This week’s Brickfilm of the Week is Faithless by Matthew Gray.

Faithless is a 2006 brickfilm by Matthew Gray. It follows the story of a man in Limbo who is attempting to piece together the mystery of his own death.

Matthew Gray was a member of Brickfilms.com. He only made three brickfilms, the most well-known by far being Faithless.

Interesting. Not sure I followed the premise, but thought-provoking and well made. I thought the special effects were excellent.

I really like this film. I don't think there is any Brickfilm that is even slightly similar to this. This is a very clever and well made film.

deffinitely interesting! i didnt really understand how the title fit, but it was good! besides the couple references to hell

This movie has a pretty decent premise, I guess, though I think the movie would benefit from giving itself a little more creative of a payoff than the one that it ended on. Having the main character use some more interesting methods to get back at Rachel and the other guy would have kept this film from simmering out to the degree it does at the end.

I must say that one of the weaker aspects of the film would have to be the acting. The main character does alright, but others come off as very stilted and bland. Film Brain's "I really don't want to be to loud and weird out my parents" delivery throughout the film made me laugh at every scene he was in. When you're doing a serious film like this, one has to keep in mind that people are going to be judging your actor's performances to a much larger degree, as their dramatic ability is going to be what the film leans on much more than if it was a comedy (and I've learned this firsthand so you can take my word for it haha).

Faithless: Dark, moody, and irresistibly interesting, Matthew Gray really created a believable and realistic world within just the first opening minutes, and used such a setting to fuel his imaginative and fresh take upon death, and a tale of revenge.

While certain aspects like voice acting, as Sonjira already pointed out, are on the weaker side of things, the overall tone and direction of the events really kept me interested in the story. The special effects were top-notch also. I'm still scratching my head over how they were done!

The whole premise of the murder plot was a bit lackluster, though, spoiling an otherwise flawless experience.

Overall, the animation is top notch, the sets (specifically the city) are really bustling and lively, and, I really loved the little snippet of Cognizance that played upon a TV in the background of a flashback. Together, everything added up to present a pretty believable LEGO world, and contrast it with a really artistic take upon the world of "limbo," all within the confines of just over 12 minutes. I really, really liked Faithless.

Thought-provoking films like this are what I live for. While (as has already been mentioned) the acting and murder plot weren't anything to write home about, I think the film as a whole took the level of thought/speculation-provoking mystery even beyond what was touched on in Cognizance, which is probably my all-time favorite brickfilm.
