Re: Share Your Test/WIP & Give Feedback

@osomstudios Animation-wise, it looks fine.  Personally, I wouldn't use LDD for animation due to its limitations, but if you can make something good out of it, then go for it.

Thanks will take that into account. I don't think ill do anything with it except mabby some background buildings in a car chase or something.

Thanks

Hooray! Now that I can post:
Here is my really bad test...

Re: Share Your Test/WIP & Give Feedback

Definitely some good technique, animation-wise. However, there was some noticeable light flicker and it appears that your camera was set to autofocus, as the minifigure was out of focus. If possible, you might want to use manual focus in order to obtain your desired focal points. Looking forward to seeing your future work!

Re: Share Your Test/WIP & Give Feedback

This is something I made today to test a technique for creating tracking/dolly shots.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H_xBJ7HSjo

All the lighting effects are done in-camera, too.

Re: Share Your Test/WIP & Give Feedback

It looks pretty good. The camera movement wasn't super smooth, I think you should try more regular movements of the camera. I realize you were trying to keep the minifig centered at all times, but I think you'd be better off calculating a regular distance you can move the camera each frame so it will go about the same speed as the character. He might not stay perfectly centered the whole time, but it will ultimately look better with a more consistent smooth motion. The second move also felt a little jerky. On a separate not the set and lighting look amazing. mini/smile

Re: Share Your Test/WIP & Give Feedback

So, does anyone actually use this topic? mini/confused

Anyway, I made a short test video today trying to smooth up my animation and perfect my walk cycle/run cycle.

http://youtu.be/yRVLv9YLHUI

Here's a short explanation of what's happening in the video:

Normal Walk Cycle
Pulling a hat over your head & Camera zooming
Getting eaten by a shark
Getting off the couch
Skeleton Walk Cycle (It's intentionally shakey, because it's a skeleton)
Guy running #1
Guy running #2 (Better run cycle technique)

Re: Share Your Test/WIP & Give Feedback

This is a sequence from a larger montage for a video that won't be finished anytime soon. I'm doing it in-between other projects.

Clickity click.

That shot at the beginning is quite fuzzy, but that's a compression issue I can easily fix. The aim here was mainly to try and work out how to do some particle VFX (mixed with stock footage of fire), and then the shot with the Ultron Sentinels was just an attempt at cloning that came out better than I expected IMO.

That was awesome Jampot, especially loved the Ultron figures! Looking forward to seeing more of them! mini/smile
Wait.. they were clones??! Thats very nicely done!

The shot at the end was also nice, is that Doctor strange?

Re: Share Your Test/WIP & Give Feedback

Yup. Doctor Strange is one of my favourite Marvel superheroes (along with Bucky, Mockingbird and Black Panther, the former two of which you can also see in the clip).

I'm glad you thought the cloning looked decent. Normally when I try that kind of shot, one of the elements will have some tiny set bump or light flicker that makes editing a nightmare.

The animation is a little rough, but it matches really well with speech, good job. mini/smile

Thanks, I'l try to make it a bit smoother next time.

I plan on doing a 1940's Detective Crime Mystery, so I did a test shot to see if I could get the mood right

Re: Share Your Test/WIP & Give Feedback

That looks really good Cheddarbob!
My only critique would be that the rain drops look a bit small in the close shots.
