full version. I do not have the luck of owning a mac 'powerhouse', so I decide to stick with PC because of their much cheaper price range. Other software's would be ableton live, reaper and pro tools; which I have all had a limited amount of experience with. I suggest you learn how to use the software you've got already, and once you have developed your knowledge of computer music, switch over to a more advanced software. It doesn't really matter which software or hardware you use, it depends on how good of a composer you are or could become.
