Light, pleasant, with a good... woodlandish... feel. My mother was in the room as I listened to the song, and she said that she really liked it.

Re: Film Scoring thread

I just started to try making some music with Magix music maker movie score edition. Hopefully you like it, and if you don't that's okay because it is the second song I have ever made.

Re: Film Scoring thread

Very nice drum grooves! I take it you use sample libraries to get the epic drum sounds. Well done! mini/smile

Re: Film Scoring thread

I did use sample libraries for the drums, but I hope in the future to make my own drum beats. I am glad you liked it!, and man I simply think that your music is amazing.

Re: Film Scoring thread

I think it is nice to have the ability to use pre-compiled rhythm, but the versatility of recording your own is equally grand. I look forward to hearing more of your work in the future.

Re: Film Scoring thread

@rafael9522 Which drum sample libraries did you use? I'm thinking of purchasing a not so expensive library to add to the wow factor of my tracks.

Re: Film Scoring thread

The drum samples came with the program Magix music maker movie score edtion. I think I might have got it wrong when I said they were from sample libraries, because they came with my program. Sorry:(

Re: Film Scoring thread

I take that the magix software is a loop editor? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Film Scoring thread

Yes magix is a loop editor, and yes it comes with many sound loops that you can make into a movie score.

Re: Film Scoring thread

If you mean it comes with many sound loops and you can put them together on tracks to make music then yes. But it also has some audio effects you can add to the loops., And you can connect your keyboard into it and play your own music. Just yesterday I connected the blue snowball into the program and recorded some  sounds with my own Drums.
Sorry if I don't make much sense, because I just started doing this kind of stuff and don't know much about it.

Here is something I did yesterday:

The drums are kind of off beat but that's because I recorded them myself.

Re: Film Scoring thread

It looks like that software is very good for its low pricing. I also expect you input your own music with an external keyboard? The orchestral samples also sound very realistic, especially the brass. Keep up the good work.

Just tested the vocals today that came with Magix music maker movie score edition. Hope you like what I cooked up!

Re: Film Scoring thread

I like the Southlake-Mystery theme, it has this melody that builds up very nicely.

Re: Film Scoring thread

Hey all. For awhile now I've been interested in film scoring, and even though I am not musically talented at all, (I don't play any instrument), and I'm horrible at the technical aspects of music, I've managed to mess around in Garageband a bit and make something. So, here I present my first official track.

https://soundcloud.com/ghb-8/into-the-depths

It's not too great at all obviously, and I just used Garageband's pre-installed instruments to make it, but I hope for it to be a good kickstart in my film scoring skills, if I ever get them. mini/tongue I'm also hoping to learn to play piano decently sometime in the near future, as I've always wanted to learn, and it would greatly affect my film compositions. Anyways, I'll gladly take any suggestions you much more experienced film scorers have for me.

Not bad to be honest, I was even worse when I started off two months ago with film scoring. Garageband kind of limits the flexibility of instruments. So I recommand using a free open-source software called SunVox. Thanks to the node based instruments, filters and synths you can basically generate whatever you want.

Here are some examples what I have made:

Re: Film Scoring thread

@ GHB and MMBrick,
These are all good mood setting pieces. Not really melodic, but music in tense scenes really don't have to be. GHB's song particularly reminds me of the music used in "Interstellar" whenever someone is docking. Good stuff everyone. I look forward to seeing what you all put out in the future.
