I really dig that lighting. It's nice to see it all coming through a window actually on set. I also really like that tiny reflection of red on his cowl.

I love what you've done with the lighting, and what we can see of the set also looks fantastic.
That jumbled, messy look is hard to get in Lego, but you've nailed it.
Really, you've just posted the perfect promo frame. Just enough to interest us, but not enough to spoil any surprises.

Yes, it is her room! It's based on Allie's room from "Everybody Loves Raymond", but downsized.
I'd be really interested in how you imagined Missy's room! Please share your thoughts with me.
Well since she is a big advocate about being a strong independent women. and the whole "Mail person" thing I didn't imagine her room would be pink. plus her personality in general, I was thinking more of a hippy lounge style. I really like the set though it doesn't look cramped and it doesn't look like it took a lot of pieces. though it appears like it might be hard to animate in, is it?
Since it is her childhood room, it's been pink her whole life. Also, Missy had to deal with the fact that I like the color schemes in Lego Friends, and also think it's bold since it's rarely he colors seen in brickfilms. She is strong-willed, but I'm in charge. It gives the HOO animation a break from all that yellow!
Missy is a work-in-progress. She is opinionated, but she's as influenced by Johnny as he is by her. And I am constantly evaluating exactly how far she takes her feminism. In the future, I'll be focusing on Missy's struggles as she deals with some of the contradictions her positions present. For instance, she cares about her appearance and looking attractive to men by wearing makeup. But does that negate her independence? I specifically showed Missy throwing lipstick at Johnny in episode 2 (I call that "the lipstick cut"). And why shouldn't she? It's part of nature to attract mates in order to produce the next generation to continue the human race into the future. So Missy has to reconcile her contradictory traits, and at some point, she has to face them and choose one way or the other.
SLIGHT SPOILER: There is a music montage in episode 4. One of the lines in the song mentions a father painting his daughter's room with pink paint.
I animated Brent and Missy in the room. Animating two people i Missy's room isn't too difficult, except bringing people into the door from the hallway, stage right. In episode 6 I think Missy has two of her friends in it. (Actually, Johnny's whole band may be in it! You meet the bass player in episode 5 and the drummer in episode 6.) It may or may not present a challenge. There's no ceiling in the set except towards the window and the edges so my hands can access it easily. I try to build models as efficiently as possible, since I don't have pieces for a large number of sets without taking them apart to build others. Some scenes are recurring and I don't want to dismantle them.
An unprocessed frame from The Cleaners, a co-production between myself and Zach Macias currently in production. It was achieved with multiple split-focus diopters. In the final shot, the man with the bear trap's arm will correctly match his torso. The custom straight arm is from Crazy Bricks.

That looks REALLY nice Nathan. I love how the lighting and colors give it a dingy/unsanitary feel, and great use of the dust beneath the sink. Oh, and a ceiling! Honestly, you always do a great job with integrating great details throughout the frame, and this is no exception. And you even remembered to include one of those annoying bright blue gloves.
The only thing I'd possibly gripe about is that the focus line is pretty obvious. But, that's after drooling over closely examining the single, still frame for an extended period. In motion, I doubt I would have noticed it.
Wow, that looks fantastic. You've really managed to capture the "cheap motel room" look. I especially like the use of the olive green bricks, and nougat "brick bricks" to create the wood panelling. I'd read about split-focus diopters some time before, but couldn't seem to find any for DSLRs. I do wonder if you could use lens whacking/freelensing to create the same effect.
Either way, can't wait to see the finished product. When will it be done?

A split diopter shot almost always calls attention to itself, it's just the nature of the dual focal depths. It can be hidden by putting a wall in the middle of the frame, like I did. It would have been hidden more if it lined up directly with the edge of the wall, but unfortunately the man with the bear trap interacts with the edge of the wall (he pops out from behind it), so I had to push back the line slightly.

I got my diopters on ebay, just search for "split-field" or "split-focus" and look for your lens mm size. For me, it was 52mm. Any of the diopters here should work for your DSLR.
Zach and I are hoping to have The Cleaners done around the end of summer. I need to finish animating the shots, and then we want to make sure the film is really polished in post-production.
I already put this in the production thread but I'll put it here too. Is that allowed? It's a frame from the Quixoticals.

A frame from my latest film "Ricky's Adventure" which is my first brickfilm where I took the visual aesthetics of every shot very seriously, keeping in mind the Rule of Thirds, depth of field, lighting, and shape. Probably my most visually appealing stop-motion to date.

Beautiful frame! Well structured and very nice work on the set design. It really does a good job of hinting at a larger world beyond what is shown within the frame.
