Re: Race of a Legend

That was great! Your camera movements have really improved, they looked pretty sweet here. The music also complemented this film very well (did you write the piece?).

Re: Race of a Legend

Agreed, great use of camera movement. You really directed the audience's attention to specific places. Great job.

Thanks for the compliments, guys!

@Mighty I'm glad you liked the music, I had the hardest time picking it out, haha. I didn't write it, I found it on Machinimasound.com.

@If I Were A Minifig, I'm glad you thought the camera movement directed attention, that was the goal. mini/wink

Re: Race of a Legend

Excellent job with this! Good luck on the contest. mini/bigsmile

Re: Race of a Legend

I really liked that purpleish lighting on the track it had this beautiful surreal look to it.

Really good stuff here.  Nice work.

Re: Race of a Legend

The lighting and camerawork is really outstanding.

This film is great except for the fact that there's very little actual racing in it. mini/tongue Still, impressed that you managed to fit a surprisingly effective father/daughter story into the mix.

Re: Race of a Legend

Great job.  I loved the cinematography and lighting.
I hope you win.

Re: Race of a Legend

You really sold the idea that there was a race going on. That's really hard to do, in any film, but especially a brickfilm. Overall, that was beautifully executed.

My profile picture is deep fried lol

This is really REALLY late, but I thought I'd post it anyway. It's the behind the scenes video for this film. It's got some pics and stuff on how I did the lighting and racetrack. Enjoy (or not). mini/wink

Re: Race of a Legend

Whoa...How did I miss this before?
Thanks for bumping the topic, I'd have hated to miss this entirely.

The two things that really stood out were the great lighting, and the music. Both fit the film's atmosphere and style, and gave the short a very professional and well polished feel.

You packed a lot of plot into the minute long runtime, which makes it feel more like a promotional summery for a much longer film. While many of the plot details may have been glossed over, the basic idea of the grandfather passing on the car to his granddaughter, and her making him proud by winning, is still loud and clear.

I too have a weakness for LEDs and lens flares...Trust me, you can't fight it. Just give in and make the best of it. mini/wink
