Topic: Glowing Lightbulb Effect

Long time, community.

Wow, I need to contribute more, instead of always coming here for help. mini/tongue

I'm trying to find out how to do not so much as a "glow", but like a light glare (not a lens flare).

I'll guess it's done in Vegas or AE (I have both, so no problem).

I'm going to try to find some images that inspired me so you can see what I'm trying to ask for.

In the meantime, if you have an idea with what I'm talking about, please share!

Re: Glowing Lightbulb Effect

In AfterEffects, create a star with many points (something around 20 points) and then fill it with the color you want.
Add some Blur to it and apply a Glow effect. Play with values to get your desired result. If you want a second color, just add Stroke to the star.
Hope it's the thing you were searching for mini/smile

Example with a 4-pointed Star.

Re: Glowing Lightbulb Effect

Thanks Shahriar! Very helpful.

Although the mods may not like you playing necromancer, this did help me. mini/wink

Re: Glowing Lightbulb Effect

You're welcome! Glad it helped.

~I didn't understand your second line mini/eek Not sure if it's an idiom or what!
But I'll be happy if someone tells me what does that mean mini/dizzy

Re: Glowing Lightbulb Effect

Ah, necromancers are wizards who commune and raise dead things, and I was joking about how you "awakened" a "dead" thread. Admins usually throw tantrums at old things being opened again, so... mini/tongue

So yeah. I probably didn't make it too clear. But hey. mini/smile

Re: Glowing Lightbulb Effect

We don't worry to much about old threads being resurrected with helpful answers, it's not like this is a tech forum where a difference in a year or two of tech could completely invalidate the answer or even the question, generally a movie FX question done last year is still pertinent this year, maybe not to you, but someone might be searching for the same thing which could help them. However avoid responding to someones super old post or response with something like 'neat' although if I saw something like that I might just delete the reply to sink the thread.

Re: Glowing Lightbulb Effect

Cool beans. I'll keep it in mind- I thought if its six months old with no replies ab=void, and sometimes I'll have an answer to someones question, or I want to revive it again because it was so interesting... mini/wink

Thanks Sloth!
